American tanks at this area in the tech tree also come with a passive negative effect that slowly drains your silver lions per match if you don't do amazingly well.
Unfortunately, he doesn’t really mention that, for two reasons: number 1, he’s one of the best and can make all the SL he wants with no problems and number 2 he’s a Gaijin employee and can’t really talk about their more… interesting decisions such as high repair costs.
That’s not unique to American tanks; tier IV/V is where the game gets very grindy, especially in SL costs.
@@zanaduz2018 high repair isn’t unique, but America’s is definitely up there with the French. Repair cost Is not evenly distributed throughout tiers 4/5. It’s bad for everyone but definitely much worse for some
@@hugenerd8994 Super Pershing is the worst offender in this regard for the US tree. 18k SL is just outrageous
@@cheesuschrist5017 oh so that’s why he doesn’t say jumbo at 6.3 is silly, it’s cause the snail is borderline ready to digest him, poor man
Kinda surprised you didn't talk about the T34's back plate on the turret, it's very thick and heavy to counterbalance the 120mm gun, and is over 190mm thick, if things get super dicey and a tiger or panther or T-44 is trying to roll up behind you, you can just point the back of the turret at them. It's a super inviting target for the unaware and they will be unable to hurt you, and you can try to swing your gun around after they fire if you aren't disabled. Not reliable but just hilarious
Yea, i can't remember anymore how many times a t44 just drift-flanked me, shot the back of the turret point blank (multiple times), and miserably died. I still laugh at those whenever they come across my mind
Eehhh, usually you just get one shot in lower glacies
This also applies to the Super Pershing and Jumbo to an extent.
Or you can fuck the engine and then the barrel.
You know, that explains a lot. I'll have to keep that in mind lol

I don’t
Too bad Russia is forced to fight bs proto US tanks from 5.7+ -7.7 which are just op and always have been, I love vs T29 in my t44 which can't pen it from the front unless Mg port
Sorry, but that’s simply not true. I am a Russian main, and I can’t remember having trouble penning American tanks at that br range. And the t44 just needs to flank so it can pen the heavies, that’s just the way it is.
T25 got absolutely gutted in the past few years. Used to be 5.7, used to have a short stop stab. Then they added the new Pershing and made its armor irrelevant too. As always though, fantastic video man, keep up the astounding work.
So much stuff around this BR for the US is overtiered. T20, T25, Jumbo 76mm, Super Pershing, maybe the M4A3 76mm. The T20 has a better reverse than the M4A2 76mm and a lower profile and it's 0.7 higher? I don't know what the T25 does better than the Pershing to be at 6.3 since they took it's stab away..
@@michaelbeale559 short space mobility due to its neutral steering and top notch reverse speed. And I guess you could technically argue that it has a smaller silhouette/profile, which might be a plus depending on who's asking. other than that tho? wompwomp :( I'd like to see everything you listed move back down by .3/.4 to more appropriate BRs. I enjoy playing all of em, and you can make em work decently at their current BR placements, but being able to "make them work" isn't a particularly good justification for their increased BR imo.
@@michaelbeale559 IMO the T25 should be at 6.0, since it's alot like a Sherman with a direct upgrade to the gun. It has the useless armour of the Sherman's, the good armour of the Sherman's but with the upgraded gun of the Pershing. If so, the 6.0 set would be slightly better for America, even if it's been ass fucked in the lass few updates.
@@cookiecraze1310 6.0 and with the stabilizer, as it should be
I remember playing M18/T25/76 Jumbo at 6.0 and it was perfect
@@dunamoose3446 i played that set ALOT while I was grinding out the 6.0-6.7 range, atleast until I got sick of the tanks. Didn't revisit it until after the T25 lost its Stab, but still had fun until the Jumbo got moved up.

