Yeah, that's crazy! Chancellor Palpatine is the leader of the Republic, the solution we need to the separatist threat. We need to rally behind him during these difficult times. Go Palpatine!!!
@@Elfanater It was later on mentioned that guy that got his arm cut off in the Cantina, that his species doesn't bleed the same as humans so it wasn't cauterized.
And one can see the retroactive relation - the Clone Troopers are the precursor to Stormtroopers, so they look like stormtroopers because stormtrooper armour is _based on clone armour_ .
Clone Troopers are worth more than any stormtrooper. Loyal and brothers in arms. Stormtroopers are soulless soldiers and only have power in numbers. Also, clones can hit their targets.
Something they don’t talk about in the movies really is that Anakin had a hard time between 1 & 2. Many other younglings and padawans disliked him because he was so naturally gifted and was ahead of them even though he started at a much later age. And the council was always cautious about his fast growth and skill. At one point he seriously considered leaving the order because he was so frustrated with everything and confused about his place in the galaxy, but ultimately obi wan convinced him to stick with it. I feel like that explains a little more about his arrogance and frustration in his late teens
also the movies kinda gloss over the fact that the order was a powerful cult that brainwashed their members and forced them to abandon personhood pretty much
@@Jalynfein Star Wars has a vast lore between comics, books, and games. Some of which that came out between 1 and 2 detailing more about Anakins padawan training. It wasn't after the fact just because you didn't know about it. George Lucas had 3 movies to tell the story of the prequels that he wanted to tell. May seem like a lot but look at something like Lord of the Rings which also had 3 movies and still had to leave out tons of lore and backstory. All the more reason to appreciate the expanded universe of Star Wars that exists outside of the movies.
To clarify the sand line when he touched Padmes skin, it’s to show the difference in the way they grew up, to anakin sand reminds him of being enslaved, and of all the hardships he endured on Tatooine, but she remembers it as nothing but relaxing
Yeah I was thinking about that... everyone likes to make a meme of that line but honestly if I grew up on Tatooine under those conditions with the constant sand storms I would have some strong views about it as well.
I understood this. The problem isn't the line, it's the way it's said. The problem I see with Hayden's acting is how he delivers his lines. I always felt his emotions never coordinated with what he was saying.
@@modernjosephus356 Hayden was mimicking Darth Vader's speech patterns throughout the prequels. If you watch any behind the scenes stuff from that time you can hear him speak normal.
I tear up every time I hear Anakin say, “I HATE THEM!” From what I remember from the novel, that beautiful scene of green fields and the waterfalls in the background, with Anakin and Padme sitting on the grass. When I saw that it theaters I said, “That’s it!” This is the moment that Darth Vader smelled and felt and remembered when Luke took off his helmet. This is the memory that brought Anakin back. He saw Padme in Luke. You are really getting the hang of this. This is your best reaction yet!
The politics are pretty straight forward. At the start of the film, a number of systems (the Separatists, led by Count Dooku) have broken their allegiance to the Republic. At this point, both Padme and the Jedi think they can negotiate a peaceful solution to the political unrest. What they don't know is that Count Dooku is secretly working with the Sith to start an intergalactic war. While the Separatists are busy building a droid army, the Clone Army has been secretly built on the behalf of the Republic - a very convenient coincidence which comes in handy just when the Jedi and Republic need it the most. The Clone Wars are the war between the Separatists and their battle droid army and the Republic and their Clone trooper army, led by the Jedi. Also, notice that the Sith at the end are happy that a galactic war has begun. This is what they were working towards from the very moment the Trade Federation blockaded Naboo in the first movie
Anakin fears losing the ones he loves, and fears losing respect from those around him. This fear leads him to anger at those who oppose him, hate what they stand for and Anakin suffers a great deal as a result.
It wouldn’t have come to that if Obi Wan had allowed Anakin to be himself instead of trying to force Anakin into a Jedi mold that the council wanted, a mold that would never suit Anakin. Anakin needed more freedom without the constraints of the Jedi code and an outlet for his feelings. Also Obi Wan should’ve tried being more compassionate and understanding towards Anakin.
That's also why they thought he was too old at 9 to start training. If a Jedi is taken as a newborn, no way to create those attachments like Anakin has with his mother. No attachments, no fear of losing that person... Anakin loves his mother and fear of losing her is not a good thing for a Jedi to deal with.
