We stream Angel every week on Twitch (or our Podcast channel depending if twitch wants to act foolish) on Tuesday afternoon! be sure to tune in so you don't miss a beat!
Angel episode 9 is on Patreon and sooooo good. Everything you want it to be and they read comments on Twitch afterwards which makes it extra great.
put it on youtube you cowards
@@notoriouslybratty are they watching these shows in ORDER tho or not. Like Angel episode 8 that led into the Buffy Thanksgiving episode that led into Angel episode 9
@@Hoenhime344is it Twitch exclusive?
@@notyouraveragebear9326 they did for those because everyone harassed them too (on twitch) 😂 it was concerning because they typically watch them in batches. From their outfits, they were all watched the same day.
When Spike was digging for the gem of Amara, he told Harmony to eat the guy chained up. He was wearing military fatigues, and Harmony said she didn't want to eat him because "he tastes funny."
The millions of times I’ve watched every single episode, I never made this obvious connection..thanks..!
OMG!!! Why am I today year's old and now just only getting this? For some reason I thought that was only happening to a select few of them AFTER they learned about the Slayer. Kinda like the Super Soldier program in Captain America...only the best would've had that done to them.
Wow, I never caught that. I’ve only watched this show ten thousand times🤦♂️
I love that detail.
All these years, I assumed it was because the poor guy was mostly dead and she wanted a fresh "meal," but your comment makes so much more sense. 😄
Honestly hiding a squad of soldiers in a small city by pretending they're a group of tight knit frat boys is pretty clever.
Well yeah, that other fraternity (cult) was sacrificing girls for at least 50 years and no one caught on until Buffy stopped them. Very clever plan, hiding in plain sight.
That vamp in the cell next door to Spike is the one who escaped when Buffy was fighting Sunday and her gang in episode 1.
Like I know season 4 isnt the best but narratively they set things up so well. Veruca, this vamp, The Initiative
@@sagaofsarahrose I always defend this season, I feel like it’s just “acceptable”to criticize this season unjustly..college is an awkward transition, and they did a great job of showing the newness, the transition, the experimentation, the changes..
@@johncspine2787 i just find the initiative boring. the season does have some good episodes.
@@sgtmian the commentary by Joss and Marti is funny, they loved how lame the Initiative was because they didn’t have much money to pull it off, so it’s very low budget..lol..
This group is never gonna catch stuff like that because the four dudes on the right never shut the fuck up and watch
Ahh yes the epic Xander vs Harmony battle. It is one for the ages.
This brutal fight of equal rivals, Harmony and Xander. Spike having problems to perform and boosting Willow's self-confidence as a desirable woman. Thank you, William. We can always count on you in such cases, lol. Finally something really interesting in the season. I love these scenes.
H vs X: Best...slo mo scene...ever!
And Spike really is a romantic at heart.
The only thing missing from the fight scene was a wide shot with an obvious stunt double.
You didn't find the previous episodes interesting?
@@jp3813 most of the previous eps in the season are mediocre for me. Spike character is the best thing this show offered me so I enjoy episodes with him the most. And that was his only 2nd ep in this season as well as I remember. So.
This is a great episode. The Xander/Harmony scene and the Spike/Willow scene are both amazing.
When you rewatch the Xander/Harmony fight scene, listen to the music too, it’s so serious, like it’s this huge, dramatic fight scene..
The big musical hits when Harmony slaps him, and when Xander kickers her in the shin are terrific foreshadowing for a “serious” fight scene..
The Spike/Willow scene is one of the Best in all of Buff
Btw remember everyone who went to Sunnydale High knows about Buffy but The Mayor was covering everything up outside of the school so the mass public what was reported.
I like the initial premise of The Initiative, Buffy is good at having big bad being metaphors for real life teen/young adult situation’s (Angelus being a metaphor for a bad relationship), and this whole season being about the overwhelming feelings of College, having the main antagonist be another institution that’s all about control, learning, and molding youth is kind of ingenious.
I like your handle. And what you said. ^^ The show works on multiple levels and that's why it is still my favorite show.
@@Cliohna Thank you, I appreciate it, and it's one of my favorite shows as well
We definitely need a Cabin in the Woods reaction! 12:14 also best fight scene EVER
Yes
I just found it funny, but i honestly can't tell if that was intended. After all, joss is a funny guy when he isn't being a mutherfucker
Spidey is my guy for recognizing Forrest from Heroes and Drumline first! 🖤
Single best fight scene in television history..! The slow motion is completely awesome!
