In November 2019, Uganda's lost James Kunobwa, one of her best newsreaders since TV began. He began service during President Idi Amin's time and we are lucky to have spoken to him before the Lord recalled him. You would not have known how deadly it was to displease Amin and his fellow leaders and you would also not have known about Amin's usually hidden humane side. But let the late James Kunobwa tell us himself, as you subscribe to OwanaPaedia, the one-stop-centre for Uganda's history. #JamesKunobwa #IdiAmin #UgandanHistory
he was my speaker mukono and my neighbour in namagunga and also lobbed for namataba technical institute now limkokwin university may his soul rest in peace
Up to now I wish I lived in the Idi Amin Dada era coz he was such a courageous man,Owana too your so funny coz I remember you at Kabalye PTS as a Makerere student under crime prevention training. It good to watch such history coz I didn't know that Kunobwa died, may their souls rest in eternal peace i.e Idi and James.
I remember James Kunobwa, Baale Francis, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka....English news anchors at Radio Uganda....1980s and 90s....Senoga Venensio, Mukalazi Kyobe, Fred Musisi, David Matovu, Bakaluba Mukasa, Stewart Mutebi, Sulaiman Tuguragura Matoju...
Another great Ugandan Civil Servant With Patriotic Ideals like other great Journalist's like the Celebrated News Archor Baale Francis, Sports Journalists Muzungu Kangaa and Andrew Patrick Lwandaga may their Souls rest in peace.✍️🌅🕊️🌍😷🙏
Thanks for this piece of information because i personally i was not born by the time Amin took over people, so we wouldn't have known what inspired during that period without you my teacher and encyclopedia of Uganda's History....Thanks A luta continua.
Mr . Owana thank you for the show but please find us some videos for Late Capt Ssuuna Emmanuel who was the oldest military commander in NRA. Asanti sana.
Eh, Owana, I admit your God given talent in relaying our history. I subscribe. I am older than 50 years now, I am not sure the current young people bother any bit to know what took place. I encourage to document nonetheless. You should actually join the Vatican because the Catholic church especially keeps its records straight!
It goes back to history . Many Ugandans in schools were taught in English . You know the Arabs settled more in Kenya than Uganda . Then Kishahili was used mostly by soldiers and police men ( even now they used it but not so much ) in the past regimes and people used to distance themselves from the then brutal soldiers .
Museveni is just an intolerant dictator like Amin was. The only difference is Amin was Pro-Ugandans and Museveni is pro-his tribe(refugees from Rwanda).

Is it me, or were journalists more professional & disciplined then.
Very! Nowadays we are dealing with mandaazi just .
@@ThatBeeyatch today everyone is a journalist
Interesting, is this Part 1?
And you find some people who were born 30 years later assert that the Amin period was peaceful yet they didn't live through it.
Why do Ugandans despise Swahili that much? Asking from Kenya.
We have own languages and so do you! Your tie to kiswahili is political. Lose your language, lose your culture as is already evident.
Is it really Ondoga who wanted to capture power ?
Be clear there .
But you rushed shis interview!!!! It was enjoyable- naye mutuvuze speed
Kaali kayina olugezigezi ooooh
These old timers were proficient in English , not pretending but articulate
The man who attempted to overthrow Idi Amin was Brigadier Charles Arube , not Michael Ondoga.
Correct
I think we can guess who the saboteur was.