Stormtroopers are not clones, they can only wish they were. Clones were designed and bred for combat, they were the most effective soldiers the galaxy had ever seen, stormtroopers are just people who volunteered for military service.
Stormtroopers do not volunteer they are literally kidnapped and force into working for the empire sometimes they’re even taken as children and trained from a really young age…
@@raybernal6829You are wrong, the empire never kidnapped children to join the army, they were all volunteers trained in military academies like in real life, those who kidnapped children will be the first order
The relationship between Anakin and Padme has more sense with the deleted scenes from the original footage. If you can take a look at these deleted scenes, you will like it even more. It´s a great chemistry.
Did you notice that Darth Sidious called Dooku Darth Tyranus at the end? Which means two things: he is a Sith Lord and the new apprentice after Darth Maul and he was the one who recruited Jango Fett to create the Clone Army. Just a little hint. 🙃😉
Anakin was a special case for the Jedi. The Jedi forbid attachment because they worry that such feelings could lead to the dark side. Their solution at this point in time is to induct children as toddlers before they can form attachments to their families and then raise them in an environment where they're basically told to meditate their problems away. Jedi aren't really taught to deal with their emotions, they're mostly taught to ignore them (the Jedi were not perfect at this point in time, and not just because of this philosophy) Anakin had already experienced attachment and because he was naturally attuned to the Force, he was leagues ahead of a lot of other Jedi children his age and yet he was behind in a lot of educational things that they knew due to being a slave. This resulted not only in his arrogance in his Force abilities, because he did legitimately feel like he understood things the others didn't, but also in him not really being able to form friendships with the other Jedi children and a number of them bullied him because of his background. So he was isolated, yet knew attachment, in an environment where they don't teach you how to deal with your emotions but just tell you to ignore them. It's for this reason that Qui Gon was the one who needed to train him for this boy to have any chance; he understood where Anakin was coming from, had already established a rapport with him, and didn't always follow the Jedi teachings, so he would have been able to give Anakin the emotional support he needed. Obi Wan did his best, and it's not a fault to him. It's just he was not the one Anakin needed. He was young and inexperienced and more importantly he was very traditional in following the Jedi teachings. There's actually a wonderful comic that sums up their relationship. The long and short of it is Anakin 2 years into his training is frustrated with being part of the Jedi for the reasons I described and wants to go on missions with Obi Wan. He effectively says to Obi Wan who is about to go on another mission without him "Go on then! I know you don't want me around. But it's not my fault that you got stuck with me when Qui Gon died." The comic happens, they have their adventure and Obi Wan sits Anakin down and tells him "I never felt that I got stuck with you. Rather, I always felt that you were the one who got stuck with me." That's the foundation of their relationship
1:02:36 No there are not clones on both sides. All of the clones were made for the Republic against the Separatists. the war is just called "The Clone Wars". Awesome reaction btw.
Anakin is 19 and Padmé is 24, that is only a 5 Years age gap. The age gap between Han Solo and Leia was 10 years. Anakin does not like sand because it is the thing that Reminds him about Tatooine and being a Slave
I was so happy to hop online and see you've made another wonderful Star Wars reaction! I highly recommend watching the Attack of the Clones deleted scenes in which Padmé was afforded a great deal of character development. She addresses the senate after the first assassination attempt and passionately sways the senators against the creation of a clone army. The scenes with her family are fantastic and I remember George Lucas stating he regretted cutting those sequences.
"It's all Obi-Wan's fault! He's holding me back!" Kind of true. Obi-Wan knew about the dreams, how Ani worried about his mother but chose to tell Ani to ignore it instead of learning how to handle his emotions. Fear is a path to the Dark Side. Acting on that fear (going the Tatooine to check on her) could lead to the Dark Side. Arguably, saving people from needless suffering is what the Jedi should do, yet they are often depicted to just sit around, doing nothing. That would be awfully frustrating for Anakin. Yoda uses his cane most of the time because he doesn't "abuse" using the Force to enhance his physical self constantly. "Begun, the Clone War has." It was only a name-drop for what the war is called. The Republic is using clones to fight the Separatists droids. The Clone Wars is also an animated series taking place between Episode 2 and 3. It's a huge part of Star Wars and great for content and views after you've seen Episode 3, if you are okay with watching "a children's cartoon" (it's pretty dark and mature, despite the animated style). For fans, there's a huge difference between Clone Troopers and Stormtroopers. It's not explained at all in the movies alone. Your confusion is understandable. You'll need to watch other media to learn the difference.