He works for gayjin now. His opinions are biased AF.
The M42 works well as a “surprise” that hangs out near stronger teammates. When trouble strikes you can pop out and pour in some damage, especially side shots, and of course track and barrel. It wipes away ERBs and the like with ease. I have saved many teammates this way.
I'll have to remember that.
Seems to me like it's a good scout killer.
Not the greatest scout because it's pretty big and slow comparatively, but it's still fast enough to find an enemy scout, get to a good sniping position, and take them out safely.
Like he suggested it's also a great "escort" for late game when there's not too much running around the map and you can save your teammate assuming he takes and survives the first hit

Ayyy, same goes here
Get ready for the pain worst br that I can think of
@@aedenwright1994 They took so much fun away from the US 6.0/6.3 lineups by unnecessarily nerfing the Jumbo and Super Pershing.
@@michaelbeale559 I am researching the M4A3E2 (76) W, but only because it's for progression. It truly is a shame 76 jumbo is 6.3, I recall it once was 6.0 which was still nasty, but more manageable. The buff for jumbo being 5.3 is fair, facing it as a 4.0 can be painful as most countries for example do not have 76 cannons, 88mm cannons etc.
@@ryeo9907 It was perfect at 6.0. It had counters a you could do well with it if you knew how to work it. 6.3 is doable but once you get into 6.7 and above matches it's pointless to bring out. Long 88mm, 122mm, 100mm pretty much anything British just doesn't have to aim. Just point and click at anywhere on the hull and you die. The lower hull armor can be over matched very easily so you can't angle in it either.
People compare the Sherman jumbo at 6.3 to other tanks in the line, which is foolish. Saying it's good at 6.3 is insane to me when you compare it any other tank at the BR. Just because stats aren't everything doesn't mean they aren't relevant - the jumbo dies to everything at any angle. "Prominent weak spots" lmao the entire vehicle is a weak spot. Just because the jumbo can shoot barrels doesn't mean it's serviceable at all, any vehicle in the entire game can do that.
Skill based matchmaking has nothing to do with the vehicle itself...
Edit: I am stupid, I actually meant *statistics based balancing...*
@@lennynull-funf-zehn5416 I'm confused, when did I mention skill based matchmaking?
@@iain-duncan that's the reason it's at 6.3
@@lennynull-funf-zehn5416 right, I see what you mean. I completely disagree with the idea vehicles should be balanced based on their players skill. That is nonsensical. They need to be balanced around their own merits. Balancing them around who plays them creates a recurring issue - the vehicle can only be used by high skill players and sees dwindling play until it's gone. That's also how you get broken monsters like anything in the German line 5.3-6.3
@@iain-duncan the panther A is better in basically every way than the 76 Jumbo, yet it sits at 5.7
I say let Germany suffer, give them fair BRs and eventually they will get good on their own

