      It's pretty close between Dooku and Vader. But in my book, there are only 2 Sith who are stronger than Vader: Sidious and Vitiate. One is his master and the other one was basically a god. Vader would have been a god too, eventually surpassing everyone by far. But you will see why that didn't happen in the next movie.

    Not having attachments is not the same as not having feelings. The Jedi are always saying "Trust your feelings" or "use your feelings". Attachment is different. You can feel love for something but you have to be ready to let go of it when the time comes.

    • @kennyhudson9201
      @kennyhudson9201 2 месяца назад +1

      But if you feel love for something, shouldn't at least be able to try and preserve it? Sure be ready to let it go if you have to, but surely you should be able to fight against it being taken away by evil people?

    • @oneironaut420
      @oneironaut420 2 месяца назад +5

      @@kennyhudson9201 Yes you can, but ultimately, you will have to let it go. Nothing lasts forever, everything goes away and comes to an end, and clinging to it is what causes suffering.

    • @kennyhudson9201
      @kennyhudson9201 2 месяца назад

      @@oneironaut420 See, I don't know why, but I just can't agree with that. What causes suffering is losing the pleasure and enjoyment of life that the love for that person or thing provided to your existence. And that is fair. Just because nothing lasts forever doesn't mean that losing it should have no negative effect on you.
      This is clearly bias on my part, but I think if you don't suffer from the loss, then you didn't love as deeply as one who does. And experiencing that deeper love is worth the suffering. Maybe not for people with superpowers, because they could singlehandedly harm everyone else if they allow the suffering to drive them to something violent. But for regular people, that sort of intentional barrier against a deeper connection, is depriving oneself of true feelings, not just intellectual ones. But the animal ones that can't be fully explained.

    • @oneironaut420
      @oneironaut420 2 месяца назад +6

      @@kennyhudson9201 The idea of detachment is a very basic part of Buddhism and Taoism, which many aspects of the Force are based on. It may seem counterintuitive to western minds but people have been putting this mindset into practice for centuries. Clinging to something that is gone only causes your mind unrest and suffering. To try to make a single beautiful note last forever is to ruin the melody. To pine after something that is gone just restimulates the pain of having lost it. Many people treat relationships this way. Not all relationships are meant to last forever; some are only meant to last as long as they last, but clinging to them or trying to make them last longer then they should only ruins the purpose they were meant to serve while it was happening.
      We saw what happens when Anakin couldn’t let go of Padme. His efforts to keep her only made things worse for him. It went beyond merely protecting. He tried to force an outcome and it ended up very badly for everyone involved.

    @CDRhammond 2 месяца назад +5

    Dooku was said to be the master of form 2 of lightsaber combat. Form 2 is the closest to what a fencer would use to fight with a sword like the Rapier. It's also one of the forms most effective against the form Obi-Wan used which is one of the reasons Obi-Wan always gets his butt handed to him by Dooku every time they met. Form 2 was one of the forms that fell out of style in the jedi order as it is built on saber vs saber combat, and it was believed up till the events of episode 1 that the Sith were gone. When Dooku chose to learn form 2 it was frowned on by the Jedi since they believed the only threat would come from a blaster.
    This made Dooku a very deadly threat after his fall to the dark side as very few Jedi were capable of matching his skill with a light saber.

    I remember watching this in the theatre as a kid, everyone was dressed up like Padme and wearing the whole setup and lightsabers, whole room was packed and it was awesome. When Obi-Wan is chasing Jango, Jango released those LOUD depth charges - I still remember it shaking the walls and it left the biggest impression on me as a young man, it was so loud hearing those things explode. I know this movie gets hate from "hardcore" sw fans, but I love it and seeing your reaction (when Obi-Wan jumps out the window and Ani chases in his speeder car, Yoda coming in with the speed and strength) it reminds me how difficult it is to get a reaction, out of anyone, and how hard it must be to make movies. Thanks for picking up this series, it's been fun to watch along with you. Can't wait for the next one
    as for the question, who is stronger ? Most fans will tell you straight up it's gonna be Vader, but Dooku (played by the late Christopher Lee, an amazing actor who was in countless films and even part of Rhapsody of Fire narrations) wins the award for on-screen action. His fight in this movie outplays both jedi and even Yoda, so i would say he is indeed very powerful, but he knew Yoda was stronger and that Yoda would choose to safe a life rather than defeat him in battle, so he ran away. great question

    I can't f*cking wait to see the next movie reaction. The way this all plays out.
    I'll say this, for the record... Dooku was an exceptional swordsman, Obi-Wan is good at this time but he's only still a young master. He becomes so much better in the next movie too. It's his experience during the Clone Wars that changes him. Dooku owned them both but that's why Obi-Wan wanted Anakin to do it together. If he listened, maybe this could have all been avoided.
    It's a weird line too huh... Yoda trained Dooku, Dooku trained Qui-Gon, Qui-Gon trained Obi-Wan, and Obi-Wan trained Anakin.