*Palpatine had been a father figure for years to Anakin at this point. *It's called the Clone Wars just because the clones are the Army of the Republic and are, therefore, involved in the war against the separatists. *And yes, te force is unbalanced in favor of the jedi.
The force is in balance because of the Jedi. Its not a ying and yang concept, its a purity concept. For example, if you stir a mixture for a cake and its one general texture, its balanced. Throwing in another egg will "unbalance" it.
I don't think she will understand that reference. This isn't an insult, but I have found that most people from her generation don't watch many movies that were made before they were born

1:00:04 Just like the moment with Darth Maul, just imagine all of us seeing Yoda revealing his lightsaber and going into his fight with Count Dooku in the movie theater. Our minds were blown. Great reaction, Quokka, and May the Fourth be with you!
Hands, arms and legs are pretty easy to conceal for a low budget in special effects, it's been done on stage for centuries. The scene between Anakin and Padmé outside upon their arrival on Naboo has been indeed fllmed on the Plaza de Espana in Sevilla. The Palace interior, as for Phantom Menace on the other hand was filmed in Caserta Palace, near Naples, a palace once occupied by French Marshal Murat during the Napoleonic Era, since he was "King of Naples." The Empire replaced expansive Clone Troopers by cheap conscripts that are less efficient overall. In fact the term "Grande Army" is directly taken from Napoleon's Grande Armée. Dooky used reverse psychology, telling Obi-Wan the truth so he wouldn't believe him. Dooku's lightning is blue, not purple, meaning it's less powerful than the Emperor's.
The clones were not stormtroopers. Stormtroopers were just volunteers of the empire that became soldiers, but they are not enhanced in any way. Clone troopers on the other hand were enhanced phisically and mentally to follow orders and endure war, making them stronger and more intelligent than droids. Yet I understand the confussion because they look very similar at first glance, but if you look closer there are many differences between their uniforms. Glad you enjoyed the movie! great reaction btw!
What you are feeling and thinking about this prequel trilogy so far is normal. I said it before, you are smart and figuring things out for yourself just fine. Great reactions! I am looking forward to seeing your next video! 🖖😎👍💕
The notoriously most maligned of the George Lucas six part saga. So much great world building and nuance and ironically my introduction to the saga in theaters. Dooku asks Kenobi to join him much like Vader did to Luke in the second act and Palpatine gages Yoda’s power by asking him if it will come to war among the first few opening scenes. There’s a litany of details within specific scenes here that is more than the entire sequel trilogy.
@@ethanwinnegrad3402 I agree, there's a lot to like about this one. The Jango fight, the arena where all the Jedi storm into battle at once, the asteroid chase, seeing Yoda fight for the first time...
Fun Fact: At the time, Obi-Wan’s stunt double was Nash Edgerton, brother of Joel Edgerton, who played a young Owen Lars (Luke’s future uncle). Nash was dating Rose Bryne, who played Padme’s handmsaiden Dorme’.
this movie also has an example of what i think is a very interesting character trait for anakin. he does something bad then completely over corrects into super boy scout mode after he does it.
A few "fun" thoughts about Anakin here. Remember, he was "too old" to begin training - largely because he had grown up with great attachment to his mother (which is normal for non-jedi). Young Anakin said he had a dream that he returned to Tatooine and freed all of the slaves. He has been plagued by these dreams/visions of his mother, suffering, for a while now - so, I think that is why he is really out of sorts by the time they are on Naboo. Add, on top of that, the Jedi Order mandates he not have these emotional attachments and that he should not rush to save his mother. I mean, he's already intense and problematic, I'm sure, but we're seeing him under the most pressure in this movie. Anyway, just my nerdy fan thoughts about his mental and emotional state, leading into this movie. 😆 Great watching this with ya!
Hayden got a lot of flak for how he portrayed Anakin like a whiny teenager. Yet, he did it to be similar to Luke in episode 4 - whiny and upset that things aren't fair. When you consider that it's actually brilliant acting.
The toy commercials gave the part away. Darth Tyranus is Dooku’s Sith Name. That fact was only mentioned at the very end of the movie in a blink and you will miss it sorta way. Obi-Wan Anakin don’t even figure it out until about a month before the clone wars even ends.
12:28 "Did they just get electrocuted?" Apparently not because if they did, they'd be dead or seriously injured. That's what "electrocuted" means. Obi-Wan and Anakin were merely shocked, not electrocuted.
