The reason Lucy got in despite Daisuke hating colabs is the CGI team for Dual Rulers is the Studio Trigger team (the Cyberpunk Edgerunners animation studio).
It’s not. Dual Rulers is by Sanzigen which is of no relation to Trigger other than being backed by the same holding company and assisting in the 3D scenes of Promare. If it was because of Dual Rulers animation team then they could’ve put Byleth from Fire Emblem or Lio and Galo from Promare in, but that’s about it.
Plus, she has a cropped jacket, Freesia describes her situation perfectly, and it's really funny that a character from a universe where tech got really good so definitely not David Bowie started blowing shit up is in the world where tech got really bad so definitely not Freddie Mercury started blowing shit up.
Actually, *coincidentally* Lucy ended up on the moon at the end of edgerunners, and... you know who else just happens to be on the moon at the end of Strive? That's right -Leopaldon- Asuka. Maybe there's a moment where Asuka will meet Lucy and they will have a bit of an encounter with each other. That's the only way I could see Lucy canonically fitting into the canon without her just appearing out of nowhere.
Plus Asuka analyzing whatever uni hopping gunk she has on her might help get ino and chaos back, (especially since Asuka's the one person who'd like to see them again) Also, Lucy mistaking Potemkin for some Smasher type Cyberpsycho is gonna be funny.
I used to play GG XX growing up with my cousins and I was in love but haven't played any of the more modern games. But after seeing this trailer, I finally decided to buy the game.
Having completely avoided leaks, seeing Lucy announced forced me to sit down so I could process the information. My body was not ready. As a big fan of Edgerunners, I cannot wait see how she plays; and above all else, I cannot fucking wait to see Daisuke write a song about a Cyberpunk character. @@Ryocniel my thoughts exactly. Strive's story has been focused on wrapping up character arcs and how they move forward; Lucy's an absolute shoe-in for that.
I feel like its a good thing, because they can make a unique move set with her because she doesn’t have that many combat sequences, if there isnt any hacking system that comes with her going to flip a table.
I just finished watching cyber punk edgerunners and idk how I got so attached to the characters so fast but the ending had me crying I also didn't know cyberpunk was a franchise aside from the 2077 game and now I'm semi obsessed now, I'm probly gonna wait for a sale to get 2077 either way lol
That was my experience when watching the show for the first time. I really hope they make her stage theme "I Really Want To Stay At Your House" just to salt that wound a little more 😂
Zato buffs were needed. Imagine that DP RRC/White Wild Assault situation, you just lose your turn cuz yer opponent spent resources, no counterplay. Now imagine burst did this, or YRC, they could do it in disadvantage, even if you BAITED those options it still worked. That was Zato, just burst, just YRC, it's how you completely shut him down. No counterplay, he loses Eddie for up to 10 seconds. I still genuinely think that he shouldn't even lose eddie if he blocks burst, and I hope they give him that, it's so lame out playing your opponent and you still go to a near neutral situation at best over it.
2077 is definitely getting a sequel. Lots of interviews about it already. Also hi played lots of fighting games but season 4 including Lucy (and knowing another year at minimum of support is coming) was the push for me to start playing Strive.
I have to say somethin about this season, because its not being discussed an I see it as an issue. I live in Russia, and Im not even ALLOWED to own the season pass, which is funny, because its the first time this happened (I own all the other season passes.). As for thr reason, it wasnt announced, but i bet it has to do with CD Projekt RED and Lucy being part of the package (thank you poland, verry cool). To me personaly its upseting because... I love Strive, and i will probably buy everything standalone (what i will be allowed to, at least), but you know, its an uncomfortable uncertanty. Its an issue that isnt discussed much (+ its HEAVILY political, and everything that has to do with THAT is honestly discusting), and I probably just need to vent my frustrations.

