Definitely a nice upgrade over my 8 year old gaming PC I built. I never thought I'd be going to a gaming laptop after recommending against them to all my friends for years, but this time, portability is going to be a good QoL over my desktop and for $520 having a significant upgrade in specs is also going to be awesome.

    This is a SUPER late reply, but by default the iGPU in the 5600H is allocated 2GB of system memory, which is why Halo was peaking at 5.6GB and having such a hard time. You can go into the BIOS and drop it down to 1GB (with a single 8GB stick) or even 512MB once you've got dual-channel installed. That will give you back a bunch of headroom and you'll see performance recover accordingly.

    Some notes about my skew version though is that it only has space for 2 M.2 drives but with better battery life and 8 GB on board. Spent another extra PHP 10k /USD 200 for an extra TB of SSD Storage and 16GB of RAM making the setup pretty good.
    I highly recommend this laptop for countries that have this skew like the Philippines since it's very good for the price especially for the display, connectivity, and keyboard this Laptop has!

      Best practice lang talaga na ma internalize mo na mataas talaga ang temps kapag laptop unlike mga Tower PC na may malakas at malaki na fans + maraming airflow.

      Add lang tho, if on idle, like desktop lang tas no background apps, pero mainit yung keyboard, like unbearable na mainit, then try mo puntahan ang Lenovo service center, baka old thermal paste lang or blocked lang yung airflow sa fans (make sure to clean once a month or every other month!).

Look at how far its boosting, that laptop actually has pretty decent cooling which is how its sitting at or above 4ghz the whole time. For instance I have a over the top ROG laptop with a 3080 and a 5950h in it and it also sits around 90c+ if I have it in a performance mode. I keep hearing gaming pc reviewers etc describe things as "not playable" when they're getting over 30fps, which has been the most common frame rate people have played games at for at least going back to the 90s. If there is stutter it's not the frame rate being too low, it's because it's fluctuating like mad, if you lock the frame rate at a comfortable level it'll be smooth.

    Thanks for the review and putting on my radar to buy. But I have a couple thoughts.
    Firstly the RAM is so cheap like you said, so factor in another $35 when the budget allows it. EASY.
    Second, those CPU temps are concerning. I have no idea what the ventilation was in the office, or if it was running under an incorrect power profile (like silent) which would not allow the fans to ramp up enough. Ryzens should not be hitting 95C.
    Third, you didn't mention the GPU power usage or set it up on After Burner. That's a miss. I would have liked to see that. Anyone know?
    I am REALLY interested in getting this over the Dell G15 5511 or 5515 which also go around the $600 mark with a 3050 Ti. The Dell just looks to be much bigger/heavier than the Lenovo.

      Ryzens easily hit 95c, Ive tried 5 or so ryzen laptops in the past six months and all could hit 90c+ while gaming. 3 of those were legions(5, 5 17", 5 pro) and the legions had better cooling than the others, hovering around mid to high 80s, and reaching the 90s after extended sessions, though it was mostly peaks.

      @@ultimategohan1551 haven’t played Apex yet. Maybe once I am over No Build in Fortnite. Performance mode at 140W does seem to keep the temps down since the fans spin up a lot more. Regardless sounds like so shouldn’t panic if it’s under 90c.

    When you were playing HALO INFINITE, and getting 40-50FPS you were getting some kind of bottleneck. The 3050Ti was being used like 40-50% and CPU at 100% that's why you had a weaker performance. I'm not sure why as the 5600H should be more than capable of handling the 3050Ti... maybe a driver based issue?
    EDIT : RAM could be also an issue, but the laptop was using 5.6GB only? Dunno...

    • @5h4ck
      @5h4ck Год назад

      This is a SUPER late reply, but by default the iGPU in the 5600H is allocated 2GB of system memory, which is why Halo was peaking at 5.6GB. You can go into the BIOS and drop it down to 1GB (with a single 8GB stick) or even 512MB once you've got dual-channel installed. That will give you back a bunch of headroom and you'll see performance recover accordingly.
