I’m going to Japan for my bday in august boogie🎉 I’d like to see you go to a few small cool museums maybe. Have a great trip and good video as always ☺️
Apart from every book-off you can find (this was what we did last time), i recommend a slow afternoon in the Kyoto International Manga Museum. Not only can you see a lot of manga and manga/otaku culture from around the world, but you can also access a large library of manga, in Japanese, but also a selection from around the world. It was really fun to see some German manga exhibits there.
You Should Totally Go To The Manga Cafe And Go To Mandarake.
Bit of a long recommendation list for your vacation to Japan, I went 4 years ago just before the pandemic so some places I remember might have closed down by now(?) But I'll list off a few you might be interested in.
-Obviously visiting temples such as Senso-ji or Kiyomizu-dera
-Studio Ghibli museum (don't think your allowed to record or take pictures though so depends if you want to go for yourself or if you wanted to make content from it) you can however take pictures with the robot from Laputa on the roof
-literally anything in Harajuku, there was a really cool cafe called Kawaii Monster Cafe which would have made for an amazing vlog but it might be closed now
-visiting Fuji, you can get a tour up to the 5th station and you can get an add on to go on a tour of Aokigahara forest to visit ice caves and learn some history about the area
-Weird animal cafes such as hedgehogs, owls, capybara. There was also a Shiba cafe I wanted to go to but you could see the massive line through the windows to get in so I never got the chance lmao
-The life size Unicorn Gundam at Odaiba's DiverCity Tokyo Plaza would also be a cool place to check out
Can't think of anything else atm but I would kill to go back to Japan again to try more things. Congrats on finally getting to go to Japan

@@Ghostx6 I will say that I just picked up the Tokyo ghoul box set and am LOVING IT. Such a good manga. And at $140ish, I feel like it's worth the money. Just a suggestion! 😊
Me and my closet friend went to Japan this past late March/early April. We visited Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. The good food, clean transportation, and polite people made it a trip to remember! Plus, Cherry Blossom season made everything look like a painting!

Must visits for you in Japan:
1. Kyoto international manga museum. (Amazing, best place in the world. Loads of floors of exhibits then you can spend the who day reading the huge collection of english manga.
2. Starbucks in Kyoto Ninenzaka Yasaka Chaya (a starbucks which blends into traditional kyoto architecture)
3. Bamboo forest (iconic, near kyoto with all the Tori gates etc)
4. Hiroshima war memorial (horrific but one of the most memorable experiences for me)
5. Tokyo, roppongi district in general but also Brewdog pub (it's a Scottish brewery)😅🎉

Reading a few pages at a physical store is so much fun. Although I do the same with digital samples but a store is so much better, especially when you have the MANGA section all to yourself. BTW, those FLCL books look cool. Can't wait for your Japan trip!

I 100% recommend Mandarake in Akibahara! Heads up, there are certain floors you can’t film on though. Have a great time in Japan!

I missed out on buying D.Gray-man volume 26 (it released when I was on a manga hiatus and I didn't notice it's release) and it was completely out of stock for the longest time (even used you couldn't find it) and it was the only volume I was missing. The publisher finally reprinted it a few weeks ago and I now have all of the series! I'm really happy because it's one of my favorite manga series!
edit: I'm talking about the german version of D.Gray-man. xD
Other then monthly preorders I feel like I’ll forever be looking for a reasonably priced set of Sundome. Also may double dip and get The Girl on the Shore hard cover!

Wow this is crazy Boogie!! I was in Long Beach this week to attend a conference and I was actually able to go to Book Off in little Tokyo!! It was such an great experience and I got to get vol 1 of cross game for only 10 bucks 🤩

Congrats on your coming trip. As a mangatuber, will you be stopping at a manga cafe? Some even have English-translated manga.
Collecting wise I have two series on my radar one is easy to find the other is super rare. Tenna on S-String volume 6, a music based manga but it's last two volumes are hard to find. And a classic in Dragon Knights volume 26...that volume is rare and most times when I find it it's selling for huge numbers online. But I'll keep trying...😅

I saw Gakuen Alice and I legit had to stop watching. I love that series so much, I've always wanted to get my hands on the English release, but I live in a place where manga is almost never sold physically and seeing it just sitting there amongst a million other volumes hurts my heart.

Japan dats kool. Lakewood book off is my least favorite Bookoff location. Most items are priced incorrectly and when you go pay they increase the price on the spot. Waste of time !