Personally, I think the jumbo is way over tiered but I admit you had some good points (especially the armor of 7.3). But 49:36, just no. *Some* maps let you get close-quarters with Tiger 2's but even in that scenario the long 88 will rip you to shreds. Don't get me wrong I love playing the jumbo and fighting against the odds (with decent results), but it's objectively not a fair match-up.
I get what he's saying but I think most of its issue is that at 6.3 you are more likely to see tiger 2s than you are anything else. If you're in an uptier, you'll have a lot of Germany players running tiger 2s and it wouldn't be so bad if you had apcr that could pen its turret but you can't. I mean I am usually fine in 6.3 but I see why ppl don't think it should be at 6.3
@@devanmcghee6123 I thought it was fine at 6.0, but putting it at 6.3 gives way for direct comparisons to the T26E5 and Tiger 2 p. Which to put it mildly is ridiculous
@@rhystaylor851 you are correct. I think 6.0 was balanced, at 6.3 you just see way too many king tiger Hs to be comfortable. I do think it's a good tank and definitely usable bc it is somewhat mobile, but a panther can still take you out from the front, it's not like it's armor got any better with the full br increase
@@rhystaylor851 yeah, and when it fights at 6.0, 5.7 and 6.3 its fine, but 6.7 and up are painful due to things like tiger 2 H's, Leopards (regardless of what he said its still the issue of point click on a heavy tank), t-54's, the british heavy tanks, etc. its just not competitive above 6.3, and as such it should fight above 6.7 or 7.0 and 7.0 is pushing it. what do you do against an IS-3 in this thing?
@@devanmcghee6123 youre a "heavy" tank that has absolutly no way to pen the front of an enemy heavy tank from the front. A heavy tank which can pen you literaly anywhere. A heavu tank that is more manuverable then yours.
That shot on the panther with the bulldog going over the hill was INSANE
I would agree with most of your points, except for your argument for the 76mm Jumbo. I get that it’s reactivity gives it an edge over its contemporaries, but considering that it’s armour can be easily dealt with in any location by the enemies at your tier, you can get near identical performance if not better with for example the M4A2 (76) W (which sits at an entire br lower) given the higher top speed. It is certainly an excellent tank which can get a definite advantage over the tanks it faces in certain situations, but it’s currently br is unjustifiable.
I honestly got better results dragging just about any tank up to 6.3 including the 75mm jumbo because if the 76 could pen where i was shooting a 6.3-7.3 tank so could the 75mm
Man I thought this was going to take a lot of time for OXY to make because of the amount of vehicles in this rank.
You are off your rocker with the jumbo 76. You literally can't do anything with the 76 mm as a heavy tank against other heavy tanks at your br. Sure ANY tank can kill those squishy tanks at 7.3 how does that add to your point at all. It faces heatfs and apfsds wich are all on tanks that get to positions before you. And you face heavy tanks that are literally impossible for you to pen. Pros: stabilizer, first shot ability, ok mobility. Cons: bad armor for the br, bad gun, ok mobility
That would have been objective and imo honest. I think your emotional attachment to this tank definitely clouded your judgment. Just my opinion though. I dont mind the 76 jumbo but it is definitely over br'd. what playstyle does it accel at that objectively places it at its br? Genuinely curious, and willing to try.
play it as a light tank except you dont get to scout
@@Baso-sama and you don't get the mobility or pen of other 6.3 LTs or SP cost ....

The 76 Jumbo is one of my favs and given no real 6.0 lineup I take it to 6.3 anyway, however the whole thing of the Jumbo is being a brawler, and the 76 just isn't that anymore.
It still works, just not as intended
Thanks Oxy, for this great video, very inspiring and educational. Thanks also to all your smaller contributions to making War Thunder a better place for us, such as the wiki work, giving feedback about how to make the game better. I am sure there is a lot we aren't even aware of that you have had an influence on, so thanks a lot. I was really happy to add your decal to my collection.
I needed to see and hear these tips because as I am getting into the 6.0 range I feel that I am struggling pretty hard. Though I am not sure it can be helped. I just do not see people. Sometimes it is blatant, sometimes it is because of visual obstruction but it is really frustrating. One can learn where enemies might be sitting, feels like it comes over time, just really frustrating because it encourages passive play and many games I am not making an impact either way. That or maybe I have a decent grip on a map and then I get a 1 or two cap and it is all out the window.
The T-92 is a lot of fun in desert maps, it provides easy cover in the dunes and using the HEAT round you can become a very effective RnG sniper.
'Tom and Jumbo sitting in a tree...'.
Great to have you back doing these. really insightful. Yours are the only WT guides I pin.
Re T25-E5, I think most players like the idea that at least 1 tank in your lineup should excel, as this does at 6.3. If everything is perfectly balanced, it can become less enjoyable as effectively your choice of vehicle becomes somewhat redundant I feel.

