- Hey guys in this beautiful day 🫡 We are back in Silver Coast💯
In this episode we are looking for a place to move again. Peniche is one of our favorite places in Portugal, so can we live here?🇵🇹
Fact dose:
Peniche is a Portuguese city in the district of Leiria with around 13,200 inhabitants.
It is also municipality, which has an area of 77.55 km² and 26,431 inhabitants and is subdivided into 4 parishes.
Peniche is famous for its beautiful beaches, interesting history, and lively culture just like all Portugal.
It's located on a piece of land that sticks out into the Atlantic Ocean.
Throughout history, Peniche has been an important port because of its location by the sea.
In Peniche, you'll see old buildings mixed with new ones, blending the past with the present.
The Fortaleza de Peniche is an old fort that's now a museum, telling stories from the past, last time when I've been here it was closed and this time the same 😁
You can enjoy delicious seafood from the local restaurants and experience the fish market, still cannot wake up early to see it in real life.
Beaches...People come from all over the world to surf on the big waves at Supertubos beach.
There are many water activities to try, like snorkeling and sailing, for those who love adventure. For somebody who don't want to look up for lessons, instructors etc. you can take good old school plunge in to the ocean.
Walking around the old part of town, you'll see the pretty São Pedro Church and lot of small shops and cafes.
If you're thinking about living in Peniche, you'll find a warm climate and friendly people. Trust me I lived here for a while last year.
There's always something new to discover in Peniche, making it an exciting place to be.
So, if you're considering moving to Peniche, get ready to enjoy its beauty, history, and lively atmosphere.
Real estate: For buying now in 2024 average price is 2100 eur/m2 and long term rent - 13 euros per square meter per month. I would say average prices for Portugal, so not bad. Definitely worth considering.
Stay tuned!🫡🇵🇹

Glad you are getting to enjoy places with your wife. You seem so happy! I never had heard wonderful things about Peniche but will want to visit now. I love beaches with sand dunes! Is it windy all the time being basically on a peninsula? Love the way you explore towns and just kind of "wing it". That seafood platter looked amazing. Can't wait for next one. Take care!
My wife, daughter, and Portugal make me happy, and there is no doubt about that. The last two-plus years have been the best years of my adult life. Childhood was fun too😄🇦🇹
Beaches - I think some of the best in Portugal🇵🇹
As for the wind, it's not bad in Peniche, but the temperature is usually different because Peniche is not near the ocean- it's in the ocean. 😄
Thank you for your comment, as always. See you! 🫡
I’ll have to include Peniche in our search - looks great. Loving the tunes on this one too man.
Hey man, yeah, you should consider Peniche for sure. Maybe we'll be neighbors! 😄
Perfect as ussual 😍🍒🍋🏄🏼♀️❤️and you both just beautiful and funny couple ❤️😎
Thank you Sis ❤️😉
Oho! Šis parādījusies🎉🎉🎉
SIS❤
Just a little comment about the cod. It is the best fish to be salted and preserved for several months. Therefore, the ideal food for the Portuguese navigators of the 15th century. 😉
It's so good that Portuguese find out this way to preserve fish. I like regular cod(fresh), but Portuguese salted cod is much better in my opinion. I cook it also at home weekly, my favorite dish😁 And if I can trust info online then Portugal eats 20% of all cod in the world 🇵🇹 Thank you for your comment👍🫡
Another quality video guys. If you're looking for quality of life and reasonable prices, Lourinhã or Peniche will not disappoint. The whole Silver Coast is a great place to set up roots 👍
Thank you 👍 This week probably we will go to Lourinhã 🫡 I still cannot choose which I like better 🇵🇹
Lourinhã is my "forever" (I think!) hometown. After 3 yrs of researching cost/value, we chose this area. We're in a small community 10 min to Praia da Areia Branca (you didn't get to visit it) and we absolutely love it! We go for a walk 2/3X a week there and there's plenty of nature/ trails nearby.
Vale Cornaga is worth exploring. There are many trails to choose and most are easy level.
This week we will compare, but I think Peniche and Lourinhã are different, but I love them both equally. I've just been to Peniche more times, that's why I have a closer connection. Lourinhã - we are coming 😁🇵🇹 Thank you for your comment👍
Peniche is the fish city in Portugal.
By the way, you have a good português pronunciation of the words.
That's why that fish was so good 😁
Thank you, now we need to learn how to put Portuguese words all together 🇵🇹
Another great video guys! Obrigado! Out of curiosity, have you visited or do you plan to visit any cities that are more northern; north of Matosinhos or Póvoa de Varzim?
