  • Hello Amigos and Amigas🫡
I'm in love with this place that I just discovered🧡
It is amazing and I will give you some insight in this episode💯
Lourinhã isn't a huge city, covering just 147.17 square kilometers, with around 26,246 friendly residents. People have called this place home for generations, and the Lourinhã Museum holds treasures from its rich history.
Getting to Lourinhã is easy - it's well-connected to other Portuguese cities, and Lisbon is just 63 kilometers away (about 40 minutes with toll roads or 1.5 hours without).
Lourinhã is surrounded by Peniche, Óbidos, Torres Vedras, Bombarral, Cadaval, and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. Most of the land here is used for farming, producing things like "Pêra Rocha" pears, grapes for wine, and potatoes.
This city is famous for its dinosaur discoveries. They've found ancient rocks with dinosaur bones and footprints.
The weather here is generally mild, but Lourinhã had snow in 2005.
Lourinhã has a lively market where you can buy everything from fresh produce to clothes and alcohol.
It's divided into eight parishes, each with its own unique charm.
The Dino Park and Lourinhã Museum are fantastic places to learn about the city's history, especially about dinosaur findings. Don't miss beaches to unwind and enjoy the ocean.
Lourinhã is renowned for its delectable cakes, desserts, and special brandy. Seafood lovers will be in paradise here.
If you're a dinosaur enthusiast, the Lourinhã Dino Park is a must-visit. It's a unique place with a rich history, fascinating discoveries, delicious food, and lovely beaches. A perfect destination in Portugal!
🏠 Interested in staying long-term? Rental rates are around 10-11 euros per square meter per month, and buying property can cost between 1900-2200 euros per square meter. So if we compare with Losbon, Cascais, Oeiras etc. it is very affordable and it's still Lisbon region.
Join me and of course I'm always happy about your comments.
Special thanks to all residents of Lourinhã who were in this episode, Muito obrigado 🫡🇵🇹
    Stay tuned and Tchau!!!

Oh Andrejs, I'm going to start at the end. I should have warned you about GPS and Areia Branca. I did the exact same thing. The first time I went, I ended up in the town of Areia Branca, and not in Praia Areia Branca... (@ 34:07 you can see Praia Areia Branca in the distance). I didn't think of it!
It's too bad you didn't get a chance to walk around Praia Areia Branca, it's a lovely small town.
I'm so glad you got to the museum! It's such a great museum, especially for the price AND how much you get to see! I was very impressed. I couldn't explain why I liked Lourinhã so much. It has everything you need... and it just feels very Portuguese. Not touristy (when I was living in the area)... normal people going about their daily lives. You have all Pingo Doce, Lidl & Intermarche (and the Continente isn't that far away in Peniche). Plenty of cafés and restaurants... etc.
It was a lot of fun to watch this one... (but I enjoy all your videos).
    Cheers and obrigada ~

Hey Jen 🖐 Thank you for all suggestions and information, it helped me a lot 👍🏼
About Areia Branca, I had plans to film it in more detail, but weather turned my plans around 😁 You can see in the end of the video in the ocean there was huge cloud and when I saw it, I realized that I need to pack my bags. Took drone shots, said subscribe and see you next time and afterwards ran to the car, because 5 minutes later the storm was welcoming Areia Branca😄😄😄
I will go there again, that's for sure in better weather, so I can swim, eat outside and enjoy it 100%.
Lourinhã is everything, yes for big city life lovers it will be not enough, but since I love calm places without tourists - it is 100%🧡

@@millionplacesoneworld Big Cities are wonderful. On the East Coast of North America, I love NYC and go quite often. I'm usually there for my birthday in February. I absolutely love Lisboa... but for many, it's not always the best place to raise children and the costs can simply be prohibitive. Cascais is a really lovely city... I've been a couple of times, on day-trips, from the Silver Coast.
I really do think too, it depends also on where are in your life. Young, older, single, couple, parents to young children or teenagers... (in my case an adult child), and what pace of life do you want.
I am happy to live on the Silver Coast and go in to the city when I need more! It's easy to do in Portugal. As you probably saw, there is a large bus terminal in Lourinhã and also a bus terminal in Peniche, so it's easy to get in to the city, even if you don't have a car... and it is so much more affordable. Then, the bonuses on top of that are the gorgeous beaches nearby and friendly neighbours you can build relationships with!!
Can't wait to see where you go next!! Cheers ~

@JenShea Agree about big cities, but when I was little I lived in small town in Latvia, like really really small. I had my lake, my fish, my bicycle and my friends. We went outside the house 8am and came back muddy, exhausted and happy in 9pm. Then my family moved to capital and we started to live in big city, well for world standarts Latvia capital is still countryside for some🤣🤣🤣 And from then on I just miss nature and smaller towns/cities.
My wife on other hand is more city/outgoing petson, so Cascais for us is compromise 😁 But yes, with Cascais there is huge problem - real estate. For now we are renting, but if we would plan to buy something, starting point is bit high for now, even 2 years ago you could find apartments for reasonable price, but now it is bit impossible. And sometimes price is just 😱 for quality of the place. But now I think Portugal is not unique, it is happening everywhere.
Silver coast is way to go and I hope it will not increase in price 10x in next 2-3 years🙂

Cognac is produced in France in the Cognac region and this name is reserved only for the French Brandy from this region which is called Cognac... Therefore Cognac is a French Brandy! All other Brandys cannot be called Cognac...Cognac is just the French Brandy. It's like Champagne which is a French sparkling wine from the Champagne region...all other sparkling wines in the world cannot be called Champagne. For example, Italian sparkling wine is called Vino Spumante, Spanish sparkling wine is called Cava... the Portuguese is called sparkling wine, etc... Champagne is French and is also a sparkling wine. Of course, I'm not talking about qualities here... everyone has their own category!

    • @millionplacesoneworld
      @millionplacesoneworld  3 месяца назад +1

Thank you, I heard about this thing about Cognac and Champagne, but never knew in which category is brandy, since in Latvia we had really cheap one and it's on different planet if we compare it with Cognac 😁 At first when I tried brandy in Portugal it was 50/50, now on a cold winter day I could drink one glass 🇵🇹 And again Portugal surprised me with variety of drinks, food and places 💯