I think you completely missed the point with the Jumbo. It is not that It can’t do well at 6.3 the issue is that it is another step WarThunder has taken away from the armour meta towards point and click without thinking.
I do agree with your compassion with the jumbo 76 and the leopard, but what about the German M48? It can fairly easily kill the 76 jumbo with heat while the jumbo can try to aim for the lower glacis and maybe pen it.
The German M48 is also lower BR than the American one even though it's objectively better lmao
The 76 jumbo does deserve compassion indeed.
@@novkorova2774 the 76 jumbo is fine. It plays like the 3.7 shermans. meh gun, and armor that works most of the time. The 75 jumbo is what is overtiered. Its a side grade to the 76 shermans but is a higher br
My problem with the jumbo is how it fails as a heavy tank. When looking at its peers the jumbo is hopelessly outclassed in nearly every way besides getting the first shot off. Yeah the jumbo has good armor but it doesn't mean anything when anything German can just point and click on you. The firepower is good but when you're constantly fighting king tigers it ceases to be impressive. And the mobility that really wasn't great in the first place sucks even more since the 76 is heavier. The jumbo 76 was never something I picked up at 6.0 because it just seemed like a shitty panther with a stabilizer without a lineup. And now there is no way in hell I'm going to play that turd a 6.3 especially after the t26e5 was moved up.
It was fantastic at 6.0 even though it was outclassed, but it certainly didn’t deserve to move up. Unfortunately, the amount of incompetent German mains is rather high and remains so, so Gaijin will keep nerfing US vehicles into the ground until they’re able to win without even thinking about it. Even then, they’ll probably still lose half the time :/
@@cheesuschrist5017 unfortunately most people prefer Germany for various reasons but lamo you sound mad.
@@AksamRafiz that's his point. More people play Germany, so more retards are in Germany, so more German players complain about it, so it gets moved up

I love just havin these videos play in the back ground and learn stuff I didn't know. Great videos man. I love them.
In the jumbo segment I heard "Matchups are made purely on performance" and it kinda drove me up the wall.
It's a pretty incorrect statement.
It's pure *numbers* according to what little was said to us through people like Smin and Stona.
Not *actual performance*.
It's not a secret either, it's blatantly not a secret just like the soft little lie by omission about 10% of top tiers in a match being "in a match" and not "in a team". Wording is important there and it also is important here.
We all know about the recent occurrence of a certain clan statpadding a BR increase on an already considered badly performing jet and we can draw conclusions from that without much hassle.
Can a Jumbo deal with a Leo? Sure. It can. If the Jumbo is piloted by a decently skilled person and the Leo is stupid enough to not outposition the Jumbo to begin with.
And that's where the dog is buried, so to speak. The skill of the player involved is what drives the BR situation, not the raw performance of the vehicle itself.
If there's only a handful of people sweating their asses off making this tank work - it will stay there. If a blatantly undertiered tank is piloted by a horde of pillocks - it will stay there.
To compare tanks on their characteristics in this situation is missing the point and playing into snail's little bullshit charade.
Stop doing that and start focusing on the real crux of the issue.
Many vehicles need a proper, player-driven playtest and a significant BR reassessment, the two mentioned in that segment being probably the biggest example only surpassed by Panther vs. Pershing comparison.
He works for gayjin now
He wont bring up anything bad and will defend them. And the omly fair way to compare a vehicle is to have 2 vehicles driven by the ssme player and compare their performance.
As someone who was playing on an original xbox one with keyboard and mouse, the viability of the 76 jumbo honestly also depends on your frame rate. In a lot of situations, my game would get as low as 15-20 fps, and hitting a gun barrel is really hard at that speed. I'm now on the Series X, so it's easier to fine-tune my aim, but its still a factor.

I absolutely love the T26E5. The armor is fantastic and consistently blocks the strongest guns at its BR apart from HEAT and sabot. The gun is also still potent at 6.7, with the APCR being able to pen a Tiger 2's turret. As someone who used the king tiger a lot I find it plays very similarly. You can basically just push forward with some friendly tanks and tank shots while the others make sure your sides are protected. The gun can reliably pen pretty much anything except for soviet heavy tanks, but thankfully most of them can't pen you either, which means that you are typically able to shoot their barrel and immobilize them while they reload.
Very informative. Thank you.