    Fun fact: Samuel L. Jackson asked the producers if his character could have a purple lightsaber, so he could find himself easily during the Battle of Geonosis in the sea of blue and green lightsabers....and because it's his favorite color. (Mine too, honestly)

    So a few things they don’t explain:
    Master Syfodyas was Dooku’s buddy. They used his name to order the clones.
    Teacher > Student:
    Yoda > Dooku/Darth Tyranus > Qui Gon > Obi Wan > Anakin
    Dooku is mainly working to destabilize the republic. His master is playing both sides to create chaos and sometimes does things without telling Dooku.
    The Jedi can see bits of the future and while they can’t read minds they understand if someone’s intent. The chaos and dark side disrupts the force though so they can’t see anything even if it’s right under their noses.
    The Evil Sith master pulling the strings is banking on that. It’s all smoke and mirrors on stage though while the real trick is picking their pockets from within the crowd. Now they’re stuck with a war on their hands so even if they wanted to look they can’t. Just like yoda wanted to take Dooku but was more concerned with saving lives instead.

Or was it something that Karen Traviss forced down our throats in Republic Commando, hot on the heels of her aliens-have-TWO anatomy lessons in her own series?

    39:10 Yep, you're right on there. So part of the Jedi not sensing some of this is they have enjoyed peace for 1k years, so their guards are down. But also with Darth Sidious, he's using the dark side of the force to cloud the judgment of the Jedi in a way, you'll see more in episode 3. Dooku isn't working with the senate, but trying to get other planets to basically break away from the senate and the republic and join them. Something you should check out is "Star Wars, Clone Wars (2003)". You can find in real fast posted on YT, the whole series is about 2 hours long. It was made as a bunch of short 10 ish minute episodes, and shows a lot of what happens between episode 2 and 3. It uses visuals more than words to tell the story. It similar to samurai jack in that sense.
    Vader is far stronger than Dooku. After episode 3, you should watch Rogue One, for reasons you'll see. ^_^

    It's funny watching reactors react to the Star Wars movies and missing so many key details. Those of us who grew up and watched the original trilogy in theaters and over and over again on TV and VHS knew all the little details like the back of our hand. We watched them for 20 years before the prequels came out. Reactors watch the original trilogy movies once and so the little things are lost on them. But we saw the references to those little things in the prequels and went nuts! One example is Boba Fett. We grew up knowing he was a badass bounty hunter. So seeing his backstory in this movie was so cool!

    We're constantly told how Yoda was a "great warrior", but finally seeing him do so made the hype worth it. As for Anakin, this film perfectly highlights EXACTLY why the Council didn't want recruits so old. He's basically one of the main things wrong with the Jedi and definitely doesn't deserve to hold the title of Jedi Knight: he's constantly whining about training, mouths off to both instructors & enemies alike, has a LOT of emotional baggage, doesn't listen to the rules (no relationships is a key tenant for the Order), and he regularly disobeys Kenobi's orders. He might have a talent for combat, but for all his talent, the Order should have kicked him to the curb YEARS ago.

      We’re just gonna ignore the Jedi’s outright rejection at the beginning, their arrogance and complacency to not know the Sith was under their nose the entire time (that led to Qui-Gon’s death - the one person who actually cared about him and would’ve been the perfect teacher)? Or the fact that they stopped really helping people and being peacekeepers centuries ago and turned into Senate attack dogs essentially? They may still be “good guys” but they’re not faultless. If they were doing their job, Anakin would’ve never been a slave in the first place and they would’ve found him as a child. The Jedi Order had problems way before Anakin showed up lol.