This feels like the central heart of the whole Buffy series in these like six episodes..so funny, such humor, so many reveals, so much more to go, foreshadowing, I still love this season no matter how many ppl seem to think that it makes them seem smart or discerning to criticize it..
I dont think there s a BAD season of Buffy. Season 4 is maybe a bit more chaotic and i consider it to be a transitionary season. But there are so many wild amazing episodes in it
17:26 vampires in this universe can be uninvited to a house they’ve been invited to, as seen in “Passion”, but it’s an incantation that they’ve only used once so they don’t have it memorized, and we haven’t seen if it would repel a vampire from the space like it does on True Blood
Not sure if it's just a case of memorization or that it requires rare items, but I'd say that it should be a priority for them to memorize.
Wow, I completely forgot how bonkers this episode was. I remembered the incredible Harmony v Xander slap-fight and the Spike/Willow 'performance issues' scene, but forgot that the rest of the episode was just as wild. The tone-whiplash when going from Spike trying to bite Willow (shot as a *really* uncomfortable analogy to assault) to the "this happens to a lot of vamps" awkwardness was absolutely insane!
Your reaction added a whole additional layer of hilarity -- this was a great ride.
The slow motion by the director was a crowning touch..just awesome..best fight scene in tv history!
Their reactions are likely influencing your perception as well.
While the class of 99 in Sunnydale knew that Buffy was always there to help when strange things happened does not make that they knew that she was The Slayer, nor that even a thing such The Slayer exists.
Lol what about that harmony & Xander interaction made you guys think they were going in that direction. Funny, but confusing.
I mean...Cordy, Faith, Anya...Xander kinda has a knack for randomly bagging the (once or current) antagonistic female even for just a fling. lol
They think that about any random pairing, like even Willow & Spike.
I love Riley's earnest offering to Buffy: "Cheese?" Lol.
And Willow's badass comment: "You hurt her, I will beat you to death with a shovel." Don't mess with Willow. ❤
I like how this episode pokes fun at, lampshades and subvert every toxic masculinity tropes. Starting with the conversation between the “Initiative” boys, the hilarious interaction between Giles and Xander culminating with the slo-mow fight with Harmony, and of course Spike attack of Willow and subsequent performance issues.
I am terrified by the start of the Spike and Willow scene, but by the end, I'm always laughing my head off. It's a little disturbing. 😳😆
Willow: This doesn't make you any less terrifying.
Spike: Don't patronize me!
🤣🤣🤣
The Xander/Harmony slap fight, along with the Spike/Willow ED conversation made this episode one of their low key funniest of the series.
Marketa - this look is EVERYTHING. The hair, the suit, the shirt... I want to copy it all!
Surprised they didn’t show the intro, isn’t this where spike is added
It is; they must have been distracted.
Added? Do you mean tasered? That was last episode. :)
Ah can't wait for the next few reactions, these are such a funny trio of episodes with Spike and then 'Hush'!
My thoughts exactly!! I can't wait!!
I laughed so hard when he said “instead of being founded on an Indian burial ground…” I laughed so hard!
Your reaction to the scene between Willow and Spike and then to the scene of the Initiative guys vs Buffy was *priceless* .
The “fight” between Xander and Harmony shows that they are still feeling those bonds and roles from high school. Like fighting with a sibling, they weren’t even thinking about really killing each other, despite Harmony setting out to bite Willow before, she fell into thinking about Xander just like they were still in high school.
Been looking forward to this episode for a little while, it definitely feels like the moment where the point of the season starts to really click into place. The Spike/Willow exchange is an all-time moment in the history of the show, absolutely brilliantly written and performed. It's clearly for the gag but at the same time the writing makes it work well enough on a serious level - like Siraj said, Willow's confidence is wrecked at this point so it actually makes sense that, after all the dangerous things she's been through, a threat to her life is actually a lower priority than her wounded self-esteem. And the metaphor is handled really well.
Without giving anything away, at the time Riley was not looked on fondly by the Buffy fandom but I've always liked him as a character, he's just a good dude, and Marc Blucas plays him really well.