Ironically enough, in the Asia servers the T26E5’s reaction time is substantial, against every single tank they always bounce or shoot without aiming and it’s always easy to hit the second shot right on… unless you get paired to fight against BMPs and Marauders
Don't worry oxy, i treat this series as a movies so i grab some snacks and watch it in full lengths 🔥

I’ve gotten 3 nukes on the M26 T99. I usually empty the top ammo rack, and just use the bottoms. If you learn to use it you can overpressure heavy tanks from underneath, and many other tactics. I also learned a method of launching the rockets onto points, and If it is far away enough, the rockets land on the roof areas of tanks and overpressure them.
Just recently started playing War Thunder, maybe played it for about a month now and Im in the 6.7 tier. This vid helps a lot and I didn't really use the hypershot the US tech tree gets in the previous tier because I never really found a use for it, but in this tier I found that it is really helpful with knocking out gunners in tigers and ferdinands.

how do I figure in rank and br when I create my tank line up? I'm having a real hard time w this game I rarely get over 2-3 kills
I have stonking games in the M36, the gun is just so good. Was surprised to come back and see it at 5.3, actually made a US 5.3 lineup around it which I've never had on the US. Jackson, Jumbos, M4 76 and M24 its a VERY fun line-up.
And of course you put this out the very day that Gaijin announces the T26E5 and the M26 are getting bumped up to 6.7, which now gives the M26 T99 an advantage of remaining a 6.3 tank where the standard Pershing are now 6.7.
Man... American 6.7 is going to have an absolute glut of a lineup.
Edit: Correction, M26 only going to 6.7 in Arcade, so not an issue for Realistic. T26E5 is going up for both though.
I knew the germans woukd cry abput the m26e5 and get ut uptiered.
I dont even play war thunder but your videos are so detailed and entertaining that i cant help myself but to watch it
Thanks for video! very informative and interesting to listen
oxy thank you so much for these videos. they really are amazing
Great video as always.
I would like to know where can I get this red-black-white camo for the american tanks? It is beautiful.
it sounds like you are saying the jumbo 76 is a good heavy tank because it has a happy medium between amour, firepower, and speed. Shouldn't that make it a medium tanks with a lower spawn point cost and get access to arty?
It's not a medium and it will never be. It's a heavy with lackluster ammo ... you know, like most german heavies.
@@liviuganea4108 "like most german heavy" yeah sure buddy
@@liviuganea4108 lmao what? :D german guns are literally the best in the game around this br
@@billytheshoebill5364 All their heavy tanks apart from the Tiger 2 (p) have average lackluster ammo: the Tiger I can meet things like the Suka Pershing and Jumbo that can bounce most shots and those that do not bounce are eaten by the MG port. The Tiger II sees things like the T-10A, the IS-6, IS-3, IS-4, all very very diffuclt to pen, or almost impossible.
@@liviuganea4108 get good
Wait oxy, how can i get the camo like on your walker bulldog?
what bother me about T29 and T30 is the rail behind the turret...what are they used for? why is it so bothering to look at??
I'm curious Oxy.
If you ever finish going over all the tech trees, will you ever do revisions of the old ones like the British tech-tree to reflect changes over the years?
Dude, lets go, i was watching the british review last night lol and thinking when this would be out.
love these videos, they are very helpful
Lineups don't apply to most players. Tanks mid tier to high are so expensive to spade and repair that most will more often bring one vehicle only and leave once killed. Most players are killed very early on as well which means short one sided matches. The game is, from a game play and player quality of life standpoint, poorly implemented, overly frustrating, and far too grind focused to ever be fun to more than a niche handful of players who know every vehicle backwards and forwards and every maps sweet spots and exploits. Moving the jumbo 76 to a higher br is a prime example of this. It's performance on a spread sheet might support your argument, but in game it is not, by the majority of players, that effective. And it's repair cost means even if you do manage a kill or two you still wont break even. WarThunder hates it's players. It sadistically punishes failure, it meagerly rewards success, it's game modes do not play to the strengths of the vehicles used. It's a tedious toxic predatory pyramid scheme. You have to really try to be more sleezy than WarGaming but Gaijin managed to out slime them by a mile. No wonder their mascot is a snail. Do not give Gaijin money. Ever.
