I know that this comment is a little late, but in the USA, by far the most popular competition loads will be Winchester AA. If you can find them, give them a go, they have yet to fail me.
I would say that for the vast majority of shooters a cartridge that is comfortable to shoot and you can use consistently is as important as manufacturer. I’ve shot most of the bunch you featured and, as I don’t shoot Olympic disciplines, White Gold is my pick.
David: I am not a competition shooter, although I once shot in a trap league many years ago. Here in the U.S. I have mostly used Winchester AA shotshells (that's what we call them here). Now I shoot mostly sub gauge, 20, 28, and 410 on my own regulation skeet field. I do a lot of instructing for my nephews and their friends and wow! the empty shells really pile up. Of necessity, I reload using Alliant 20/28 powder in 20 and 28 gauges and Hodgdon Lil' Gun for the 410. For a long time new shells were unavailable (still are) and re-loading components are scarce. Cheddite primers have had some availability and I stock up on components whenever possible. I like the Claybuster plastic wads in all gauges. I have three MEC progressive loaders in order to keep up with the volume of shooting. Frankly, I wouldn't be able to shoot if I didn't re-load because the supplier's shelves are still mostly empty. Do you have supply problems in the U.K.? Do you re-load? I admire you Brits for "hanging in there" in spite of adverse laws and policies.
I’ve used Eley Superbs for the last 5 years and they are without doubt the smoothest cartridges I’ve shot. I understand what you are saying regarding Olympic discipline’s David but I personally prefer to support our British cartridge manufacturers 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

I agree plastic wads are the best ,my backbored mk38 hates fibre you can see where the gas gets past if you look down the barrel ,I use S&B super trap plaswad great shell. good review again. 👍🏻👍🏻☺☺☺☺
Hull Pro One and Pro Fibre are the best competition cartridges on the market BUT they are very expensive for a club shooter. Also, most of us aren't going to the Olympics David! I would recommend finding a cartridge that you are comfortable with and gives you confidence and stick with it. I personally don't like Fiocchi cartridges. They leave a lot of residue and the fibre wads blow out so much confetti! I have found that the Coley Gold 7.5gm 28 gram, Ian Coley branded work well for me.
I have started to use these now they are now in fibre, also hull sporting 100 ( great mid range cartridge for price) Have shot eley briefly and many types of fiocchi but started to lose faith when misfires and confetti started to fly. Stored correctly if anyone asked.
I absolutely love Fiocchi Official Rossas, if you have never tried them, do so. Difficult to find and costly but worth the effort and cost……but the one thing I’m unhappy about is that Italian 7 1/2s are actually equivalent to English 7s in shot size - so 60 fewer pellets per cartridge in a 28 gram shell than British made 7 1/2s. Harder hitting on targets though and what a smooth shooter!
I’ve shot all them cartridges on your table, for the price point and shoot ability eley Olympic blues are the best, I always shot fibre wad, never had a issue.
World wide CLEVER is number one for Olympic disciplines. CLEVER grand Italia, Bol D'or, Mirage and the rest of the CLEVER lines. But, yes RC4 and Fiocchi and B & P and Rio and S & B all sponsor Olympic shotgun sports athletes. I use S & B (Sellier and Bellot) in competition... very good shells for Olympic disciplines.
Are you sponsored by Fiocchi who from memory own RC? I may well be wrong. How could Richard Faulds win an Olympic gold with a cartridge that was only half heartedly tested? Also, I have found when game shooting that RC and Fiocchi leave more residue and are a dirtier cartridge than Gamebore. Pays your money, takes your choice or in this case, maybe, paid your money, becomes your choice?
Maybe a bit short sighted response, but if you are on the bird you are on it, irrespective of the cartridge you are using. I doubt the 12-15£ cartridge is going to make you hit more targets than the 6-7£ shell. Granted if you are at a major competition and you want to stack up all the odds, by all means use the 'better' shell, but how many shooters are at this level?? I shoot for fun, I shoot the cheapest shell, I can either them or I can't, I don't waste my money on fantasies.

It must be difficult to make a video about cartridges while being sponsored by a cartridge manufacturer. It would be excellent form to mention this in the body of the video. I like your advice to look at what competitors are using, but even then, competitors need sponsorship to make their living or keep their work affordable, so that could easily become a game of "who can sponsor everyone". Tricky subject.
White gold is definitely my top choice of cartridge..you are 100% correct about the black gold cartridge being thumpy.have to get up to the Oxford gun company and do a couple of rounds of sporting 😎👍
Not an expert but, find a cart that suits the gun and is affordable. Today I shot Litespeed and Black Gold Dark Storm, cheap vs expensive. Why waste money if the cheap cart does the job.?
Biased as ever, Ben Husthwaite - Gamebore George Digweed - Gamebore Richard Faulds - Lyalvale Express Mark Winser - Gamebore Paul Chaplow - Hull.............. to name but a few, they seen to struggle on with "they don't have to bother" cartridges.
In times like these where we, as a community, are being looked at by the public more than ever before due to what has happened in Plymouth last year and other issues that involve guns we should be doing everything we can to make ourselves look like we are doing our bit in a world where everyone wants to do their bit for the planet etc. we need to ban single use plastic wads! If everyone is using fibre wads then there can’t be an advantage or disadvantage to anyone in a competition. We are meant to be countryside folk and yet a small part of our community still think it’s acceptable to use plastic wads!? I don’t get the big deal when we are got brilliant and inexpensive alternative! BAN PLASTIC WADS!!
Thank you for this comment and I understand were you are coming from on club shoots and farms but shootings grounds that have trap & skeet they will always use Plastic and on proper grounds they can pick them up.
David you are talking absolute crap ! ,Ask G Digweed and his world class fellow shooters ,we make as good a shell as anybody most shooters are not interested in the trap and skeet disciplines.
Really not a fan of the Fiocchi cartridges I've tried in all honesty. Gamebore work well enough but are quite dirty burning/smoky. Probably the best I've found are the Eley Superb. Really fast.

Rio, Fiocchi, Winchester AA. Federal if I have to. Often here in the States it boils down to what you can find on the shelf.

Not many of us are Olympians. I like Gun Club Remington's for everyday clay's. And Remington Premier Handicap Nitro's for serious times
I'm currently using cheddite and they are fantastic I find them to have the least recoil out of everything I've tried

Shot EVO 7 1/2, GB 7/12 Trap,Fiocchi lites 8, lylevale express 71/2 at local club comp all do fine. Basically down to my own shooting

Shooting steel shot, which is demanded here, I like cartridges of Clever Mirage and Baschieri & Pellagri best.
George Digweed uses fibre wad and it doesn't seem to have held him back much.
No he doesn’t, all top clay shooters use plastic wads and would always pick plastic wads given the choice

The best ones I have shot are the Fblue Fblack. Just got some TT1’s and I think they are awful.