The Clone wars is an Animated series that fills in the 3 and a half to 4 year gap between Episode 2 and Episode 3 in the war The Clones fight for the Republic against the Droid Army of the Separatist movement and Anakin Matures a lot while fighting in the war
Let's untangle this web of intrigue. 10 years ago, Dooku left the jedi and joined the dark side, secretly becoming Darth Tyrannus. Right before leaving, Dooku manipulated Syfo Dyas to order the creation of the clone army, and then he killed him. In his guise as Tyrannus Dooku hired Jango Fettt. At the same time, in his public persona as Dooku, he uses his considerable influence to begin the secessionist movement, and they create their Droid army. Dooku's Sith master is Darth Sidious (the pre-emperor) who is also the Chancellor. They are engineering the Clone War, secretly behind both sides. Sidious is using the dark side to cloud the perception of the jedi so they can stay hidden and their machinations stay undiscovered until it's too late.
@jeffreymcmahon3627 that's the brilliance behind Dooku. He's both lying and telling the truth. He's lying about his intentions but telling the truth about the Sith controlling the senate.
@passionsquietrage definitely a dark side ability. And I know there's a couple novels about that time that reveal more about Syfo Dyas. I think one was specifically about a younger Dooku and his friend Syfo Dyas.
55:39 You are spot on! 👌 The first episode we were dealing with tax disputes with the Republic. This episode they want to break away from the Republic and core planets of the system and their corrupt system. (Probably because the taxes places on trade routes and other legislations from the Senate benefit the inner planets.) At the same time the Separatist movement is motivated by the greed of the factions like the Trade Federation and the Banking Clan. But the you are asking "who's the bad guy?". There's corruption on both sides and the Sith are playing both sides of this war. The Jedi are clueless fighting for "peace" for one side but they neglect to fight corruption which is festering within the Republic.
The cgi in this film was groundbreaking for the time it came out, and a lot of us were willing to overlook imperfections, much like when we knew Yoda was a puppet, but we just accepted it. Looking back now, i still think practical effects with puppets and prosthetic makeup is superior for two reasona: the so-called uncanny valley and the fact that cgi characters dont have the "weight" of practical characters as well as the fake textures that somehow just arent quite right. They try so hard for realism that our minds reject it rather than working artistically with limitations.
You are right to think Count Dooku looks like Actor Charles Dance. The Actor Christopher lee was Ian Fleming's Cousin. (the author of the James Bond Books/the real james bond) and Charles Dance played Ian Fleming in a Biographic movie in the late 80's or early 90's. James Bond was Fleming's fantasy version of himself and initially he wanted his cousin to play as Bond in the movies since they already looked alike, and also cast him as Dr. No. This didn't work out but years later Christopher lee played a kind of dark mirror version of bond as the titular character in "The Man with The Golden Gun." Incidentally because of this resemblance Charles Dance was also considered to play as bond.
You have to be careful online with many people who watch these videos. Many people don't understand the context in which we watch movies from different eras. From the perspective of VFX and SFX these movies are the beginning of a change in filming styles. You mix real live character and VFX characters because of many filming reasons but the biggest reason during this time was that it was a new technology that you could do so much with. The prequel trilogy was the beginning of the end of SFX as a main way to film and the start of the rapid technology growth of VFX. Most of the prequel movies were still paintings and makeup and camera tricks but because of the work of Industral Light & Magic (Lucas' SFX and VFX company) and many of the people who left and created their own companies, movies post 2000 had the options of using more and more VFX. Now over 20 years later we have completely computer generated worlds and whole scenes and actors that do not have to have prosthetics or makeup because it can be done in post with VFX. VFX is also very costly but can be cost saving because you don't have to pay actors as extras and makeup people. The drawback is a movie like Avatar or a TV series like Fallout or any of the Marvel or Star Wars can cost in the millions per minute of VFX. Wait until you get to The Mandalorian or Obi Wan or Ashoka where much of the filming is done in The Volume which is a new technology that has ended the need to shoot on location or with elaborate paintings. Technology has really changed filming. To be honest there are TV shows like Peaky Blinders you may think have no VFX but if you know the behind the scenes production you would be surprised what is done in VFX now.
8:28 There is an underline reference to a religion/belief of sorts. George took a lot of inspiration from the practice of Buddhism, where a monk is supposed to remain celibate and focus ridding himself/herself from desires.
