Really enjoyed how you laid out your thought process with the arrows and the (silly yet accurate) Pokémon drawings. Helped a ton to explain how necessary it is to not just think about the Pokémon on the field, but to think about the Pokémon that could be on the field next turn or the turn after. Appreciate the high level analysis and congrats on the W king!
This was a ridiculously good showing. Genuinely world class. It goes to show that a control heavy team that can play with hard reads is the best for you, compared to hyper offense or defense teams. The amount of outplays with armor tail, grassy terrain, trick room and parting shots was off the charts. Also good to see you tackled one of your main weaknesses, not being able to use Urshifu.
I was straight up sobbing at the end. Not ~shed a cute tear~...I was crying. I relate hard to the feeling of burnout* and it was so heartwarming to hear about a moment of clarity where the excitement returns and you go all in and it all pays off in the end and everything is right. I know it's super random, but thanks for giving me this overwhelming feeling of "some things just turn out alright" *(I'm an emergency medicine resident witnessing human suffering and trying to help people struggling within a difficult to navigate (at best) healthcare system and I'm just coming off an overnight shift so this is coming out of a somewhat delirious haze)
Wolfe really has become an amazing storyteller. I put this video on expecting to have it in the background while I played a Nuzlocke and I didn't touch my game once in ninety minutes. My heart is racing rn. Great job and congrats on the W Wolfe.
Incredible job! I really enjoy these kinds of videos that are play by play analysis stories of your tournament runs! I don't know a ton about competitive pokemon but you present it in a way that is approachable, fun, and engaging! Congrats on the win!
i’m not in the pokémon scene outside of my love for the show/games, but i love your channel, and this video really spoke to me. burn out is such a horrible experience, and i’m so glad you spoke on it. it’s so scary because the only way to move past it is to prioritize yourself, which is so scary when it feels like everyone else keeps moving forward. but we can’t compare ourselves/our journeys to those of other people, and we need to do what’s best for each of us. i loved that reminder in your video :)
It’s also much more impressive than you think; he has something called aphantasia, which means he *has* no mental image. When you imagine something, you “see” it in your mind’s eye - he straight-up doesn’t. It also means he can’t self-reference when drawing, if you draw something you make a mental image and copy from how that looks. Of course, it doesn’t affect his cognitive skills, clearly, but it very much affects his ability to draw. Those Incineroars were a marked improvement for him (and also explains why the Flutter Manes looked a bit more like rabbits than ghosts)
That 77 and 78 speed is such a great example of super high level team building and the impact it could have on a tournament run shows me i still have a long way to go building my teams. For a goodstuffs balance team there is an iceberg of depth beneath the surface as to why decisions were made. Wow.

@@DuelingDexpertsit's because at level 50, if you invest into an even number of stats, you will always end up with 4 points remaining. Normally you could put them into another stat (as the first 4 points are enough to get a stat up) but in this case, there was no stat left that he could invest in (speed was out of the question). Appreciate the high level analysis and congrats on the W king!
he chill like that
This was a ridiculously good showing.

The greatest.
What do I gotta pay for the dlc for this joke?

1:17:05 the part where he says "Kingambit survives" always gets me 😂
for some reason it reminds me of the gru plan meme
@@Cyberpunkninja92I think that’s the joke
I was straight up sobbing at the end. Not ~shed a cute tear~...I was crying. I relate hard to the feeling of burnout* and it was so heartwarming to hear about a moment of clarity where the excitement returns and you go all in and it all pays off in the end and everything is right. I know it's super random, but thanks for giving me this overwhelming feeling of "some things just turn out alright"
*(I'm an emergency medicine resident witnessing human suffering and trying to help people struggling within a difficult to navigate (at best) healthcare system and I'm just coming off an overnight shift so this is coming out of a somewhat delirious haze)
This whole video was a massive experience. I was so tense the whole time! Loved the video and congrats on the win!!!!!
Oh GOD, even Wolfey's making Lobotomy Kaisen memes
Lobotomy Kaisen infected Wolfe
That's not lobotomy kaisen that's just JJK
ah yes my anti meta technique, i havent used this since the world champion diff era
Wolfe: Nah I'd win
(He actually won, *cough* Go/Jo)
@@HarmandeepSingh-fy5ztEasy there manga reader, anime onlys aren't ready for that yet
Wolfe did some crazy calculations regarding speed in this tournament, its very impressive
55:34 , My man is just chilling while Wolfey is like staring down the computer , Nick mustve been Hella comfortable during that round 😂😂
That's just the World Champ diff of mindsets
NGL, Seeing nick so comfy and posing for the camera makes me feel like he is trying to and succeeding in rizzing up the stream
can we just appreciate Wolfe's drawings? especially his Incineroar is actually really good, which I guess is a testament to his PTSD ig
My editor Whit made all the drawings for the diagrams! He’s very talented
@@WolfeyVGC You two make a powerful combo then! Like a Torkal and a Walking Wake, really lets your already-great stats shine and boosts your moves!

