Most valuable RUclips video I've ever watched! I spent all morning with an exact twin to your machine -- our paint is even worn the same way -- just to fix the problem of skipping one out of every fifty stitches, ended up with a mess. Tomorrow will be a better day, thanks to you!
This is an excellent video explaining needle-hook timing. This is exactly how Juki (and Chinese clones) leather sewing machines work, too. Beginners must make sure to install the needle scarf facing the bobbin or the needle will collide with the hook every single time. Great video!!
Thank you for this video. I was able to time my 1245 perfectly. Mine is a little older model so there were some differences, but it is running smooth and quiet!
Hello, can you make a video for the Pfaff 1245, how to adjust the needle (left, right and front, back). Because mine is a little to the left and slightly forward.
I have a Necchi 958-101 walking foot machine. I have a problem while sewing and that applies to stitches. The stitches are uneven. By no means can't adjust the thread tension because when I sew slowly, it is somewhat fine or more pulls the upper thread and when I sew quickly, then the upper thread pulls the lower one and can be seen on the stitches. I used your videos as a reference to set the timing but again it's not the same machine, so I would ask you if you can tell me what the problem is. I would be very grateful.

I can get my 1245 stitching fine forward, but when back stitching, I'm bending or breaking needles eventually...especially when moving fast for long runs. The bend is at the scarf and towards the bobbin holder. Do I just have the needle too close to the bobbin case when I start the adjustment...or perhaps too much top tension causing the needle to bend? Any tips for solving my problem? Thanks again!
I cannot figure it out yet. My only advice would be to set it in reverse and by hand move the hand wheel to search what is rubbing and causing the issue.
Thank you @Cechaflo for the video, this explains really clearly how the machine works. I have a slightly more recent model (all white and more square) Pfaff 1245, adjusted it according to the manual and following the same steps in your video. I sew nylon webbing and fabric, with varying thickness, and it seems the machine is not able to make strong stitches with lighter materials. The stitches are weak and don't always fully complete due to the lack of tension. Sewing very thick stuff seems to be alright with decent tension and stitches. Is there a way to adjust it for lighter fabrics? Already went through the timing procedure multiple times, tried many tension combinations and running out of ideas on what to try. I have another walking foot which has no problem with the same thread needle fabric combination.
Perhaps you shold adjust the time a very little faster to catch the upper thread loop faster. It helps to alleviate the upper tension. You would not need to tighten it too much. Some plastics while sewing the holes get closed causing disadjustment. The solution is a bigger needle to make a wider hole in the plastic material. For lighter fabrics the first step is the use of a thin needle and thread. It could be a 90=14/ 100=16 and 110=18 needle size with a thin thread 69 or 46 size.
The shuttle mechanism is adjustable. Perhaps it is necessary to move the whole set a little bit to the right side.ruclips.net/video/lGhoOsr91rk/видео.htmlsi=9xFkSLXbJdxxn7Ne&t=704 The needle should pass/touch the rotary hook mechanism wall. ruclips.net/video/lGhoOsr91rk/видео.htmlsi=xX85bTHRl5gRva8G&t=1073

I have the exact machine pfaff 1245 and it skips a stitch here and there is it the needle? Because every needle i install is the same.is it the timing? Please help me
Before doing anything, check if the needle is the correct one. I have read that the system for a 1245 is 135-17 (the needle is 44 mm long approx. from the butt to the point) The needle bar goes downwards to a dead point. It should go upwards then. The upwards movement of the needle bar should be at most 3 mm. This is the moment the hook point of the shuttle should be in the middle of the needle scarf...I mean above the needle eye. This little upwards movement causes the upper thread to loosen and forms a loop that is caught by the hook point of the shuttle. Notice that the hook point should pass very close to the needle scarf. If it is a little far away it causes the skipping of stitches. Do not forget thin needles for thin materials.

Hey I am really impressed by stiching so I wanted to know which thread and what size thread do you use.
Upholsterers as a daily basis mostly use the standard polyester thread number 92