Yoda (and the rest of the Jedi council and most Jedi): "A slave army you say? Yes, slaves we will control, slaves we will lead. Of the light side of the force is slavery." Yoda (and the rest of the council and most Jedi): "Want to leave these separatist do, legitimate reasons they have, peaceful this all can be. But nah, TO WAR we will go. The senate our masters are, not the force. This movie isn't hard to follow, and yet the amount of confusion you had from start to finish is quite something.
57:45 no” this guy count Dooku a.k.a Darth Tyranus is the emperor’s second apprentice who replaced Darth Maul who Ben Kenobi cut in half at the end of episode I
26:40 Those are not stormtroopers. Those are clone troopers, so all of them are genetic copies of Jango Fett. They were born and trained to fight for the Republic. The stormtroopers, on the other hand, were just real-life humans who were conscripted or volunteered to become soldiers to fight for the Empire.
I'm not sure I agree. The Neomodians cackling when Padme is scratched by the monster cat isn't my definition of "good" The Separatists are mainly made of greedy rich businessmen who want to go about their business without laws
Choosing padme over his jedi vows was the probably the first real choice that Anakin made for himself, without the approval of an authority figure(his mother, watto, obiwan, the council, etc). To him, she represnted freedom and the ability to choose his own path.
Exactly, Obi Wan should’ve allowed Anakin to be himself and not trying to force Anakin into a Jedi mold that the council wanted, a mold that would never suit Anakin. He should’ve given Anakin more freedom to learn about the force without the constraints of the Jedi code.
@@-Devy- I wholeheartedly disagree, he definitely should have been trained and it should've been by Qui-Gon since he was also known to butt heads with the council on their strict rules but he also knew when to rein in his emotions. The path that Anakin would've truly loved would have been becoming a Grey Jedi. Sadly that path was sealed when Qui-Gon died, but not training Anakin could've have turned out just as badly. You truly think a being with 20,000 Midi-chlorians, the most in any life form ever, wouldn't eventually tap into that power instinctually?
Obi-Wan is actually a skilled pilot. He can dislike it and still be very good at it. Obi-Wan gained his level of skill in many things through much practice and training rather than straight natural gift. It's probably one of the reasons he's so highly regarded amongst the Jedi. If we consider the book Master and Apprentice there was a nerve wracking incident that made him not like flying. I can't recall at the moment if that book is canon or not though - it's hard to keep track what is. But if you watch him fly verses listening to his words you see he's a strong pilot - not the best in the galaxy but he holds his own.
Your closing thoughts were great. 😂 I totally relate to the ADHD scattered stress brain btw, so no worries. This movie IS intense. And pulls a lot of misdirections as well. About the confusion, I think it's great. What a treat for things to be revealed in the next movie. The thing about us oldtime fans is, we watched the original movies a gazillion times before the prequels came out, right? And, honestly, I watched The Phantom Menace that many times before Attack of the Clones came out. And so on, until the next one was released. But I know I, and my friends, picked up on Palpatine within the Phantom Menace. But we knew the actor so well from seeing RotJ so many times and such. Also, yeah, Dooku was being tricksy and playing/lying to the different sides, until we saw who his master truly was at the end. A very convincing performance he gave Obi-Wan though. And you have to wonder how much of that was real, even if he wouldn't have really gone through with "destroying the Sith".
you really are underselling your understanding of what's going on. you are very close to 100% accurate. one thing electricity is something almost any dark sider can do anakin was an exception mostly because of all the electronics in his suit.
The confusing parts of the movie that matter: Dooku had the clones made, but now they fight for the Republic, with the Jedi. Dooku is the leader of the Separatists, and working with Darth Sidious. The clones are based off of Jango Fett (the guy with Mandalorian armor), including his “son” Boba Fett. The Chancellor was voted the head of the Republic.
These are clone troopers actually cuz they are in one DNA know as Jango Fett, they stopped using Clone troopers after the order 66 during the end of the movie Revenge of the Sith. Stormtroopers are like people who are volunteers or people that been kidnapped as kids from the empire
Anakin is facing the " Hero's Dilemma. " His attachments to other people can be used to manipulate him or extract revenge. That's why the old traditional superheroes had secret identities. Also, it's why real-life elite anti-terrorists' units hide their identities.
