In some ways this is my favorite Prince jam. I knew it before I knew who he was. I always loved it. It's just so different musically... he just went places you didn't expect. I loved all of that.
Katrina Doll I agree totally. Everything up to Sign of the Times...which in its own way was great...but it signaled what was to come. But all that said, his creativity continued to show up, his genius. But it was different. Early on he was just wild. That's what made him interesting and important. To me at least.
This dude was a musical genius. He was doing all that in 1980....and evolved to become obsessed with himself and his band being better every time he performed. Think about that for a second.
This is our classic gold Prince this is the Prince l grew up listening to during my sophomore year in highschool 1980 my favorite song and my favorite year of highschool we all 💕 loved Prince back then back in the day he is sorely missed rest easy Prince we 💕 love you this is Geraldine Walker from Saginaw Michigan
HIS FIRST VERSION IS NEVER PLAYED, WHERE HE SHOWED HIS TALENT ON ALL IN STRUMENTS THE GUY LIKED DRUMS BUT FELL IN LOVE WITH GUITAR THEN THE WAH WAH, GUESS WHAT YOU CAN DO WHEN PUT INTO HANDS ON A GUY THAT THINKS THRU SOUND, NOT AIR . HE MADE SURE EVERYTHING YOU HEAR HE CAN PLAY.
I'm assuming this was the "Dirty mind" line up of the Revolution. - Prince - Andre Cymone - Bass - Dez Dickerson - guitar - Dr Fink - Keys - Lisa Coleman - Keys - Bobby Z. - Drums They were, even back then, a force of nature.
@@RastaSaiyaman She did indeed leave after this tour. Lisa started on the Dirty Mind Tour. Check out this recording from the same tour. Prince introduces the band at around 21 minutes in ruclips.net/video/cQ6WwZjkgok/видео.htmlsi=qtf51kYIXg2kM2oG
@@RastaSaiyaman I'll try this one more time and then I'm done 😆 She did indeed leave after this tour. Lisa started on the Dirty Mind Tour. About 21 minutes in.
Am I missing something? It sounds really sparse weren't there more synths? Any idea what echo he's using too? Sounds like a Memory Man rather than a Boss.
This is the shit. Just further cements how much of a baller Prince was, is and forever will be.
Andre Cymone was DRIVING that bassline 🔥🔥🔥

I mean early prince is just it. Doesn’t mean 90s onward is terrible but young P is just so special

Prince could have made a hell of mainstream hard rock album with driving guitars
2:00 Three part harmonies --- so much soul. Band were really on fire. So much groove & skill

Rarely do you get to hear a recorded version of a jam played in syncronation live......this is one of the exceptions.
Classic raw musicianship 🤘🏾
this is the groove, baby!

Actually, Gail Chapman on keys. She left the band after one tour. Lisa replaced her.
@@briandonald I looked it up, Chapman left in 1980, but it doesn't say when in 1980. So it could be either Lisa or Gail on keys here.

Always loved this Prince song
What a jam.
Cool jam out that bassline 😍
Dude was 22 years old here unreal lol
21 actually 🙂
Yep he was 22 here because had he lived he would have been 65 today. I’m assuming this was a concert after June when he turned 22!
It was April, he was indeed 21.
THANK YOU FOR THE WONDERFUL MANNA FOR BREAKFAST ✨👁️✨💫🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾✝️✝️✝️✝️☔☔

What tour did The Revolution and The Time had that famous food fight on stage?
The 1999 tour but they werent called the revolution until purple rain

Damn! Rick James had to follow this up! That’s where all the animosity came from!
Am I missing something? It sounds really sparse weren't there more synths? Any idea what echo he's using too? Sounds like a Memory Man rather than a Boss.
It’s hard to do all those synths because it’s multiple of them
At the end it gets sparse! It’s missing the strings somewhere. I can play all of this on any instrument!
Oh and sing it just like him too!
Is everybody wet?
Playback speed .75 for the FUNK