The next batch of episodes feature a whole bunch of absolute gold, very much looking forward to it. The reaction to the next episode is going to be verrry interesting
I had forgotten how freakin hilarious this episode was
The slow motion slap fight is one of my season highlights!
Trivia..the Initiative base was actually where they built stealth bombers..those big white balloons are what they bounce light off of for night scenes..
This is a good time to remember who Spike has been. He's a vampire, yes, he's a demon, yes, but he loved(s) Drusilla passionately. He's also the guy who proudly said "I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it." in 308. Makes you wonder what his human life was like.
Spike is also now a full cast member, so putting a chip in him allows him to be part of the show without the Scoobies needing to kill him every week. I'm so excited for the next 3 episodes!
Something Blue might be my favorite episode. But there are so many other great ones, so it's just one of my favorites. ^^
Well said! I cannot wait to see their reactions to the next few,. especially because of Spike! :D
I don't think Spike's in the opening credits yet at this point.
Marketa looking fancy. Love the look.
Oh man, the Johnny Quest reference brought back so many memories of the Real Adventure series. That first season was criminally underrated. And that opening hit HARD.
When they put the serious fight scene music and slow-mo over the slap-fight with Xander & Harmony I fucking LOST IT. Such a good bit of cinema.
I stand with the editor. Being out of capri suns is a crime.
LMAO when Harmony and Xander fought. I say that was the best scene in the episode. Laughed my axx off for 5 minutes. LOL. Great Post.
The harmony vs Zander moment makes me laugh every time. So good.
Riley & Buffy barely interacts but he likes her 😂 I never understood that plot point.
Same - reminds me of Buffy being "in love" with Angel in episode 7 of season 1 when they have barely interacted and he's been a bit of jerk for at least part of the interactions they did have -
"I thought you'd be taller" 🙄
Which come to think of it, was a complete lie on his part because he was watching her when she was called - he knew how tall she was!
@@amandabaker4678 nah there's a big difference between liking someone based on little interaction and claiming to be in love with someone based on little interaction. the former actually happens quite often and is normal, it's not that deep to find someone attractive and develop a crush based on what little you've seen/know about them
It's called a crush.
@@amandabaker4678 That's just teenage hormones at work.
@@jp3813 never crushed on someone I only had a passing knowledge of
When I think of the most anticipated episodes of the season, The Initiative doesn't usually come to mind - especially with the episodes right after it... but that's probably an underestimation on my part, because you guys got so much - and gave us so much - from this one! From the gigantic laughter during both the ridiculous "epic" Xander vs. Harm fight and the Spike/Willow convo after he was unable to bite her, to the reveals, to just general observations. I felt I had to write down several quotes, including: "Emotionally, this episode's all over the place and I love it," - Chris, only partway in. "I _love_ this show, so much," - Rana. "They did something to him. ...Did they?" - Suraj, with Marketa following with "Spike got spayed." Everybody was great here, and it's clear that you're all fully in, fully invested now. Great reaction!
I like the concept of the military fighting demons vs the Slayer, but will leave it up to you how well you think they executed it.
Oh my god! With the invisible girl again ! Loll
You missed Spike being in the credits. Or at least you didn't edit in noticing. Just in case you don't know, when someone is put in the main credits, it means they are a main character now and will be in every episode while still in the main credits. When Oz left, we got Spike full time which is awesome.
Y'all wondered if the government knows?😂😂😂 That was all us Buffy/Angel fans waiting until y'all got to this season?😂😂 It gets more explained later.
3:09 - Since you mentioned Cabin in the Woods...did you notice that one of the monsters released at the end of the movie is a giant snake. "Well, GOSH!!"
Chris is the king of character evaluation.
Loved the flash bang graphic 😂
You guys think THIS is confusing, the rest of season 4 is going to be rough on you! Please take a moment to make yourselves some tinfoil hats for the rest of the season.
Next episode is hilarious and chaotic i cant wait😎🤣
i love when the reactors reference the "invisible girl" episode. that ending apparently has made everyone shook. lol
The Initiative contains some brilliant comedy moments, from when Spike says could be 'cosmetic company' in answer to the lab rats reference. Then we also have the greatest fight in The Buffyverse, with Xander and Harmony bitch slapping and sissy kicking in slow motion, a homage to the Kung Fu series of the 1970s. We then have Spike in Willow's room, and the analogy to erectile disfunction, Willow says 'doesn't this happen to every vampire', and then Willow saying it must be me, and Spike saying he would bite her in a heartbeat, all this achingly funny. We now know about Riley and Prof Walsh, and their activity with Initiative in what is like some kind of Bond Film complex. Riley is almost as awkward as Angel when it comes to chatting up women, but we can see how much he likes her when laying out Parker. An important episode the S4 as a whole.
