Damnit. I'm a 60 year old Black man from Philly; I listened to this and it brought tears to my eyes! Prince was a bad Cat! This piece with Chaka is fricken magic. Reminds me of days long passed, but never forgotten. Many thanks for the post, respect.

A pro. Two true pros, and arguable GOATs at what they do. I miss having real pros like this around. Prince didn't co-sing the end like almost everyone else would, sharing that mic with Chaka *one sec, Chaka just hit that first key change*....Ok, He went with the backup singers and did pure backup. A lot of people are commenting about how kids of today have it bad bc they didn’t get to listen to great music like this. My 19 y/o had friends over a few nights ago. What was on their playlist? THIS! As well as America, Steely Dan, The Eagles, Chicago, America, Creed, STP, etc. Husband and I were sitting inside laughing and reminiscing. My kids most recent tat? Eddie Vedder hanging from the rafters haha! If it’s a treasure, they’ll find it!

Can we just sit and listen to Prince “making each and every guitar he’s ever played “TALK”. Such Finesse. Prince was tired, the industry will rob your soul of happiness, that’s why he never owned a cellular phone. Low key and very private and that’s whether you’re a celebrity or not. Some thats the only way to fine peace, solitude and solidarity. He wrote that song...Chaka and Prince were very close friends. We have lost some of the greatest legends in the music industry, but this is not our home we’re just passing through this thing called “life”. Make sweet beautiful memorable memories. Be happy. Forgive. Love. Laugh. Live because “Time” is something that you’ll never get back...
..and if you’re reading this tell someone today that you love them because one day God will need them back. Love Paula ♥️

The Song "Sweet Thing" was actually co-written by Chaka Khan and Tony Maiden, who were bandmates of the Funk and R & B band, Rufus. The song was written for Chaka's then husband, Richard Holland. Rufus originally recorded the song in 1975.
Prince learned to play the song as a teenager, being such a huge fan of the group. Of course years later and having the opportunity to work with Chaka directly several times, Prince put his stamp on the song without changing the essence. Regardless, a beautiful rendition, where Prince and his soulful musicianship are deeply missed. 💜
