I though great, he is going to be thorough. I wanted to make sure I bought the correct external 5 volt charger to keep it plugged in and while I was here double check that I am buying the correct is it mini or micro HDMI cord. But you went right over that info like it was not important. I am sure after I turn it on I will have questions on the settings which were also not covered but you did say go to your written page, I have not read my manual because I have eye disease.
Just found one a basement clean out from a customer. Came with everything including a card and bag. It's my first point and shoot camera. I have all types of DSLR cameras I've purchased over the years. I was surprised to see it's a 12.1 megapixel camera. The new iPhone 14 is only a 12 megapixel camera. I'm hopefully I get some great shots with this little freebie 😊
I have seen this video about 10 times in the last 7 or 8 years and there is always something new to learn, I am still using my 520 and your videos are a good reminder of how much fun it is. THANK YOU.
Well that's the best 43 minutes I've spent since buying my Coolpix530 some years back! I wish I had come across it earlier, thanks Tony for taking the time.
This was so great!!! I have the N L340... I started watching raw... then decided to actually get my camera and follow along.. best decision ever... Thank you so much!!!
I enjoyed this tutorial. I really appreciate your list in the table of contents where you break down each topic by the minute marker! I will definitely be re-watching specific areas you spoke about as I learn to use my new Nikon camera. Thank you.
I’ve had this Nikon L830 and only used it once 6 years ago. I watched your tutorial and snapped a few shots what a difference. I also shut off the beep 😊 much better for candid shots . Great tutorial and I’m to take some winter shots Thanks again
You explain so well and more informative than others. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I love photography and taking videos. All my friends and family gave me so much compliments for all photos I took, and they all said I could make money as a photographer. However, I Never pay attention what’s in the cameras. Now, as I understand more from your tutorials, I am going to take it more seriously. Since iPhone have great camera, I stop using all my Nikons. But, since I’m planning to make my RUclips channels, I need many cameras for different angles. I found that you are the only one who explains details and generously. Thank you 🙏
I've used one of these cameras to take videos of myself out in my shop building jewelry cases for years and never knew it had so many features. Thank you for this video. I learned a bunch from it and you made it easy to understand.
Three years ago I switched from Nikon Coolpix P900 to Olympus Micro 4/3ds. Recently I was looking way back at some old photos that where taken by the P900 and they looked really good so I wanted to give this camera a second chance but kinda forgot how to use it. This was a good refresher for using the Nikon. Thanks tony!
I have had my camera for quite some time now, this has really helped me understand it better. and helping me improve my pictures. thank you for this tutorial.
Thanks! The only piece of advice I will disregard is about the lens cap. Mine came with a strap. I attached it to the camera stap. POP! In a split second it is off, but never lost. And in the conditions I am often in, wind and thus probable grit, on mule rides, that extra protection is a good idea.
My favorite digital camera of all time was the Nikon Coolpix 5700. I replaced it with a DSLR (D40, still in use) because the 5700 did not deliver the auto-focus and inter-shot time I needed. I haven't been convinced that any Coolpix since will deliver DSLR-like performance. My photographic needs are not complex or demanding. But I have hundreds of 5700 shots where the exposure lags what I thought I was shooting by a second or more. I still crave the simplicity, compactness, and economy of the 5700. I hope you'll examine Coolpix shooting performance in a future video.
I’ve had my coolpix b500 for over a year now and i have learned SO MUCH from this video! I even found out my laptop has a sd card slot (i kinda lost the cable)!!
I love my Nikon Coolpix and your tutorial answered alot of my questions on the features I was not sure of so thank you and you were easy to follow your a good speaker.
Thanks for a good tutorial. Bought this camera a year ago but haven't used it much as I was not familiar with its capabilities. Watching your video has given me a much better understanding than trying to read the manual. A great camera for those who don't need a full SLR.

how do I get videos to stay brighter? when I have the camera on the object in front of me looks bright on the camera LCD but once I start recording the video becomes dark. thanks for your help
I have been watching your RUclips videos and came across this Coolpix tutorial. Just what I needed!!. I purchased a used P-900 a couple years ago, and this video is just what I needed. So much that I didn't have a clue about, now after watching, I feel more confident that I will be able to be more successful using this camera. I will be rewatching this video again and try to learn as much as possible. You really explained a lot to me.
does anyone know how to record during night time? i record cars and would like videos of theem driving by in darkness or close to it. any advice on settings? please help!
Great video and tutorial, thanks! I was very interested in buying the L840, watching you using it for this video gave me even more confidence in the model (I watched another reviews as well). I bought it a couple of days ago.
When i put my nikon coolpix b500 off, the button from off/on still lights. Is that bad? Because I have my camera since today! I still don't know how it exacly works...
I'm finding your videos really useful, not least of all because (a I'm a complete novice photographer, and b) because I'm very soon going to buy the Nikon Coolpix B500. I'll be able to operate the camera really well before I even have it at this rate!😁
Hello, I have the Nikon B500 and have so much trouble trying to get a clear photo. I also cannot get the monitor bright enough in daylight to look through it to see what I'm shooting. How do I lighten the monitor so I can see the item of focus? I have never had this problem with another camera. Thank you.
Thank you for this video. I love your videos, very informative.I just purchased a L840 for my RUclips channel, it replaced my canon ELPH 100 HS, although I don't see much difference in the videos, I assume it's because I don't know how to set it.So thanks again for the detailed settings instruction.
I just got a p950, which has a few features that these cameras don't. It can take an external mic, and it shoots in RAW. Thanks for explaining many of the controls and how they will influence the photo outcome. You were very understandable, and didn't go overboard as some videos do, which cam be overwhelming to an inexperienced photographer. I did have a difficult time seeing what you were doing some of the time because your hand was in the way, or your filming camera wasn't actually pointing at the screen you wanted us to see. Also, I wish you were focusing on something other than your computer screen so that we could see the effects of what you were doing. Thanks for the tips about accessories we might find handy, and Google Picaso, which I will absolutely check out.
Thanks for the tutorial. One request (from a rookie), please can you zoom in or focus in when you are showing which buttons to press (e.g. for sport setting). Thanks.

my coolpix l840 doesnt allow me the use another monitor as a view finder. why? or am i wrong? since the screen doesnt flip out i tell if im in focus or not so i need an external monitor but it only allows playback...
My One is brand new, and I’m wanting to use it to record videos, but when I press the record button it starts recording then stops after several seconds, it’s got brand new batteries, and and empty memory on the SD and the Camera
Love your video. But so confusing when on portrait episode. Following closely, but my camera didn't have the icon portrait. Finally found it by clicking on the moon that came up under Scenes, then the panorama icon, finally it added that 2nd row of selections. Whew! Finally understand that whatever (scenes) was selected last appeared under Scenes the scenes icon. After hours of researching your video over and over and reading the manual over and over. I get it!
Hi Tony. I wish to know where to get a filter adapter for the NIKON B600 given that it doesn't have a thread on the lens, other than a set of grooves for the lens cap. Thanks
Hey I have a Nikon B600 & I'm having trouble I'm just a beginner so it might sound dumb but I can't figure out how to put different lenses on it, can anyone help me?
So i bought my nikon cooplix p900 and im just wondering why i always manually press the flash button of my camera.. is there any settings for that to make it auto??
Tony, I have a Coolpix 5700 which I love dearly I like the movie feature however it only allows recording in 1 minute segments. Is there any way of lengthening that time period? Thanks
@@TonyAndChelsea It is not with the SD card but the length of time it will record then go to an auto stop there is loads of space left on the SD card. This is why I think it is a firmware in the camera. Do you know of any one who hacks these?