12:30 The contrast between this fight and Buffy's fighting makes this so much funnier. Harmony really has barely changed since high school, even though she's a vampire now,
29:03 It doesn't work like that, once invited it take a time consuming spell to 'change the locks'. Once invited a vampire can walk in any time he/she likes.
18:10 I love the way they are really talking about impotence, the way when Buffy 'came out' to her mother about being a slayer they were really talking about coming out as gay. I also love when Willow and Spike have scenes together where Spike cannot kill her. In lover's walk because he needs her to do the spell and in this one because he can't attack anyone. It's a shame there have only been a few scenes like that.
I am glad I'm not the only one who mixes up Lenard Hawkins (DL from Heroes, Forrest on Buffy) with J. August Richards (Deathlocke on AoS, Gunn on Angel)
I need the couch to remember that vampires more on instinct and to satisfy their needs. They kill and drink blood. And don't have soul. Part of their personality remains. Like a reflex, but that's it.
Also, I recommend to see Passion of the nerd commentary about this episode. ^^
YES to the Cabin In The Woods reaction. Please and thank you.
Legend has it that around the time this episode first aired, there were rumors that Alyson Hannigan might leave the show. So when Spike attacked Willow and it cut to a commercial break, there was some extra tension for the audience.
Riley is more a Captain America/Steve Rogers stand in, but RE2 was released in 1998 so it was definitely out long enough “inspire” his look if you want to believe that.
The Willow/Spike bit is golden as is her playing wing man. Xander’s hair just makes him look like a Gallagher brother.
...Ironically enough, Joss Whedon also made Cabin In The Woods.
I'm happy I'm not the only only who noticed Nick (Xander)'s hair in this episode! Nobody EVER says anything from other reactions I've seen!
The best part of this reaction is you guys explosive conversation at the end,, good stuff
Oh look, it is an episode 7. Time to get out the best slomo fight in the history of TV and peak Spike performance. 😁
Cant wait till you guys get to season 5 🤫
YES! cabin in the woods reaction! its a horror comedy much like Scream in essence!
The dumb or maybe contrived thing about the toilet seat joke is that Parker could have used literally any other inanimate object. There was nothing in that metaphor that necessitated it to be a toilet seat.
Xander and Harmony: Our battle will be the stuff of legends
nobody noticed that Spike was in the opening credits now?
I genuinely enjoy how much you guys love this show. It makes me happy. leon is leon. Riley aint no leon
Man.....i been having so much fun with you guys !!! i feel like i am part of the group ! 🙂
I was impressed that Spidey caught that Riley was one of the Marines. Then I remembered they previously watched another season 4 episode.
The Initiative had control of the locks..they put the floor on “lockdown”..I’m trying to think of stuff I forgot to say in other comments..oh yeah..the white balloons I mentioned as light bouncers for night shooting, Doug Petrie was saying in a commentary it was also a slight homage to the old British series “The Prisoner,” which was also great btw..there was a huge white balloon named Rover that would retrieve escapees..
Best part:
Riley and buddies getting retinal scanned.
Chris: (pointing at Spidey) This motherf***er!
Suraj: Did he call it?
Spidey: I diiiiiiiiiiiiiid.
Good call, Spidey! Lol. 😆🤣⭐
I thought my memory was bad but two of them have seen hush so know Riley’s commando but maybe seeing hundreds of shows they blend.
The Professor... who is an expert in operant conditioning... perfect in The Initiative to get soldiers following orders etc.
Let me be the first to say, I knew they would trip out on the Spike & Willow part more than the Initiative reveal.
I’m with Rana, wtf is it with the guys immediately thinking every single male and female, no matter the minimal interaction or the species, are about to, or want to, have sex. Apart from being boringly predictable, it’s kind of sad that this is the default view.
Anyway, this was a fun episode in a run of fun and great episodes; loving the journey and looking forward to what’s to come.
