Great video! Had to do this recently on an 8 head TFP machine. Saved my employer money when they didn't have to bring in a technician to do it. I'm always trying to learn as much as I can about the machine to do the repairs and servicing myself. Each time, I become less intimidated and feel more empowered.

It was a good video but you did leave something out. Not everyone will be so lucky when they release the set screws that it's aligned. After the set screws are loosened, yes moving the needle back or forward from the hook can be done. But how do you turn it to get that 3/16 space? Where do you put a screwdriver or what????

At our factory, they immediately make a transverse cotter pin on the axis of the shaft of the shuttle housing, so as not to suffer with the settings ... A little higher or lower is regulated by the shaft in which the needle . The distance from the hole in the needle to the tip of the shuttle should be 1.5 mm., longitudinal distance from the tip of the shuttle to the needle in the recess 0.2-0.3 mm., adjustable according to the needle number 90

I watched this video because i wanted to see how to put the bobbin stuff back in properly. My needle is hitting something. The needle is in properly, and the needle goes down in ok, without material, but when i try to sew, it won't go down, for it is hitting something, so that means that the mechanism is not put in properly. When you put that thing in, it looks so easy, but when i do it, i can't get it to stay in the right place to put that cover thing on, it slips out. Can you help me?

I have a sailrite fabricator and it's parts do not look the same not enough to identify some critical points in the video.
With the bobbin case removed my assembly is one unit. When I ordered the rotary hook all of the parts you describe came assembled as one unit.
    Mine has these parts:
    A) ? Has the set screws. Is this the Driver? It has a flat side and I don't know what direction to line the flat side up or down or sideways.
    B) Can't identify from your parts in the video.
    C) Hook. Rotates inside of A but I don't know which screws release it so it can be removed and A can be set flush. Since I don't know what screws release it I'm afraid to undo screws that other parts might come undone and I'll have more trouble on my hands.
    D) Bobbin case - removes
Can you please copy paste the video URL for how to reset this whole assembly on the Fabricator? Your kind help would be extremely appreciated !!!

My sewing machine bent a #23 needle at a 45 degree angle! I had to replace a few parts, including the needle. I still think it needs a bit more. Last problem, I bought a spool of thread for $6. It said it was polyester, V138 Sunstop ... Hecho en china ... Now I think my machine hates me! How do I fix my machine to like crappy, made in china, thread? I was just trying to save a few bucks!

    • @SailriteDIY
      @SailriteDIY  4 года назад +1

If the thread is poorly made, it is always best to toss it, don't try to adjust the sewing machine if you know the thread is not bonded or total junk. Buy thread only from dependable companies like Sailrite.

Well, I just figuered out why this machine always seems to wander out of timing. Today while working on it in the tilted position, I was working the wheel to align the gib hook and needle. It suddenly jambed. The wheel would only move a few degrees in each direction. While poking around to see why it was jambed I could see a small shaft with a tiny spring on it located at a weird angle, way up in the right hand side of the machine . After fiddling with it for a while it finally popped out. It's a second Posi Pin!!! I never ordered a second one and mine is still in the wheel so WTF sailrite guys!? The knurled handle has several gashes and Knicks on it so I'm pretty sure I found the culprit! It's been up in there the whole time 🤣. Hey Sailrite, hit me up if you want the serial number, maybe you can track down whoever assembled this thing and tell them I said thanks.

@@SailriteDIY I will email you, thanks. I think once I removed the random 2nd Posi Pin from the machines guts, re-timed, reset rotation, replaced gib hook and related parts, it seems to be running fine now. For how long I dont know but hopefully we are all set.
Thanks for reaching out, Ill email you shortly with all events.

@@elconquistador932 If everything is running well, that is good. You may want to change the metal posi pin out for the new Posi-Pin® Safety Shear www.sailrite.com/Posi-Pin-Safety-Shear This is a plastic posi pin that is meant to break if you hit anything hard. In my opinion it can help resolve possibly having to retime you sewing machine. We will evaluate your email, when you send it, and let you know if anything needs addressed. Thanks!!!!

@@SailriteDIY I think you might have misunderstood my first comment. My posi pin is fine. It was always in the correct position, Ive never had an issue with it. It was a second posi pin that was stuck up inside the running gear. I never ordered a second, not sure why it was there so unless it just appeared inside the macine, I think it was a random part that somehow made it through assembly and QC, hung out a while then rattled loose at some point causing the machine to bind/slip. This is the chewed up pin that I removed as explained in my original post/comment.

how close should the driver come to the needle, mine just barely touches the needle but does not deflect it?

Yes, that is perfect left and right timing for the driver. Very close, but not touching.
