Any bookstore I can get lost in is a plus and I believe the last bookstore is someplace my mom would have to call me in order to find me which usually happens anyway.
I've been reading books for my entire life and manga on and off and when I tell you I could spend that whole day in The Last Bookstore I mean it my entire life revolves around my books, their smells, how they look, it's literally the thing that makes me happiest
I also read normal novels along with manga! I think if anyone is making the jumó from Manga to Novels, checking out Japanese translated authors such as Haruki Murikami, Meiko Kawakami, or Kazuo Ishiguro are good places to start! While they aren’t necessarily anything like mangas, the culture and writing is fairly reminiscent to slice of life/thriller mangas. Also the obvious, manga light novels are a great way of starting.
I'd also recommend Yukio Mishima and Osamu Dazai! Fantastic novelists. Side note - Ishiguro isn't translated, he's British. Love Klara and the Sun and just getting around to reading the Unconsoled.
I do read novels, my mom and I are very similar (shocking) in that when she was growing up she was a bit of a bookworm, her favorite author being Stephen king, and when I was growing up I was really into goosebumps, which I find funny considering R.L Stine is called the Stephen king for kids. Thanks to manga and mainly light novels I’ve begun to rekindle my love for regular novels.
LNs really did serve as my gateway back into reading novels myself again too! It's a great way to slowly rekindle the want and passion to read books again imo
when I saw the thousand sunny in the background I thought how cool it would be to have it between the last volume of going merry and the first one when thousand sunny sails from water 7.
Volume 4 of Dai Dark is the one and ONLY volume they have at my local book store lol. I’ve been searching for volume 1 so I can start my collection, maybe I’ll just look online
Obligatory UNDEAD MESSIAH IN THE WILD! comment. Sorry, but it makes me happy to see it being sold in the US. You rarely see non-Japanese manga sold, even less non-English ones in such videos (they were published by Tokyopop Germany). I love reading "normal" novels besides manga and light novels. I rarely have time for it (and way too many unread ones on my shelf), but I've been meaning to reread Tolkien for a long time, since the last time is almost 20 years ago.
I do read actual novels and currently I am reading the short, fast paced series called MurderBot Diariea by Martha Wells!! I saw you bought that LOTR box set and because I bought the same set… let me warn you that once you take those books out they will absolutely NOT fit back in. :((( It was a huge bummer since the art is so cool!! 😞
I love your videos they always leave me with so many recommendations also you can pick up the bleach box set 2 on book depository and it has free worldwide shipping.
I actually read more books than manga, but I mostly read books that are a series(harry potter, percy jackson, the chronicles of nárnia and the hunger games)
To answer your question what would I pick up from what I saw it would be planetes by makoto yukimura (author of Vinland saga) been wanting to read it for so long
Got to go out to my nans to pick up volumes 29,30,31 of mha and volumes 2,3and4 of mha vigilantes. And i got volume 32mha and volumes 5,6,7,8and 9 of mha vigilantes otw.
I was wondering if you got the new hard cover for Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan. If not, I recommend looking into it. I just got it delivered in and it goes so well with all the other hard cover Jojo volumes.
yo boogie have you read 20th century boys? just started it last week and somehow now have 4 volumes of the perfect edition. feels strange to say as a die hard one piece fan, but it's quickly becoming my favourite manga
@@casperlambert6783 yeah I have the lord of the rings edition. It has red sprayed edges with the ring writing stenciled into it in white and the illustrations are by Tolkien himself. Believe it set me back 80 but you can pick it up for Cheaper on Amazon.
I FINALLY WENT TO JAPAN ✈(first vlog here)

This is so cool. I can relate to the joy of being lost in a huge bookstore(s), there is not many of them left now.
I’ve been waiting for this🎉

As a European it's really weird looking at a map of a US city. So many straight lines.