He works for gayjin now. Dont expect him to acknowledge this.
What's the camo net you have on the bulldogs turret and please tell me how to get it? 🤣
Oxy’s back :D
It is incredible how much time you put into your videos, and you have helped me with your knowledge. What nation are you planing to do next? Cheers
You know ive watched you shoot a whole bunch of cannon barrels to great effect this whole video and I honestly dont understand. I have purposely shot at barrels HUNDREDS of times and it literally does nothing.... every time i shoot a barrel of an enemy it either bounces or doesnt even yellow the barrel just does nothing no bounce just huh weird a 120mm apds round to my 90mm barrel well i guess that wont do anything at all and promptly one taps my tank.....
I remember when I was playing with the 76mm jumbo whem it was at 6.0... I could hold a point and survive for a while, after it got to 6.3 I just couldn't play it, it feels bad for an average player, not every player can hit a jagdpanther's machine gun port from a long distance
I loved this tank...
Yeah he lost me at that. 6.3 Jumbo is just ass lol
He says that the jumbo stab is a huge advantage but the tiger 2p can shot accurately at 40kph
@@humanhuman5024 It...can't.
He works for gayjin. Hes never going to actually say anything is bad.
@@liviuganea4108 it can I have done it many times
BEEN waiting for this
"This video is longer than a feature length film"
*Perfect*
Sitting down and watching this is like watching and enjoying a really good movie. Now we wait for another month or months for the other part.
I know it is probably a skill issue but whenever I play the T26E5, I know it is good but I always suffer while playing it as it feels like every single shot I take always hits perfectly in either the gun mantlet or in the tiniest weak spots without ever getting the good RNG of the bouncing, I’ve even been penned by a ZSU 57 frontally at range, what am I supposed to do about this?
I really appreciate your perspective on the jumbo
Just got the jumbo 76 and was really excited to play it considering the only other American tank with armor I had played was the 75 jumbo, if you play it liek a normal sherman but keep in mind you have some armor on it this thing kills
Really like these kinds of videos and overviews.
I love the super hellcat especially when this tank is so heavy dominated from all nations it works for getting around all tanks in my experience but the new additions to the m36b is wonderful too
Thank you so much for this video I use your videos to help me in wt and iam stuck at American mid tier (6.7) thank you so much man
hey oxy, could you make a series of videos talking about maps, cover, site lines and positions?
would be rlly helpful
Outstanding!!...I don't play tonks but I love watching your vids...
with the T26E5 being uptiered to 6.7 are there any alternatives?
I was looking foward to this episode. This is my favorite tier. Dont worry about vid length its important to be thorough although maybe the opinion on br/balance should be more brief with longer explanations in a separate vid. Do what you want I will watch either way.
Thank you for this series it's helped me learn this game. Looking forward to the Israeli tech tree break downs
another "pro" for me in the scorpion would be the recoil, because if you going reverese trying to evade something, that recoil gave me that little boost to evade the enemy shell multiple times. just fire it randomly somewhere infront of you while going backwards. it's awsome!
4:25 Correction, it doesn’t have any of the downsides of APCR save for post pen damage and angles, and even then, it is still no where near as bad as APCR in these regards. In addition, it also work great at range thanks to its high velocity and it retains a lot of penetration at range, even compared to APBC shells.
Hey I was just wondering, I’m almost in tank 3 tank ground and wanted to get the t29 on the next sale, this is because it is only $20, I have never owned a ground premium so I was wondering if it works the same as jets where I can’t grind the tech tree with it and use it until rank 4-5.
The t29 can research any rank below it and one above.
Your point about t26e5 armour is interesting. It makes you think, maybe tanks with almost good armour are better sometimes? Because enemy will try to get trough it and not aim for weakspots.
what is nutrel-stireng/left right
Me still waiting for the Japan Faction Videos:
*Maybe next year...*
Me too
15:15 Everyone else is playing War Thunder while Oxy's out here playing Girls Und Panzer: Dream Tank Match
Next one comes out on Christmas. Now that would be the best gift
