  • Hello guys in this beautiful day 🫡🇵🇹
Today I take you back to the past. To be honest I did not believe that these kind of places still exist in Portugal.
We are going to Candal - a picturesque village nestled in the heart of Lousã. Join me on a journey through its streets, surrounded by lush greenery and traditional Portuguese architecture.
From its cottages to the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes, Candal offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle.
Together with other villages tjis place is called Aldeias do Xisto.
Time here seems to slow down, and the beauty of simplicity shows at every corner 🇵🇹
And we are coming back here.
    Love this place🧡
    Stay Tuned and Tchau!!!

Olá 👋🏻 Isn’t Portugal amazing? For such a small country, the variation in the climates, and microclimates from North to South, and East to West are fascinating! With the exception of the Xist houses, it looks like here (Ottawa area) in Fall… (we are now well into winter ❄️)… it’s gorgeous! Was that man saying that that entire space was €55/night? Bedroom, living room and kitchen? It’s great it had a wood stove, otherwise it would feel cold and damp this time of year, I’d imagine.
I don’t know what took you to Candal but it is beautiful! I love that there are friendly cats and dogs where ever you go!
Obrigada Andréia, have a super week!

Boa noite Jen 🖐 You are right again about Portugal, so small area and so different.
I'm going to Latvia next week and winter there is also in full force, will see 😄 After 2 years in Portugal I'm more adjusted to Portugal weather, yesterday I was in North and temperature was 9° C, got me a hat 😅
About what that guy was saying: yes, 55€ for a night, I think that's very good price, because you can go back in time(still with comfort, shower, toilet etc.)
I hope I can manage to stay there this year and experience all the pros and cons. Will let you know 💯🫡
Thank you, Jen, once more and have a great week too and stay warm 😁

Oh, good. Enjoy you other trip! The place I was going to mention near you in Cascais is Monte Estoril....the little village part where there's a park and groceries and a cafe, etc is really a nice area to stay. I walked in the Spring most mornings from there to my favorite cafe to rest and view at Cascais marina.....Mia Pia, I think it's called. Monte Estoril is an expensive area to buy and a bit hard to find places to stay but like a little village around the park. I loved the views from Hotel Estoril Eden but it's being renovated now. @@millionplacesoneworld

Hi! I don't know what idea of Portugal you have. By living here you must have changed your perception already. In fact, our landscapes are quite diverse including microclimates everywhere. From North to South, you'll find idyllic places such as this one.
We now feel a bit divided: As a people, we are naturally welcoming to visitors and gladly show our "treasures", but we are already feeling the consequences of over-exposition, and my fear is a "zillion" people will follow you to check this and other places. No one keeps a secret anymore, let us all revive that old tradition.

    • @millionplacesoneworld
      @millionplacesoneworld  9 месяцев назад +5

I'm getting your thoughts...well...about Portugal, I love this country and all of the places you have around here. If you are talking about tourists ruining places, I agree...since the more touristy place - the less I enjoy it. When I come to place, biggest treasure is communicating with locals...The least thing I want to do is ruin the place for locals, responsible exploration... my mission💯 thank you for your comment👍

"Xisto" in Portuguese is pronounced similarly to "Schist" in English, as the letter "X" in Portuguese is a "sh" sound, and not what you pronounced there at 7:02 -- not "Aldeias do Rhisto", but Aldeias do Schish-Two. And why would those stone houses in that verdant vale with its lively brook not remind you, or anyone else, of Portugal?! Are you one of those who thinks that Portugal is just the Algarve? Or that it should only look like the Algarve?! Do you think that mountain hamlets like Talasnal, that one you're showing in this video, and countless other ones in that region are recent creations made just for the "tourists" or for some "movie"?! I thought you were in Portugal long enough to know by now that Portugal has a landscape and architecture that varies dramatically depending on the region!