It's pretty clear Anakin has been in love with her since the day she walked into Wattos shop with Qui--gon, artoo, and Jar jar. He states early in that he has both dreamt and thought about her often since he was 9! Jedi are essentially Warrior Monks . He has no experience with how to talk to women He is interested in romantically
It's interesting that you picked up on his instability fairly early on. I would imagine someone with his potential in the force and his connection to the force being stronger than even Master Yoda's being driven completely mad by the emotions of everyone around him and the fact that he's still young. He was a slave boy and his mother is in imminent danger and he's being raised to like forget the attachments that he's making really young. It really messes with a child's psychology.
There's the Republic, led by the Grand Chancelor, backed by the Jedi. The Republic now has a clone army at their disposal. On the other side, you have the SEPARATISTS, who have the droid army, led by Count Dooku, who himself is in leagues with Darth Sidious.
Anakin went where the Council ordered, did what they wanted, killed for them, risked death, was kept isolated from his peers/any outside influence, was allowed only a bare basics education in using the Force, and they expected him to remain absolutely calm at all times with no attachments, possesions, or personal savings allowed so he served them and their goals under the expectation he would speak only when spoken to, go to locations only with their permission using either their money or their ships, bow before them in submission, was punished for defending himself physically or verbally from any Jedi peers, and he did this without pay/compensation/vacation while being disrespected, held to the highest standards, and with the leaders of the Order admitting plainly to him that they don't like, approve of, or trust him. Its implied by Obi-Wan's "Remember you've made a commitment to the Jedi Order, a commitment NOT easily broken" that Anakin would not be allowed to resign or leave the Jedi except by expulsion on his way to their secret prison. They told him "the Jedi are your family, we are a brotherhood that support and help one another" yet treated him like excrement on their boot, allowed bullying against him, and expected him to do whatever, whenever without thanks; ignoring he was the only one with an outside perspective and actually had a family so he saw their b.s. immediately. They broke their own rules blatantly in front of him yet punished him whenever he wavered even slightly. Honestly, Obi and him only stayed because of Qui-Gon's wishes/Obi not knowing any other kind of life. Oh, and they did treated him this way knowing he had been a slave while claiming they championed freedom/anti-slavery ideals but insisted he call everyone of them "Master", refused to allow him to free slaves or challenge the Hutts, and controlled every single aspect of his life, telling him how fortunate he was that he was allowed to be among them, that he should not have been trained, and that he is the Chosen One meanwhile also explicitly ordering him to sit back, do nothing, and wait while they tried to achieve the objective they percieved as the reason he had been born for. It was the equivalent of the Catholic Church disrespecting Jesus, instructing Him to only call them master, teach Him only the basics needed to scrub their floors, allow no time to socialize outside of a Church, then constantly preach about how wise and virtuous the Chruch is, how holy and transcendent they are; all the while patting themselves for abolishing slavery while casually accepting missions from politicians with collared SLAVE GIRLS in his place of office after watching him laughing and hugging the Hutt you saw slithering pass you in the waiting room, then getting mad and disrespect Jesus because he pointed out their hypocrisies and tried to convince them to actually do something that no one could argue would be a truly good and noble deed that would make the galaxy a better place at the same time as securing the wealth of the notoriously evil dynasties, their lands, and industrial empires to the benefit the Church while literally freeing up a third of Creation for future entitlements, homesteads, and pioneers. Oh, and He marries Mary Magdeline but still can't leave because the Church and some genuinely good people NEED him to lead armies and go to war so the Church and the governments don't have to endure the consequences of their actions whilst He STILL has to accept and obey orders that He knows are bad ideas/dangerous to the war effort; critical of His performances and distrustful of Him and the people whom are actually out there fighting- again without pay or any benefit to their lives beyond food and board. I am not exaggerating in pointing out that is the Star Wars equivalent of what Anakin's story is.
Jedi aren't allowed to form romantic attachments because the fear of losing that person could tempt to the dark side. It's never mentioned in the movies but the director has said in interviews that Jedi aren't strictly forced to be celibate but most do just because of how difficult it is to have a physical relationship and not form some type of attachment. There's one Jedi on the council (the guy with the cone shaped head) who has multiple wives and children as a special exception because his species is declining so he was allowed to procreate to help keep his species alive, on the condition that he stayed out of their lives as much as possible to avoid getting too attached.
The problem is that without any feelings of attachment the Jedi became far too dogmatic, rigid, and far too detached from the people of the galaxy whom they were supposed to be serving. Also the more detached they became the less compassionate they became.
