I have been having issues with my Bernette 440 breaking top thread and giving all kinds of problems. I tore down the bottom end and there were decades of old thread jammed up behind it. I cleaned it all out but couldn't figure out the timing for the life of me. Your video gave me the info I needed and I've got the machine running better than it has since I got it! Thank you!
I picked up a Model 66 Red Eye and have been trying to get the bobbin carrier hook to catch the needle thread each time but after the initial grab, it would make needle loops but no bobbin thread would be on the underside , and it was kicking my butt... I adjusted the timing, changed the needles, tried EVERYTHING I KNOW OF....then watched this! My needle looked like it was properly set up, but then I looked closer and realized it was riding HIGH.....so as you pointed out in this video, I dropped the needle bar down a few mm and BOOM.....sews perfectly now! I'm so glad you covered that....I wanted to find a home for this machine and make a little $$ but i NEVER sell a machine unless its 100%... Wish I could buy you a beer! Thank you again.
First, use a new, undamaged needle before setting the hook position. Second, in this type of full-rotary hook, the hook timing will be set at 2.0mm, 2.2mm or 2.5mm needle rise, depending on the brand and maximum stitch width. Adjust with the needle in the center needle position (center of needle plate). Third, the distance between the hook point and the needle should be about .1mm; very close, but not touching. (1 to 2 mm is WAAAY too far) Fourth, the groove in the needle is called the scarf, not scarp. Fifth, when setting the needle bar height, first set the hook timing then turn until the hook point is directly behind the center of the needle and adjust the needle bar height so that the hook point is approximately 1.0 mm above the eye of the needle.
Hello, I watched your videos on how sewing machines work. Thank you for these excellent videos and the clarity of your explanations on your website. They allowed me to settle mine, this grandmother (an old Brother) has found a new youth! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
i am working on my Riccar 9600 and the timing is off. When it is set correctly the needle rubs on the bobbin case at one point I cannot get the needle bar to budge. When I loosened and removed that tiny screw and tried to put it up it seems to be on a spring. I am using a Schmetz 12 needle. I really hope you can help me.
How come that hook was not going around when the needle went up and down? How is the hook adjusted for a Bernette 50 Machine? I see how it is done on a Bernina by loosening the screw on the cross shaft but I cannot get at the cross shaft on the Bernette because the top cover does not come off like a Bernina.
The hook does not rotate because its fastening screws are loose. I don't know how it's done on your sewing machine. But the principle is the same everywhere. Carefully study the access to the adjusting screws. Perhaps for this you need to disassemble the entire body of the sewing machine. I don't recommend doing this! There is a matster for repairing sewing machines, in case of emergency.
@@sewway I have been trying to take off the plastic covers and cannot find what is still holding them together. I have all the screws out that I can see. I'm coming to the conclusion that this Bernetta does not adjust like a Bernina where they have a removable access plate on top of the shaft where you make the adjustment. I think it is in that set screw on the needle shaft it self. I'm gong to a sewing shop today to see if I can confirm that. If that is it, I can easily do it and will put out a You Tube video on it.
My repairman made the video on how to disassemble the machine, maybe it will help you: ruclips.net/video/4tTnfVt2RHI/видео.html Be careful and attentive if you decide to disassemble.
@@sewway Thanks, I got it apart like that but I was not sure what to adjust to get the hook timing right. It is sure not like the inside of a Bernina..so I took it to a repair shop.................Cheers, Jim
Robot voice is super annoying. Use a human voice. 2:23 - SCARF, not SCARP. Needles have a SCARF or scooped out section just above the eye but BEHIND ON BACK OF NEEDLE. Front groove is called a GROOVE. No such thing as a SCARP. Clean off that gunk from your machine, it is gross. This is old oil and grease. Clean and relube. Don't use wrong size screwdrivers on screw heads, you will strip them. You explained nothing. Very bad video. Learn before you teach.
I am surprised at the condition of your machine. Not cool old grease, food chunks, lint...- take 2 minutes, and wipe clean. take 30 minutes dismantle remove old grease and reapply

How about showing the end result of what it should be when all is done?

Kindly, the alignment (bobbin hook position) for this NQ3600D please.🙋♂️

We don't have to be able to do everything yourself
Well this gets me nowhere. Whish they'd show what was correct and final set up.

No, it's not your problem, it's the sewing machine repairman's problem.

Peut-être parce que mon singer 20 u53 est plus complexe?
