Viseu's quality of life is remarkable, ranking 17th in Europe in 2007 and claiming the title of the Portuguese city with the best quality of life in 2012, 2018, and possibly 2021.
The city boasts highlights such as being the European City of Folklore in 2018 and a Gastronomy Destination with dishes like Vitela à Lafões and Cabrito à moda da Serra. Don't miss the local delights, including the famous Queijo da Serra.

Situated in the Planalto de Viseu, surrounded by mountains like Leomil and Estrela, Viseu offers a unique landscape with an altitude ranging from 400 to 700 meters.
With a rich history spanning over 2500 years, evolving from Roman to Renaissance, Viseu's identity revolves around quality of life, hospitality, and tradition. Known as the Garden City and Wine City of Dão, it is a hallmark of the region.
The city hosts events like Feira de São Mateus, drawing over a million visitors, and wine tourism events like Tons da Primavera and Wines of Winter showcasing its creativity.
In 2019, Viseu was designated a National Gastronomy Destination, celebrating the best flavors of the region.
Viseu's rich cultural heritage is evident everywhere, with numerous parks and gardens adding greenery, highlighting its dedication to a harmonious environment.

You don't see many videos on Viseu and WOW... it's really beautiful! It definitely has a classic look to it. Now I'm curious about it's history, especially when it comes to aristocracy. I do love to see the women & gentlemen dressed like that. t-shirt, jeans & hoodies have their place, but it is so nice to see classic styles. That tells me it's not so touristy.
That food looked absolutely delicious. Cantinho Alex. We all have to remember them and make sure that we go there. It was very generous of him to gift you that meal!! The best time you can have when exploring is meeting friendly, interesting people. We just have to stop, hello and often they are happy to share their story. I love it!

City feels more organised, also people. I saw couple of tourists, but mostly locals and I think not so many foreigners are living in Viseu.
Alex now is my friend for life 😄 When I will become big youtuber(I hope one day it will happen 😄) I will remember him 💯
And about meeting new people - just like you said, you just need to stop and start to talk. In the past I did not talk much with people, now I do it every day(not only in my videos), probably Portugal changed me....noooo - it definitely changed me for better.

It's easy to find these places in Portugal, you just go and sooner or later you are there 😅😅😅 But ok, I went to Viseu because of comment in my previous videos 🙂
About hilly - I would say it is moderate, not too steep. And streets and roads felt wider, I would say - walking friendly city.

@@lucchese20 It's Russian, since I was born still in soviet times I know it. Latvia became independent, but Russian still is second most spoken language there. If we dig deeper I'm 25%-Latvia, 25%-Ukraine, 25%-Azerbaijan and last 25%-Belarus😁. I lived all my life in Latvia(except last 2 years it's Portugal), but I have Ukrainian surname.
I speak 3 languages now and working on 4th one 😄😄😄

go to Viana do Castelo in the summer to see the Senhora D' Agonia festival....great popular festival....Or come and see S. João in Porto or Braga or Lisbon in the week of 20th to 24th June

Maybe I'm just bad at brandy and don't understand 😁 BUT in Lourinhã it was warm, here - cold. In Lourinhá I drank slow, here - shot. I'm not sure about correct way to drink it, I just know I'm more of a shot guy 😄😄😄 But you think I need to try Lourinhã brandy once more? 🇵🇹
Is it possible to rent bicycles there in Viseu?
Hey 🖐 Yeah I just checked and there are at least 3-4 companies who do rent bicycles and actually that's good idea, because some parts of the city are bit steep, but it is mostly flat.

@@millionplacesoneworld An example are the taxi cabs in Portugal. Some took credit cards and others didn't, same company..Some of the drivers demanded cash which I thought was scammy.

Yes, quite a lot actually, but I can say for 100%, taste is not so good if I compare. Now I know how Indian food should taste 🙂🇮🇳