To be fair, Obi shows his lacks when he tries too dress Ani down in front of Padme (their client). It is showing that Obi was not ready to be a master and MOST DEFINATLY a master for the chosen one. I don't blame Obi alone for the fall, but he is a part of it.
It seems you got it mostly figured out by the editing. Keep in mind that all these dots have to get connected by the end of the next movie, so the clock was ticking on Lucas to get all the players in position plot-wise. Throughout the prequels, things are to my mind a little force-fitted (pun unavoidable) to do so. The chancellor/emperor/fingers-pointing-at-the-sith dynamic gets clarified soon because it has to. Maybe you have figured it out completely, but in case you haven't I'll shut up here. One thing to note, stormtroopers are not clones, they stopped that practice between Episode III and IV and just recruited regular people.
How could you even think that a good man like chancellor Palpatine could be the Emperor, let alone a Sith lord?! The sheer notion...

And one can see the retroactive relation - the Clone Troopers are the precursor to Stormtroopers, so they look like stormtroopers because stormtrooper armour is _based on clone armour_ .
The Clonetrooper is an early prototype of the future Imperial soldier. Hell even the entire Clone War era Republic was a proto-Empire.
The stormtroopers are not clones. The Clone troopers are storms
@@psymonanteros191 true
I feel like that explains a little more about his arrogance and frustration in his late teens
also the movies kinda gloss over the fact that the order was a powerful cult that brainwashed their members and forced them to abandon personhood pretty much
It's always nice when you can explain why a shitty movie is shit with additional material made after the fact.

I think when Yoda intends "hate leads to suffering" it isn't by the one with the hate, but those who are victimized by said hate.
@@neil2444 Both imo.
Yes, Quokka, you got the order correct. Yoda trained Dooku, Dooku trained Qui-Gon Jinn, Qui-Gon trained Obi-Wan, and Obi-Wan trained Anakin.
Stormtroopers are not clones, they can only wish they were. Clones were designed and bred for combat, they were the most effective soldiers the galaxy had ever seen, stormtroopers are just people who volunteered for military service.
Most stormtroopers did not volunteer. They were drafted...
Biggest difference is Clones can hit... Stormtrooper's don't at least in live action...
@@thejamppa See these blast points? Only imperial Stormtroopers are so precise.
"oh no! he's behind everything!" ~ the understatement of the galaxy. LOL
Jedi's are not to form attachments. Anakin was too old to train 'cause he'd formed an attachment to his mother,..
Did you notice that Darth Sidious called Dooku Darth Tyranus at the end? Which means two things: he is a Sith Lord and the new apprentice after Darth Maul and he was the one who recruited Jango Fett to create the Clone Army. Just a little hint. 🙃😉
'This has got to be filmed in Italy.'
It was! That scene overlooking the lake was filmed on Lake Como.
"Are they getting married?! Noooo! But its forbidden!"
- the Jedi Council
Anakin was a special case for the Jedi. The Jedi forbid attachment because they worry that such feelings could lead to the dark side. Their solution at this point in time is to induct children as toddlers before they can form attachments to their families and then raise them in an environment where they're basically told to meditate their problems away. Jedi aren't really taught to deal with their emotions, they're mostly taught to ignore them (the Jedi were not perfect at this point in time, and not just because of this philosophy)
Anakin had already experienced attachment and because he was naturally attuned to the Force, he was leagues ahead of a lot of other Jedi children his age and yet he was behind in a lot of educational things that they knew due to being a slave.
Among the club patrons are Anthony Daniels, who plays 3PO and Ahmed Best, who played Jar Jar Binks.
You missed a big clue whats going on. Dooku as Tyrannus hired Jango to be the clone template.
He's holding me back!"
Kind of true.
Bad Batch would be a great source for this changeover, as it actually happens in the show.
7:37 -_- did you forget that this takes place before the original trilogy?
*Palpatine had been a father figure for years to Anakin at this point.
*It's called the Clone Wars just because the clones are the Army of the Republic and are, therefore, involved in the war against the separatists.
*And yes, te force is unbalanced in favor of the jedi.
The force is in balance because of the Jedi. Its not a ying and yang concept, its a purity concept. For example, if you stir a mixture for a cake and its one general texture, its balanced. Throwing in another egg will "unbalance" it.

Hands, arms and legs are pretty easy to conceal for a low budget in special effects, it's been done on stage for centuries.