Some people are confused by Lucy being the first guest character, but I can understand why from a worldbuilding and narrative point. Lucy is from a Cyberpunk universe (no duh), a world where technology has advanced to where tech companies run society Guilty Gear, on the other hand, is a Magicpunk universe, a world where magic, alongside approximations of modern-ish technology, have taken society by storm, and taken over for normal technology. The clash of these two world philosophies is likely part of why Lucy was chosen.
The Lucy thing is probably a deal that was made a while ago when cyberpunk was more relevant and prominent in media. And now we see the results of such deal, when the dust has already settled and edgerunner is no longer really a big thing anymore (the show quality is not in question, just its time in the spotlight has passed). The deal was probably made even before the show aired, because if we go by popularity, Rebecca would have gotten her place if the companies were to make the thing now. Comparing to another game collab handled by arcsis, the 2B in granblue was a better move, because she's already proven to be a staying power in the gaming landscape and peoples' minds, so she'll always be (somewhat) relevant and good publicity. I wouldn't say the same for Lucy.
Personally, I am super excited to see what they do with Lucy, but I have to agree that I honestly only ever thought it would be Ragna and if 2B wasn’t already in like 2 fighting games I’d say throw her in there, but I do completely understand. I still think Lucy will be really cool and I’m excited to see the story link they do with it.
I'm so hyped for Lucy! I really hope that ArcSys & CD Projekt Red collaborate together on the writing for her in Strive and make her theme reflective of her loss of David. Curious to see if they'll have her go with Asuka or Axl in her arcade story
"My theory for the Baiken thing is that this patch was to prepare her for the one in October. A one step back into a leap kind of thing." He says breathlessly between long sips from a jug of copium.
My interpretation of Guilty Gears lore is the world is an instance running on a server (the backyard) so I hope they incorporate Lucy in the lore somehow and maybe even have some "hacking reality" kind of moves.
I would wager the reason for Lucy from Edge Runners is coming to GG because Studio Trigger made the anime and they are also working on the GG anime that got revealed at AX. Think they also worked together previously on the Kill la Kill IF game.
I think that unika might be another child of aria and sol, like dizzy and since dizzy got the zoned genes from justice, unika will get the rush down genes from sol
I imagine if the 3v3 mode has competitive legs, then FGC events that have the 3v3 mode will have stations set aside for it all connected up to the venues Broadband network and we'll pseudo-LAN party it
as someone who only just got into the game with strive and then fell off, the announcement of Lucy from Edgerunners got me buying the DLC and starting to play again.
Honestly I’m pretty fine with everything they did for this patch BUT the fact that they buffed elphelt for some reason I don’t know why but I just don’t have a good history with The way people play the character
The patch released two days ago,, let the game develop a bit before dooming, yeah Sin is weaker, he can't steal his turn nearly as easily or as hard as he used to, but he is still a very strong character, honestly for the next patch i just want him to get a cool new bit of tech or a reason to use eat outside of niche oki, slumps and minor high risk WB optimisations. Kara RTL hawk was a funny thing only he could do, every strive character gets some stupid bs, he kinda lost his.
And from what I read, 3v3 mode would work fairly similar to 3v3 in one platform fighter, Flash Party. Only one assist allowed and not a straight tag fighter, powerups. Not that there's anything bad with that. Just that very few know and play flash party and it's like, pretty good. And they created that mode from limitations of being able to run on weak phones.
I think Lucy is included bc Studio Trigger (animators for Edgerunners) and Sanzigen Inc. (animators for the GG anime) are owned by the same parent company (Ultra Super Pictures) and maybe it was a deal between them and Arcsys or something
I hope he explanation is that she's somehow on the moon for too long, Asuka finds her, realizes that she's got tech that is way more advanced than what the great technological catastrophe would've allowed and now he's just bringing her along as a study. also 2B should be in strive next, we need more advanced tech characters so we get more insight on the great technological catastrophe. That could even be why these characters are in Strive. Lucy could've gotten stranded on the moon after being brought into guilt gear, and had to rescued by Asuka.
So the why for Lucy being added is most likely due to the fact that a new cyberpunk game is in the works, 2077 will not be getting any dlcs because they want to focus on their next cyberpunk game (from what i heard) so this is most likely going to be her release around when they start teasing the game or announce it
came here for the patch discussion, stayed for the Ape Escape jams Edit: as a Baiken main, if Slayer wasn't in this game right now I probably wouldn't be playing it lol guess he's my new main now
Lucy is truly random but in a fun way. As a weeb i am i have seen a lot of media about her ( maybe she's not that popular now, but she sure was 2 years ago) even through i didn't watch edgerunners. So she is known enough and it will be super interesting to see how they will implement her in ggst lore. Lucy just shows that strive isn't completely divided from other animes and we may see other crossovers.
The DP invul to throws was probably to further reduce ‘needless’ mix up moments. Strive leans super heavy into mix ups, so much so, that people complain in certain matchups of situations, feels like what happens is due to luck (not solely the case, but so many guesses have to made in like 5 seconds). And Lucy being the first (only?) guest character may have some sense to it. First, the CyberPunk anime isn’t just extremely popular in Japan, but the west as well. And two, however they decide to adapt her into a fighting game, Daisuke has an odd level of respect for lore (pls resurrect kliff). So most likely Lucy is the only one of the main cast who you could write an arcade story that takes pace after the story (if you know, you know). Kinda wish it was Adam smasher, but Lucy was also probably chosen because… waifu. She’ll easily bring in the most people in strive out of all the character. Though she’s not the most suited to be put into strive, it probably is the best choice in terms of the game being retained in the more average audience’s mind. And personally, I’m kinda excited because she has the least obvious gamestyle, and well, you already get to see Adam in all his 3D goodness in the actual game
My Guess why Lucy is in strive is that the same studio who made edgerunners is going to work on the strive anime so this is a sorta test to see how they handle the strive system and style
At first I thought Lucy getting added would be because the studio that made edgerunners would be the same making the GG anime, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I haven't dug too deep but i would bet the connection is there somewhere haha
I genuinely LoL when you where talking about J@$#%! Also i have a feeling maybe Lucy's character design might draw from Rumble Fish 2's Sheryl. And Anji Bros continue to rise! I have no expectations for Lucy, just a bunch of fan theories for how she could work and that’s fun unlike Ragna where I have a whole series of Arcsys produced games to predict how he’d play down to the normals
Sol with low HP and life steal. If you're gonna go through the effort of adding a guest character, I want them to be interesting mechanically.
Granted, now how would Barney in Strive be to you
It's definitely unexpected and no one would be guessing that?

