This has always been in my top ten episodes on the strength of the class protector award alone. It's so gratifying to see Buffy get the recognition she deserves. I'm always glad to see a reactor cry as much as I do to this. Thank you and bless you for your tears.
Defo gonna be a fav
Xander paying off Cordy's dress makes me tear up too. And not telling anyone about her struggles. It's so genuinely sweet.
ETA: oh yeah, and the award and Angel showing up in a tux. This episode, man
Every time I committed to disliking him the writers would always turn around and have him say or do something so nice and I was straight back in to liking him again!
@@mattyh2464 Yeah, Xander is a very damaged character. But he does have a good heart
I believe this is Sarah Michelle Gellar's favorite episode. She loved Buffy getting that true recognition from so many people she has saved. This show is so great at bringing back characters we weren't expecting to see again. Anya's sale's pitch for prom is GOLD. There are so many great moments in this episode: Willow comforting Buffy, Xander paying for the dress, Buffy getting some recognition. And one of my favs: Giles being sympathetic to Buffy when she tells him Angel is leaving, despite how hard it must be for Giles to have Angel around. I love how he inquires if this is a situation where ice cream is warranted.
Loved it
You've GOT to know you can't risk watching a random ep of this without tissues.
I should have learnt!
@@GeorgeAlexander3110 make sure you do! The sensitive way reactors like you approach these makes them so great to watch - but it's also important to take care of yourself when the next several tear-jerker moments happen.
It's great to see that this is what other students thought of her and they made a point to acknowledge her by adding that extra category.
You must think i'm a sadist with how much i tell you that I'm laughing at your crying, BUT you crying whilst the chipmunk's version of White Horses is playing gave me a chuckle.
This is a top tier episode, the umbrella is a perfect metaphor for Buffy, she protects everyone from the storm that is the hellmouth.
Hahaha copyright wasn’t gettin my ass
The class protector award is one of the most touching scenes in the whole season 😭
FYI, Danny Strong (Jonathan) is very successful writing movies and tv shows. He was also in Gilmore Girls, I loved him in that.
So I heard I love him!
Class Protector ALWAYS gets me.
😭💜
I love that you love Buffy/Angel -- seems rare these days. SMG plays her heartbreak so well, and Angel showing up at the prom will always make me teary.
One of my fave episodes of the show in general. Class protector is what she deserves 🎉🎉
I love it!
I am still bangel, and I think I will always be! ❤❤
Buffy - lessons in how to learn to cry like a hungry lonely baby.
For sure
"This fecking show!" Yeah, don't know how many times I've said that.....
Gahahaha
I would bet boat loads of money that you were gonna cry at Class Protector scene. It was inevitable. at least they were happy tears for a change. Also loved SMG emotional breakdown with Willow. She always hits it out of the park with the tears
Totally
"...later than we thought."
It always is.
Always ALWAYS have tissues on hand with the show. Because you definitely will be shedding tears throughout the rest of the Buffy series
Fun fact for you. The guy who plays tucker does the singing voice for Aladdin 😊
No way??
@@GeorgeAlexander3110 yep I was amazed too!
Beautiful episode with other goals but so iconic. Buffy deserves the recognition
Some very funny comedy moments in this episode especially when Xander says to Anya when the says she hasn't got a date for Prom and he says ' it must be your sales pitch ' Xander shows he still cares for Cordelia by paying for her dress. The interaction with Joyce and Angel is very interesting and Angel knows deep down she's right. Overall the story of the episode is pretty average, only saved by Buffy's award at The Prom at the end. The Oscar's type feel to the presentation is so well done. SMG said this was her favourite scene from the whole show. The last two episodes season finale are something else!
Buffy runs a sword through Angel gets kicked out of her house by her mom kicked out of school by her principal. Now Buffy gets an award and you cry harder than you did then, you're a sucker for appreciation.
Love a ceremony
Me seeing you weep when Xander pays for Cordy’s dress, ‘Oh girl…’ 😂
🤣🤣🤣
The moment so many ignored in high school semi-yearn for: being seen by those around them for how special they truly are.
This episode gets me every. single. time. 😭😭😭
Right?! 😭💜
You're allowed to cry all the way through The Prom. You'd have to be dead not to.
🤣🤣
Yeah. Me too with this one, George. 😭
Hello Anya, always a pleasure!
Fun fact the scene where Buffy and Angel break up smg was so heartbroken and was actually crying the had to stop producing for 10 minutes and her and David just held each other. I think this is a known thing but smg is the biggest Buffy/Angel shipper out there lol so the scenes she with him being emotional are so good because there really isn’t any acting there😭
*production
Awww cute
There’s something about That Scene in the sewer about which I have Thoughts™. You hit the nail on the head: Buffy’s still a girl (granted, a strong, responsible vampire-fight in’ girl, but still). When Angel does his break-up speech, I’d assume her teen emotions kick into overdrive. Here’s how I read the next bit: she tells Angel she “wants to treat of her life to be with him” and, with the neurochemical equivalent of a small nuke going off in her head, when he answers “I don’t”, what she hears right then is “I don’t want to be with you” when, what he actually said was “I don’t want the rest of your life to be with me”. Which, sure, means the same thing in terms of their lives, but it is subtly different.
You reacted just like millions before you. Don’t think you are over sensitive, it’s this show. There is no way to explain how this little supernatural show with a hero named Buffy! Can make so many different people , from different countries, and different cultures react the same way. I can talk with any Buffy fan, never talked before or know them well, and just ask… The Prom. That’s all and.. first their face changes, a simple smile, their head slightly goes back, and their eyes look up seeing a memory. The voice I hear is happy, bittersweet, melancholy, and wrapped with personal memories. That’s The Prom. The plot development, the stories of Cordey and Anya, the breakup…. all would easily be the point that sticks but NO. A simple little speech by Jonathan ( of all people) and a silly umbrella ☂️ becomes one of the most cherished moments that happens in 144 episodes. BTVS can be hard, difficult, and thought provoking/ Its never thought of being a sentimental show yet from when Jonathan says, we have another award until Buffy snuggles in for her dance while we hear Wild Horses… it’s the most authentically beautiful sentimental moment I have ever watched on television. Thank you for sharing your reaction
This one makes me cry even on reactions. Its SO freaking beautiful. She got her normal teenage moment. So well deserved
I cry at the class protector scene no matter how many times I've seen it.
Sooo good!!
I love Anya but Xander is such a hypocrite for constantly whining about Angel and then dating someone who has an even higher body count
Xander's transparent jealousy of Angel is one of the most annoying/realistic things about the show.
This show…..❤
Let the crying begin.....😭
😭😭😭
If THIS episode has you in such tatters, I fear you will not survive what's to come in future seasons.
Oh god.
Fun Fact: Tucker has a brother.
No way hahha
The whole school. The whole damn school. Pay attention marvel disney litter box.
🥰🥰
Xander makes some really terrible decisions as a character but every so often he does something like this that makes it difficult to hate him
Right? In many ways he's the most ordinary human character in the show.