I feel like maybe they're looking for another romance to fill the hole BAngel left.
Ikr, it's weird
I'd say its weird but maybe they just have a shipper mentality. I often look for possible ships no matter how likely they might be, just to make things a little more interesting.
Cabin in the Woods, YESSSS.
Not really the beginning but technically the start of what I like to call - Annoying Neighbor Spike.
This is when I come in. When Spike starts to become one of the good guys.
Of course Parker has more game than him. Parker's life revolves around nothing but the game. Riley's not 1 for games. He's looking for something that's actually meaningful. Emotion free makes the game easy. Actually caring leaves you vulnerable, game tends to go out the window when you are vulnerable
Alright! You all go there! There's still so much to come and I'm really looking forward to seeing you all react to very specific episode. Terror is coming! 😉
Oh man, I would LOVE to see a Normies reaction to Cabin in the Woods
If you want to check out some good movies ,some suggestions ---The Wild Bunch ,a western set in 1913 --changed the portrayal violence in movies forever. The Bad Seed --a mother starts to wonder if her sweet 10 year old daughter is a murderer.Patty McCormack was 12 . Them --great 1950s Sci Fi .
Suraj's face blindness has been added to the normies canon
Love it. Keep it up. Thanks.
Season 3 is my favorite!!!! I cannot wait 🩵💙
Pleeeeeeeease use the slay alive guide. 😩 the crossover episodes and some titles really ruin it to see y'all already know. My ass still gone watch but arg.
honestly why? when the shows were airing, ppl watched one ep of buffy then one ep of angel and it was fine...
Cabin in the Woods would awesome in the future.
Spike is the love of my life
The question is: What did the President know and when did he know it?
Why ketty looking like a powerful business woman today??
SURAJ. Sir. Did you just say… “porking”?!?! 🤢🤢🤢 😂😂😂 1:36
I laughed at what Marketa said at 2:05-2:08. Not because she wasn't correct, but because everything Forrest was saying since the start of the episode was just as gross in a _grown up and act better_ kind of way, also.
For years fans wondered how Spike could escape The Initiative if he cannot harm any living creature anymore. The theory I like best is that physical violence triggered the chip into activation.
Willow should know better than to just yell come in at this point.
The difference between a dorm room and a hotel/motel room is dorm rooms are considered where people in college live therefore there needs to be an invitation. With hotel or motels, unless the person considers where they are staying a home to live (and are willing to pay said price for doing that) it is only a temporary place to be, not a home.
I was waiting for the reaction to the slow motion fighting between Harmony and Xander. I also don't know why I'm so surprised by as many reaction viewers as there are being surprised at Riley, Forrest, Graham, and Professor Walsh being part of The Initiative, but I am.
The fact that Spike starts talking to Willow after not being able to bite her is the same as Joyce talking to him in _Lovers Walk._ He needs someone to talk to and he could be a better person (surface level-wise as he's still soulless), but both parties have to be willing to do so. In the case of _Lovers Walk,_ Spike was feeling low and Joyce was acting like a mom, and in this episode's case, both Spike and Willow were so down about Oz leaving and not being able to bite anyone that Spike opened up and the scene metaphorically became a (humorous moment) about impotence, until Willow realized what she was doing and hit him on the head with the lamp.
To Suraj: Of course Riley couldn't tell it was Buffy. She shot off a flair gun when he was wearing night vision goggles.
Great great reaction.
love this episode
I love these reaction but im gutted ill never see angel reaction mainly seasons 1 2 and 5 but i understand you gotta make a living just gutted regardless
Just a comment to ALL the dudes on the couch, I've been trying to get better at the manspreading, I invite y'all to try it with me 💪
Also, the flare gun shot at 20:45 was brilliant, props to the editor
Spike should have bitten Willow. When she is a vampire they will be a badass team and as he is her Sire so they will also have this supernatural bond. Next will be the Slayer. C'mon, champ. Do it. ✊😎 That's what I would say while watching it😄
I'mma say it... Harmony deserved better.
Surprised none of yall made a comment on Spike calling buffy gorgeous.
When I first saw that back in the day I was like...EXCUSE ME?
1.1K Thumbs Up + Mine! 👍 You're welcome! Thanks! 😊
Notes: A very funny episode that I'm glad that you enjoyed! 😄
