Chopping isn't as hard as batoning on a knife. I took my Elmax PM2 with a Krein regrind to 0.005" bte and used it to chop through an inch and a half branch (took about 4-5 minutes with a sub 4 oz folder). I wanted to see how an edge that thin would hold up to rougher tasks and it was still shaving sharp after i was done. Only folding knife i own right now that I'd feel ok batoning with is my Cold Steel Rajah 2. 6 inch 0.200" blade of aus10 and a triad lock give you confidence. And it chops great too (much more weight, great handle with solid ergos and a kukri-esc shape help)
Yeah I agree. I wouldn't recommend any serious batoning with any folding knife. Even this big monster. Maybe with the big Cold Steels with the triad lock... Maybe... But that .005" grind? That's serious business! 👍
@BladesOnABudget it cuts like a dream. I have a custom paring knife in Aeb-l at 63hrc. It's 0.050" stock and has a FFG, slight convex zero grind with just a micro level (0.001-0.002" bte at most I'm guessing. Not something you can measure with regular tools). Even when it's completely dull, it cuts veggies and cardboard better than most sharp knives.
Just got mine (this one with the T-rex skull) from China and cannot possibly imagine how the original can be superior! It's even got a striped, anodized pivot collar!! ;) I don't know if the originals did any skeletonizing in the scales, but this one doesn't. Could probably slim down a couple pounds if it did. I think that it's heavier than my District 9 Catastrophe, and not quite as large.
@@BladesOnABudget Y'know, I somehow feel better knowing that the originals didn't bother to do inside milling either. ;) Last I looked, titanium is about $35./lb., so, what's that, $60. worth of ti in my pocket? lol
It probably doesn't come thru well on video, but that cross feature is deeply raised/embossed. It's way more than just etching. There's a good millimeter or two of depth to it. I don't know how good those lasers are, but it would be a lot of material for a laser to remove. And then to make it this smooth on top of it all... (like it was hand polished or something) I'm sure it could be done. But it can't be cheap? 🤷♂️ Crazy stuff!
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and in this case, any real collector willing to spend the kind of $$$ it takes to get into a genuine one of these will *never* ever even consider buying something like this. But if you're looking to cosplay as Hellboy or MadMax you're ready to go.
@BladesOnABudget , I've not used used temu much and my searches generally yield really poor results. It almost exclusively shows me sub-$40 knives. I found it on Ali, but at $230

So, from what you are saying, this knife is too excellent in all areas, probably surpassing the original in some, and one would have to be out of his mind to pay $3,000. for, essentially, the same thing!!!
It's really good. But I don't really think this version would surpass an original in any way. Maybe "as good as" in some ways. But this is a little different because each of the real knives is truly one-of-a-kind and unique from any other knife. It's like getting a unique piece of art from the artist himself. If it was a Spyderco or Benchmade, then yeah, the replica makes a lot more sense.
@@BladesOnABudget For instance, I've seen the difference between good Chinese 'copies' of USA switchblades and, yes, they are superior in many ways. Some are, at least. Or add "high quality" to that search - they all seem to say that. Not sure if I can share a screenshot of my Temu page but trying here - jmp.sh/a1pMsoPD
In Sweden if you are going to be buying this from Aliexpress then it's going to be paying 3517:-sek in dollars it's almost 350-360$ so pretty expensive even for a replica knife 😮
Titanium and crap steel r plentiful and super cheap over in china and I’m sure this is made by one of the oem shop owners as a side hustle just like jufule uses srm to manufacture his knives. U can look at this like a wall hanger katana it looks cool but it want hold up like a real katana would. I can’t even find what steel this is using so u can guarantee it’s garbage. Some fakes r worth buying this isn’t one of them imo. Jufule lemifshe and green thorn r the only 3 I’ll spend my money on.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing. The Chinese do a lot of 10CR15CoMoV, which is their version of VG-10. So I guess that would certainly be possible. And it would make this knife even more shocking! 😂
For people who like the looks and like being able to use their knife as a weapon, as a pry, a shovel or a hammer. If this one wasn't a clone then I would love to have it.
This thing is like a serious piece of custom metal artwork. Definitely only for people with a lot of money who really love custom knives. But they are really cool.
Yeah, if you're only looking at the raw materials and hard costs then definitely not. But if you're a serious collector who wants a one-of-a-kind custom knife that was hand crafted by the original artist himself, then it makes a little more sense.