Wining 3 - 0 in a best of 2 tournament is a new level of skill.
now THAT'S the world champ difference
I loved the part where Wolfey said "It's Incineroaring time" and proceeded to World Champ Difference all over the place.
Luka looked so stressed like "I just avoided the boss music. Why is it back so soon?" His facial expressions are hilarious!
8:40 This is such a raw line lol
That 77 and 78 speed is such a great example of super high level team building and the impact it could have on a tournament run shows me i still have a long way to go building my teams. For a goodstuffs balance team there is an iceberg of depth beneath the surface as to why decisions were made. Wow.
First time attending a vgc tournament in general. Did not expect to see wolfey but me and my friend were so stoked and stayed to watch his win. So happy for you man, looking forward to seeing you at worlds
this is quite possibly the best video you’ve ever made my man. keep up the hard work it’s showing !!
How could I just sit through 90 min of professional pokemon while never have played it in my live, AND STILL been super invested and entertained. Well done Wolfe
almost all of these tournaments are the new biggest ever looks like comp pokemon is in a super good place right now
49:20 i say this with the most venom i can possibly muster. How incredibly embarassing for Game Freak.
For any other company this would be horrible and get immediate apologies and dev attention if you couldn't fkn play the game you bought AT THEIR TOURNAMENT but it's pokemon so it's fine ig
Never thought I would see the Wolfey Redemption Arc on Incineroar. Can’t wait for him to appear in Gen 10!

Just started the vid, excited for this *movie* of a vid.
Been playing VGC for such a long time and I'm really happy to see what Wolfey has accomplished with content creation.
Kinda wild to come from a time when people only watched TV and all content was made by studios. RUclips and streaming didn't exist, my family was excited to get a computer in our house. Now I never watch TV, and individuals online create high quality feature length videos about my interests and hobbies that I can watch on RUclips. Really crazy
Television is all propaganda and brainwashing these days anyway.
28:01 "I used the fake out to keep the Chi-Yu in gay baby jail"
Him saying that caught me so off guard. I died.
@@Battlefield2021 I had to rewind to make sure I heard him right lmao
What does that mean??
@@arininquotes8396its an old meme
@@arininquotes8396 Relatively old speedrunning meme that basically translates to "softlock" or for pokemon battles specifically is akin to "all my friends are dead syndrome" where a pokemon is effectively neutralized and just stuck watching its teammates get double targeted while it can't really do anything but watch.
41:01 this is the greatest part of any video I’ve ever seen
I have not been so emotionally invested in something as this video in years. YOU ROCK!!!!
There’s a zillion things to love about this video, but I LOVE the last bit. Sending such a good message: “Resting was the right decision, and this proves it.”
16:24 Damn Wolfy's so good he unlocked the secret 584 ev cap
The world champ difference
do you know what the EV's actually were?
@@zephyrlegion6047that's what *I* wanna know lol
@@zephyrlegion6047okay so I just found the link to the pokepastes page with the stats turns out it's 108 HP meaning he actually left 4 ev unused I guess so if his speed IV were to low he could add the extra evs there to hit that 78 speed?
@@DuelingDexpertsit's because at level 50, if you invest into an even number of stats, you will always end up with 4 points remaining. Normally you could put them into another stat (as the first 4 points are enough to get a stat up) but in this case, there was no stat left that he could invest in (speed was out of the question). So the points were simply a leftover.
The little drawings explaining the plans for the turn are just delightful. Love this style of wideo, keep it up champ!
This play by play format is exactly what Pokémon needs. Excellent video.
