  • Hello and welcome to the fifth episode of evolution of MS-DOS gaming.
We are in the year of 1986 now.
A lot of new games used EGA graphics by 1986, so the graphics quality was much better than in previous years.
Quite a few very good games were released back then for MS-DOS as well. Games like Ghosts 'n Goblins, Summer games 2, Where In The USA Is Carmen Sandiego, King's Quest 3, Space Quest and even the famous Tetris.
Have fun and let us know in the comments if you think of any games we might have missed.

EGA came out in 1984 but I guess about half of games didn't support it yet in 1986.

There were couple of games I found for 1985 video that used EGA, but not a lot. In this video (1986) there are more games with EGA but still quite a few that use CGA. I reckon that programmers thought that CGA market was much bigger at that time and just did the "4 colors" versions of the game.
      I'm guessing here of course.

      Yeah, was surprised as well.
But, I had Ninja on ZX Spectrum and, well, I quite liked the game :)
