No one seems to be talking about how Slayer uses one hand to block at first, then after a few more hits he frowns, and then he frowns harder and uses two hands to block. That's such a cute and funny detail.

@@filthyjones6150 to give a serious answer a little late, “Dandy” is a reference to a few things. Firstly, in Slayer’s Strive victory screen, he writes up a little haiku, and performs it. Then, an announcer says the word, “Dandy” as it is stamped with approval.
On another note, Slayer in canon is a practitioner, as well as the founder of, a philosophy called “Dandyism”. It, and its tenants, essentially tell you to live life with hope and determination, completing your goals with force and grace.

5:19 That is not what a rekka is, I don't think there is a specific name for specials with different follow ups. Rekka are specials that can be chained together in a specific order, like Chipp or Ram, and unlike Anji

Strange thing with Super Mappa Hunch, sometimes it does like 2 times the damage... idk why...
It seems to be related to distance between the players. Around round start distance it seems to hit twice. I hope is intentional and not a bug
Super Mappa Hunch has a clean hit on it standing around round start range that gives it a second hit and does much more dange.
Slayer comes into this game with his entire playstyle unchanged, but they had to do THAT to my on- block Samurai queen? The world's not fair, man.
I'm a fairly newer Guilty Gear player, and I was struggling to find the character for me. It felt like I went through half the cast, and then mister slayer comes out and I KNEW IT WAS HIM. it was him he's the best PILEBUNKER

IMO, slayer needs a few tweaks to be balanced, I feel like the full screen super needs to have a few frames after the super freeze for the other to react, because right now you can’t RC, or anything else other than block or DP in neutral +0. Also, I think the high-low off dandy step should be just a few frames longer so it’s reactible
If you are at the right distance from the corner, hand of doom has a wall bounce effect similar to sol’s jD
im not sure if im crazy or not, however if you press the dash button and immidiately after you jump, your jump is covered in like a purple aura for a second, i got no clue if thats supposed to immitate backdash cancel into a jump or not but its a cool thing
Does the 100% tension super wall break in the corner before or after the opponent re-bounds on the screen?
fun fact: after BSU you can press 2S and it safejabs some reversals! i've only tested on sol S volcanic viper but i cant be bothered to lab any more so do with this info what you will.

Something funny about Super Mappa Hunch: it has a (probably) unintentional sweetspot. If you stand a little further back than the distance of zatos shadow it hits twice and fucking deletes people lol

Back dash cancel is actually still in the game, its just a movement tech now instead of invincibility. So like a normal kara but still executed like the old games.
I managed to beat a floor 9 player using Slayer and I've only had the game 2 weeks I love this dandy man
Personally as someone with chronic joint pain I think it's a very good thing they removed backdash cancel, though it probably would've been better if he had at least another move or two like hand of doom. probably a lot to develop though, and he already has a really complete moveset, so it's fair enough

Oh yeah, I did notice I did more damage in training mode when I threw out Supper Mappa Hunch to see it. Good to know for the one time I’ll ever use it! (can you tell I’m on floor 5 yet?)
@Oliver-Thyella well something you should know is that it is spacing oriented and that regardless of how you space it, the first hit breaks the wall on the wall stick. The only way to combo into it is to mappa hunch at the right time at the end of a combo at just the right distance away from the wall
Edit: After experimenting with it, you can easily set it up with close slash heavy slash into super mappa hunch
Is kinda weird how Slayer plays in Strive.
There are some interactions that feel like You understand the said interaction , and then he just wins...
In my experience slayer gets hard countered by Johnny’s mist finer, due to its disjoint and the fact it beats all his approach options
didn't mention the Supper mappa punch sweet spot OR the fact you can loop C.S into F.S into C.S into F.S
I call universe counter hit "universe install" because when i get hit by it, it makes me want to "uninstall"

Want to correct and say that backdash is frame 1 strike and throw invul. 1-5 full frame invul, 15f recovery. An underutilized technique is to replace stand block with backdash against reactable moves that are plus on block like goldlewis overheads, leo overhead (hard), sol's fafnir and either be + on backdash or potentially punish-able with throw etc.
Setup your backdash on a ready finger like L1 to be able to use it on reaction. From experience, EXTREMELY good against these 3 characters and these moves. It's a hard technique due to the additional input + timing aspect (can't be done too early) and it has high potential.
So in the long term, it's a very strong strategy, since it's one of the few true frame 1 invul reaction abilities. True, meaning it doesn't require directional inputs like supers and dp so it is frame 1 in terms of reaction. Ofc Leo is the exception here with a true frame 1 dp and insane undiscovered defensive potential.

So backdash canceling isn't entirely gone. It's there, along with normal dash canceling, but I don't believe there's much use in using it. Also hand of doom has some presence in rc combos since it causes a wall bounce

Seeing Bedman? get cooked by Slayer is very relatable because it happened to me basically every time, I fight him. I'm already not very good at the game as is this absolute menace to society doesn't make that any better also, he hasn't been out for a day yet and people are still monsters with this guy! Hell, there's a small chance that Bedman? *was* me! It probably wasn't but there's still a chance it was since pinning my enemy to the corner only to fuck up the only good combo because I suck with inputs it looked like something I'd do. Also, people who know more about the inner workings of this move correct me if I'm wrong... But it seems Last Horizon doesn't have any invincibility frames or at least very few since I've just hit them out of it with White Wild Assault...