    Good thing I caught this now.... as I'm doing a live-stream soon..... but I've got time for you, Devin! Especially for your Star Wars education, and my live-stream isn't "set in stone". So let's do this. =D
    1:30 - Good thing Amidala uses "doubles", right? (I know a small portion of your history.... what you've mentioned before... and nothing but massive respect for you and everyone else who served (I have family, both blood and not, that have served.... and I appreciate you ALL!). With that said, Amidala used the same kind of doubles that many political leaders have used in history. Saddam Hussein being one of the more recent ones I can think of with body doubles.)
    2:05 - No, they thought that was her. Otherwise, they would have targeted her directly. Knowingly killing a "body double" isn't the kind of strategy anyone uses, at least, not that I can think of. If you know different, please.... educate me.
    2:45 - The Dark Side of The Force is clouding the vision of the Jedi, even the Jedi Council. No spoilers, but I will say that this is being done deliberately by the "Shadow" Sith Lord (that SHOULD be evident, at this point.... especially given the title of the Episode I).
    3:55 - Oh, yeah.... welcome to 10 years after The Phantom Menace. Anakin is now 19, Padme is now 24, and Obi-Wan is in his mid 30s. (Just to help you there).
    5:45 - Not only that, but it's also against the Jedi Code.
    9:00 - Also, remember what Obi-Wan told Luke about his father in Episode IV: "He was the best star-pilot in the galaxy."
    9:40 - "That boy's timing on POINT! What if he missed?!" .... Remember what Qui-Gon said to Anakin's mother: "He can see things before they happen. That's why he appears to have such quick reflexes." Don't get me wrong, Kenobi is a great Jedi, but Anakin had the kind of "Force Vision" that Obi-Wan could only wish for. Anakin turned away from the chase, to make the prey think they'd illuded him, got somewhere ahead, let Obi-Wan chastise him a bit.... then jumped overboard with the line "Excuse me" at just the perfect time to grab onto the would-be assassin's ship. THAT is how powerful Anakin was with The Force.
    11:35 - The first rule of hiring an assassin: Kill the assassin. For the very reason you mentioned.
    12:50 - The Jedi as a whole, are experiencing (and this is a commentary of my opinion without "spoiling" anything.... (I saw this when I first saw this movie in theaters) a hubris and an arrogance believing that they were invulnerable. Aside from the "Sith Warrior" (Maul) from a decade ago, nothing more had been heard from their ancient enemy for a long time. While Maul was believed to be a Sith, the Jedi didn't really know that for sure. Of course, he DID use the Dark Side of The Force.... but was he actually trained in the "Ancient Ways" of the Sith? THAT was unknown, and by this time, the question was even forgotten. (Notice, I'm only bringing up what has been revealed in Episode I and (so far) in Episode II. I like to be VERY careful about that). Anyway.... the Jedi Order (as a whole) believe, at this point, that the Sith are extinct. A "logical fallacy" that breeds complacency. This, I'm sure you recognize. The more complacent one becomes, the more vulnerable one becomes because of it.
    13:10 - Notice, BOTH of them are more worried about their particular charges "doing something" than the other....
    13:20 - Okay... while amusing (that line is), there's a reason for it. On "public transport", it's generally assumed that passengers couldn't afford "droid servants" (if they can afford a servant droid, why are they using public transport?), but "employing" droids as manual labor is almost expected (why pay a "sentient" being over time when you can "buy" a droid to do the same job for a "one time" cost?).... Remember, droids are considered "lower life forms" (read: slaves) despite them obviously having an AI capable of emotions. (That's deep AF, isn't it, Devon?)
    14:10 - Pretty much. Attachments to a loved one CAN lead to the Dark Side. Why? Because (and I know this from personal experience) what wouldn't you sacrifice to save them? If you knew someone you cared about was going to die... how far would you go to "save" them from that fate? (I was widowed in 2006.... ask me what I wouldn't have given up to save her life.)
    16:35 - Devon.... just imagine that. An army made up of Clones, all of the same person. "Totally obedient, willing to accept ANY order without question". Trained since "birth" (or, what passes for that in a lab like that)..... Be honest... if you were a citizen of the Galactic Republic... how would you feel about that? An army, bred for combat, and every one of them a clone of the same person... so that you wouldn't have to volunteer yourself. (Humans on Earth planet HAVE reached the level of technology to be able to clone animals (google "Dolly the sheep").... but imagine if we got to the point of "mass producing" clones of humans, and built an army of them...... Think of the moral implications of that.)