Muito obrigado 👍
Answering your question - yes plan is to visit every city, town, village in Portugal, what comes to north, we plan to go there this summer, since our daughter goes to school and we are waiting for a break. You say Matosinhos and Póvoa de Varzim is good way to start? 😁
Looking forward to the future videos. 👍 As far as “where to start”, you are probably a better judge of that than I am since you are living in Portugal and I am in the U.S. I would like to move to Portugal in the next few years. I’ve watched so many videos, but mostly people concentrate on southern Portugal (south of Lisbon) and not so much on northern cities. I’m just very curious why that is. Thanks!!!
@peacefulladventure Well it's hard for me to say why south is more popular, I think it's because big chunk of expats live more down south 👌 But from what I have seen in Portugal, I like Central and Northern part more. But good question, In coming videos I will try to answer and understand what is what 🫡🇵🇹
@peacefulladventure Do you know which part of the country is on your radar for moving?🇵🇹
Right now I am leaning towards areas around Porto and Braga; coastal or inland. I’m not ruling anything out, but I definitely like cooler weather. Maybe Viana do Castelo or even Caminha.
Chocolate moose! 😂😂😂😂😂 you really are Portuguese 👍
We also say “we are not lost, it’s just a mini adventure!” 😂
I love it 😁 I will never miss a chance to eat it. Thank you for your comment 🇵🇹
@Carpe-Diem 100% agree, if you are "lost" that's how it should be 😁🇵🇹 Especially in Portugal it's always adventure and you find even more interesting places than destination 👌
This is so great! We are considering Peniche as a hometown as well. What are your thoughts on schools? Would you send your kid to Caldas for schools or do the public schools there? I can’t find many reviews about schools there.
I’d also like to know why Caldas isn’t on your list of possible places. I have been wondering if we’d prefer Caldas for access for more to do for our daughter (gymnastics etc) but I really love the ocean and ocean views. And it’s not too far from Peniche if we had to drive there.
Have you also considered Foz de Arelho?
Hey, thanks for your comment! 👍🫡
I think you're on the right track in choosing a hometown.
About our story, our daughter is currently in an international school (we have reasons why we couldn't place her in public school). I would change this if it were a smaller school, like in Peniche. I'm not sure about the international school in Caldas, but I know there is one in Torres Vedras.
Answering your question about living in Caldas - it is like a city - a very urban city 😁 if that makes sense. Our preference for a hometown is more like Peniche, Lourinhã, Torres Vedras...in one word - smaller. We like relaxed and slower pace of life and if we need something then we go to bigger city 👌
Foz do Arelho - in my opinion, it's more of a resort than a place to live. Now we are between Peniche, Torres Vedras, and Lourinhã. 😉
@@millionplacesoneworld that’s great. I saw your video about Ericeira and it seemed you really liked it. How did it fall off your list? Is it just too expensive? I also noticed not many schools.
By the way I love your videos. They really help get a feel for the vibe of an area. Obrigada for all you do!
@AnaVerzone Thank you 🫡👍
Ericeira - prices exactly and lot of vacation rentals, so it will be very hard to find something long term. Plus it's getting more and more crowded, we decided we want bit slower pace and more calm location 💯🇵🇹

0:40 - If you want to start sounding like a true portuguese person, stop saying "vamos" and start saying "bora lá!". 😉
5:10 - You forgot the one that, according to my sources, is probably the most sought out by the penichenses and the visitors: Pingo Doce.
14:35 - Don't worry about eating with your hands, nobody will be offended. It just shows that you're becoming a true portuguese. 😄
18:00 - The Peniche Fort was not a common prison, it was a prison for the opponents of the regime who were arrested for political reasons, not for judicial reasons. It's now the Museum of the Resistence and Liberty.
Hey 🖐 always interesting to read your comments 💯 Next time we are switching to "bora lá", can we say just bora? 😄
How could I forget Pingo Doce? Most popular I think in Portugal.
Eating with hands, it's good I'm going in the right direction 😅
And I hope one day I will get in that museum. Obrigado Amigo🫡🇵🇹
@@millionplacesoneworld - Yes, you can just say "bora". By the way (and here goes the 2nd Portuguese lesson of the day), "bora" is just short for "embora", which is the more normal, despite being coloquial, translation of "let's go". As you and your wife probably know by now, we like to "eat" parts of the words. 😄
😁👍 Great
One day, one day I will speak Portuguese 💯 P.s. still waiting reply for my language course, now it's already 4 months 😁😁😁
Skatos kuru reizi un katru kkas jauns. Pat bail skatīties kå jūs ejat uz to alu. Žēl ka "lidotåjs" nenofilmēja...