The scene between Anakin and Padmé outside upon their arrival on Naboo has been indeed fllmed on the Plaza de Espana in Sevilla. The Palace interior, as for Phantom Menace on the other hand was filmed in Caserta Palace, near Naples, a palace once occupied by French Marshal Murat during the Napoleonic Era, since he was "King of Naples."
The Empire replaced expansive Clone Troopers by cheap conscripts that are less efficient overall.

Star Wars episode 3 revenge of the sith is more insane movie I ready see so many times you have to see this movie
Unfarily maligned. Imo, this is one of the best movies
Good catch on the Spanish palace. They also filmed some Naboo scenes in Italy near Lake Como.
Clone Troopers and Stormtroopers are too different armies-Clone Troopers served The Galactic Republic, Stormtroopers serve The Empire.
They don't bleed out from wounds because the lightsaber is got enough to instantly cauterize the wounds.
this movie also has an example of what i think is a very interesting character trait for anakin. he does something bad then completely over corrects into super boy scout mode after he does it.
Plus Anakin had been secretly being groomed by Palpatine for years at this point too just not shown
Hayden got a lot of flak for how he portrayed Anakin like a whiny teenager.

12:28 "Did they just get electrocuted?"
Apparently not because if they did, they'd be dead or seriously injured.
The emperor is actually a Torpedo ray posing as a human. No dark side of the Force required.
Or, you know, Dooku could've been lying🙄
@jeffreymcmahon3627 that's the brilliance behind Dooku. He's both lying and telling the truth. He's lying about his intentions but telling the truth about the Sith controlling the senate.
Is that perception clouding thing strictly a dark side ability or can the Jedi do it too? And is there more lore/stories on Syfo Dyas?
@passionsquietrage definitely a dark side ability. And I know there's a couple novels about that time that reveal more about Syfo Dyas. I think one was specifically about a younger Dooku and his friend Syfo Dyas.
@@josephparker4022 Ok so Anakin could never have done it before his downfall, good to know. And I'll have see if I can find those novels.
The movie is shrouded in mystery. That was the whole point of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
You definitely have to watch episode 3, I can only tell you that it will be quite a ride.
"This is confusing.." How!? How is any of this even remotely confusing LMAO!

@@jmwilliamsart No, Anakin shouldn't have been trained to begin with.
Honestly screw what Disney says what is and is not cannon. Lucas signed off on it so it's cannon.

The confusing parts of the movie that matter:
Dooku had the clones made, but now they fight for the Republic, with the Jedi.
40:45 Padme was already in love with Anakin; and here instead of feeling terrified of what he did, he looked for a way to justify it.
"It is easier to excuse misdeeds perpetrated by the ones we love." -Kristin Baver, Skywalker: A Family at War
Stormtroopers and clones are different
Well, the next movie will put all the pieces in place. :)
Anakin is facing the " Hero's Dilemma. " His attachments to other people can be used to manipulate him or extract revenge. That's why the old traditional superheroes had secret identities. Also, it's why real-life elite anti-terrorists' units hide their identities.

The Decoy didn’t fail Senator Amedala. She did exactly what she was tasked with doing. Faking out the Senator’s foes and deflecting danger.
25:17 actually, this Naboo was filmed in Italy. 25:20 😂 25:43 anyway, it’s forbidden to be in love 🥰 with someone else as a Jedi knight.
@jmwilliamsart oh, agreed 100%. Was just explaining what they were like, but yes agreed they needed to be less dogmatic and rigid.
OMG, I was 51 years old when I realised that Jango was recruited by Count Dooku ( Lord Tyranus ).., just now... lol
Always neat to pick up on new aspects in old films that you'd missed before 😉
There is no Emperor at this point, so the Clones are Troops bred for an Army of the Republic, just as they said.
To be fair, Obi shows his lacks when he tries too dress Ani down in front of Padme (their client). It is showing that Obi was not ready to be a master and MOST DEFINATLY a master for the chosen one. I don't blame Obi alone for the fall, but he is a part of it.
39:35: That’s the garage where Luke finds Leia’s message.
The studios they shot this in was in AUSTRALIA. 🇦🇺
Regarding your last question, I have been reflecting on this film for 20 years and still find key aspects of the story to be baffling.
this is around 20 years before a new hope. the clone troopers are phased out with stormtroopers which are not clones.
The Emperor from the original trilogy is a Sith Lord
I love that you recognised the Seperatists as the true good guys of StarWars XD
They didnt do everything right but had the spirit!