“Lucy makes no sense as a guilty gear character!”
Since when has making sense been a requirement?
The reason Lucy got in despite Daisuke hating colabs is the CGI team for Dual Rulers is the Studio Trigger team (the Cyberpunk Edgerunners animation studio).
Source?
OH?
"Lucy? Unfortunately I don't have any diamonds..."
Plus Asuka analyzing whatever uni hopping gunk she has on her might help get ino and chaos back, (especially since Asuka's the one person who'd like to see them again) Also, Lucy mistaking Potemkin for some Smasher type Cyberpsycho is gonna be funny.

Have fun! I’ve found Strive to be a good new player experience, even this late in the development cycle.
@@fiascothe63rdyeah, this might be one of the few fighting games that still manages to be noob friendly even nearly 4 years in
as a massive cyberpunk edgerunners fan, I spent 2 seconds questioning why it was her and then went back to thinking "aw hell yeah man this is awesome"
That's gonna be the techo-metal tune of my dreams
Also, consider her arcade story. From what point in the show is she being pulled? this could be some good shit.
@@screeno42 if Lucy's arcade mode is her coming to terms with the ending of Edgerunners, that would be insane.

I just finished watching cyber punk edgerunners and idk how I got so attached to the characters so fast but the ending had me crying
I also didn't know cyberpunk was a franchise aside from the 2077 game and now I'm semi obsessed now, I'm probly gonna wait for a sale to get 2077 either way lol
That was my experience when watching the show for the first time. I really hope they make her stage theme "I Really Want To Stay At Your House" just to salt that wound a little more 😂
Guys...
It Ragnover...
Taggover even.
As someone who you convinced to play baiken... this one hurt...
We got a crumb of a buff this patch, next patch, surely, we will be back to stay
12:00 me as a justice main in +r is really happy to hear this
Personally, I feel that Ragna from Blazblue should have been the first collab Character for GG.
2077 is definitely getting a sequel. Lots of interviews about it already. Also hi played lots of fighting games but season 4 including Lucy (and knowing another year at minimum of support is coming) was the push for me to start playing Strive.
I'm eating so good right now, the buffs are delicious. I might need someone to explain to me how the wavedash works though...

Maybe you can try to buy the pass using a VPN? I'm not sure if it'll work

Some people are confused by Lucy being the first guest character, but I can understand why from a worldbuilding and narrative point.
Lucy is from a Cyberpunk universe (no duh), a world where technology has advanced to where tech companies run society
Guilty Gear, on the other hand, is a Magicpunk universe, a world where magic, alongside approximations of modern-ish technology, have taken society by storm, and taken over for normal technology.
The clash of these two world philosophies is likely part of why Lucy was chosen.
It's crazy that GranBlue said that their next story was going to come out "When Tomorrow Comes." That company has balls!
10:28 Dizzy "hiding" Necro & Undine with her Queen Dress is hilarious to me.
"ORDER in the assembly, *please"*
Genuinely, I think this patch will bring so much new life to the game. While RC DP is a GG staple, I think it'll make strive thrive!
We can only hope
My interpretation of Guilty Gears lore is the world is an instance running on a server (the backyard) so I hope they incorporate Lucy in the lore somehow and maybe even have some "hacking reality" kind of moves.
Now that the doors have opened, I'm really curious to see what guest characters people would want for next season?
I would wager the reason for Lucy from Edge Runners is coming to GG because Studio Trigger made the anime and they are also working on the GG anime that got revealed at AX. Think they also worked together previously on the Kill la Kill IF game.
I think that unika might be another child of aria and sol, like dizzy and since dizzy got the zoned genes from justice, unika will get the rush down genes from sol
if 3 was rush down and 4 is zoner, that must mean 5 is gonna be GRAPPLER SEASON LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO

Lucy is such an interesting dlc character! Can’t wait to see how she plays!
Yeah depression kicked in when I saw baiken didn't get any buffs
Calling it now: Lucy launches, people complain she's OP for a week, then realize she's actually mid-tier. Exactly what happened with Negan in Tekken.
I like how you wall broke with wild assault at 10:17 even though I'm sure you realized that doesn't work anymore once you did it
as someone who only just got into the game with strive and then fell off, the announcement of Lucy from Edgerunners got me buying the DLC and starting to play again.
Honestly I’m pretty fine with everything they did for this patch BUT the fact that they buffed elphelt for some reason I don’t know why but I just don’t have a good history with The way people play the character
Im so excited for Lucy. I stopped playing after Asuka. But now Im so back!
I just really wanna know what the hell Daisuke's cooking up for Lucy's theme
I don't think Baiken deserved any buffs as compensation, however, as a Sin main, I also expected some buffs. In the end, we are the same, you and I.
Only recently started maining sin, in shambles
The patch released two days ago,, let the game develop a bit before dooming, yeah Sin is weaker, he can't steal his turn nearly as easily or as hard as he used to, but he is still a very strong character, honestly for the next patch i just want him to get a cool new bit of tech or a reason to use eat outside of niche oki, slumps and minor high risk WB optimisations. Kara RTL hawk was a funny thing only he could do, every strive character gets some stupid bs, he kinda lost his.
@@Okami_HD "every strive character gets some stupid bs, he kinda lost his."
he's got plenty.
Sin players when now they have to block.
@@lostvayne9146 He meant in terms of like wacky stupid bs, not just actual annoying stupid bs. At least I think lol
Dizzy redesign looks so good. 3 years of waiting, like about time maiden of the grove returns, welp see u in October
Wait... I thought this was a meme...
We got Lucy from edgerunners before Robo-Ky... Damn
I'm bummed out that Heayhan isn't coming to Strive in Season 4. I will admit that 3v3 mode is pretty cool though.
So the why for Lucy being added is most likely due to the fact that a new cyberpunk game is in the works, 2077 will not be getting any dlcs because they want to focus on their next cyberpunk game (from what i heard) so this is most likely going to be her release around when they start teasing the game or announce it
I think lucy might have been transported through a portal or something of the sort
I mean, Asuka and Lucy are both on the moon, in their respective universes.

Bro wholeass forgot about the technological state of Zepp
Unika is either going to play like Justice, or like Order Sol, and there is no other options
My Guess why Lucy is in strive is that the same studio who made edgerunners is going to work on the strive anime so this is a sorta test to see how they handle the strive system and style
Can't wait for Homer Simpson in season 5
Dizzy looks so cuuuute and elegant with her hair all done up 😊 cant wait to hate playing against her
I guess I’ll have to wait for season 5 for full random summon on hit ZAPPA
At first I thought Lucy getting added would be because the studio that made edgerunners would be the same making the GG anime, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I haven't dug too deep but i would bet the connection is there somewhere haha
WE SO BACK BABY!!!
Strive gonna become crazy mvc3 like with that 3v3 mode❤. Dayum
I genuinely LoL when you where talking about J@$#%! Also i have a feeling maybe Lucy's character design might draw from Rumble Fish 2's Sheryl. And Anji Bros continue to rise! My friends and I have said this exact thing. This feels like the most balanced and healthiest Strive has been. Minus Baiken and apparently Zato still according to Zato mains. But they always be doomin fr fr
hilarious and great video!
Rudy from mushoku tensei would've made sense with all the guilty gear references in season 1 (he literally mains Dizzy) but im weirdly satisfied with Lucy
My guess as to why the guest character is Lucy, is that the studio doing the GG anime is apart of the same larger company as studio trigger