    • @IggyStardust1967
      @IggyStardust1967 2 месяца назад

      (Sorry, man... I actually DID have to interrupt the video/comment last night, but I'm back, now. Let's finish this!)
      22:50 - Remember in Episode I, when Qui-Gon took Anakin away, Anakin said to his mother: "I will come back and free you. I promise." Well... here's his chance, just not in the way he thought.
      25:00 - Also, the Tuskins are very similar to a cross between Native Americans and the Arabic tribes that roam the deserts of the Middle East and northern Africa, except more "brutal". They live a nomadic, simplistic lifestyle, and consider certain areas as "theirs", and everyone else is an intruder that can be "captured" for whatever purpose they deem them fit. If you stick with Star Wars for the "long term", you will learn more about them beyond what we see in the movies. While we don't know everything this tribe did to Anakin's mother, we can tell that the treatment was quite harsh. But we can also infer that she was a very strong person to survive it for a month. But, yeah.... Anakin is about to lose his shit.
      25:35 - If you listen closely, as Yoda senses what has happened with Anakin, you can hear Qui-Gon's voice calling to Anakin, and Anakin's voice cry out, "NOOOO!!!" No doubt Mace Windu (about to join the scene) also sensed something from The Force, but Yoda (being the Jedi Grand-Master) sensed more of it.
      26:55 - Remember that exchange between Obi-Wan and Padme's head of security? "I'd be more concerned with HER doing something, than HIM." This is why he said that.
      32:15 - Okay, something you should know (this is not a spoiler), Jango Fett was a well known Jedi killer. He was a Mandalorian "Foundling" (this was detailed in comic books, which I don't expect you to track down, so it's fair game telling you)... a Foundling is a child adopted by a Mandalorian, and raised within that culture. Mandalorians have a very LONG history of conflicts with the Jedi. They aren't "evil", per se, but they refuse to adhere to the "rules" of others. The armour and weapons that Mandalorians utilize were specifically designed to counter both lightsabers and a Jedi's ability to use The Force. That's a simple telling of the backstory, and again, if you keep delving beyond just the movies (which I recommend) you will learn a lot more about them.
      33:00 - Yes. Yoda "took delivery" (on behalf of the Republic) of the first group of Clone troopers. They have arrived at Geonosis to rescue the Jedi Knights that survived the initial battle.
      35:20 - Christopher Lee (who played Dooku) was in fact a legitimate master swordsman. While there was a "body double" doing the more physical stuff, Lee was much respected on set for his extensive knowledge of sword fighting. Even at his advanced age, his reputation proceeded him. Also, as you can tell, Dooku had fallen to the Dark Side. If a Jedi that was as well respected as the actor playing him can fall....
      36:00 - Yeah, pretty much everyone seeing this (from my generation) expected Anakin's right arm to get lopped off at some point. I mean, we saw in Return of the Jedi that Vader/Anakin had a robotic right hand.
      36:35 - Also, remember what Yoda told Luke: "Judge me by my size, do you? As well you should not. For MY ally is The Force. And a powerful ally it is." Yoda is ~875 years old here (give or take).... and while he "normally" is physically limited, he can, as you're about to witness, able to use The Force to enhance his abilities, and whoop some serious ass.
      37:40 - Sometimes, the biggest lie you can tell, is the truth. Dooku literally DID tell Obi-Wan the truth, that a bunch of Senators are under the influence of the Dark Lord of the Sith. But, because it's been revealed that Dooku has turned to the Dark Side, his admission is dismissed as a lie. Obi-Wan questioned if it was the truth or not, but the Jedi Council (in their hubris) dismissed that piece of information as a lie, told to sow distrust in the Senate. Darth Sidious does indeed have influence over many Senators, and he started with the Trade Federation's with their blockade of Naboo 10 years ago. Which, also, was around the same time the "order" was placed with the Kaminoans to create the clone army.
      For the next 3 years and change, the entire galaxy will be plunged into war. The Separatists vs the Galactic Republic. Many stories pertaining to that war are told in the Clone Wars animated series.
      I'm going to give you a piece of advice, my friend..... there are certain episodes of that series that are "essential" viewing, going forward. But, go ahead and watch Episode III first.... because you don't want spoilers for that. "The Clone Wars" animated movie, season 5 episodes 17-20, and all of season 7 (it's a "short" season, so go ahead and watch them all) will help you going forward. If you have time, watch the entire series.... but those episodes will really put Revenge of the Sith into perspective. Plus, prepare you for the other shows going forward.
      38:30 - Yep. Married in secret, on Naboo.... with only the person performing the ceremony, and their droids as witnesses.
      39:45 - Actually, Dooku does not work for the Senate. He specifically works for the Sith Lord (Darth Sidious), but has influence with the Separatist movement of star systems. Yes, he is pulling their strings, but they also want to leave the Galactic Republic on their own, because they want to play by their own rules. In a way, because you watched the Original Trilogy already, you know (to a point) how this plays out.... Darth Sidious will end up as Emperor of the galaxy, the question is exactly HOW he does this. VERY minor spoiler (because it only makes sense), is that you will learn that in Episode III, as well as how he turns Anakin to the Dark Side, fully, and why he ends up needing that life support suit.
      As for your final question..... no, I'm not answering that one.
