When this song came out, I was way too young to understand what the lyrics were about. I just knew I liked it. Like the kids would say on American Band Stand, "it had a nice beat, and you could dance to it!" This is when the love affair began for me. I was 8½.😂💜
I was at this concert, at the Carolina Coliseum, in Columbia, SC. I remember it was a chilly night. I was in the 10th grade. Lenny White ("Peanut Butter") and Prince opened for Rick James. Prince wore a gigantic polka dot tie and leopard bikini briefs. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing. I've been hooked ever since. I miss his Royal Badness!!
Saw him on this same tour with Lenny White & Rick James in Greensboro NC and Prince upstaged Rick Jame to the degree that Rick pretty much lost his crowd. That first tour band with Dez, Fink, Lisa, Bobby & Dre were absolutely incredible! RIP the Prince that became KING!!
I was at this concert at the Carolina Coliseum with my buddy, and his two younger sisters. I was in the 10th grade. Lenny White ("Peanut Butter") and Prince opened for Rick James. Prince wore a gigantic black n white polka dot tie and leopard bikini briefs. Columbia wasn't ready for his Royal Badness. But, we "loved the hell out of it."

Lisa was not in that band - it was Gayle Chapman before Lisa Coleman on keyboards
