When your born & bred to bake , You bake, its in the blood, it never goes away. The love of it, the smells, the feel, the sight, the sounds,, all the senses are at work . 🍞
I have been to Fortnum & Mason and it still takes my breath away. I would love to have a proper afternoon tea with a pot of Darjeeling and some walnut scones. I enjoyed the bit of history of the afternoon tea and the visit to Clifton house.
The only other chef as charismatic as Paul I’ve watched was the young Jamie Oliver. Hollywood is so comfortable in his skin and handle luxury sets so unpretentiously.
Paul, you are adorable, admirable. The energy and your love of baking is contagious. I wish I had met or known you earlier . I started baking out love but life took me to other paths........maybe some day I'm able to meet you.
Having enjoyed The Great British Cook Off Series although it did take me a minute to peg you from it! I love traveling and taking food everywhere we go so thank you for this series since Covid has kept us from traveling.
Oh I so love love London, I cant wait to come back. And of course its always a treat to have Afternoon Tea at somewhere special. Last time I was there it was at Harrods have Afternoon tea with Scones .....Yum :)
Robina Anstey I made afternoon tea a few weeks ago. I served tea from a teapot, champagne, cakes on my two tier cake stand, scones and sandwiches. Just as a lockdown treat for my husband as he loves a good afternoon tea.
Aw, some of my favorite spots. Borough Market, F&M. We were suppose to be there now visiting for a few weeks but I suppose this will have to do. Thank you!
i just love watching Paul's videos the whole day.... learned so much about baking from him that is being introduced and specially the different cultures as he tours around precious cities in the world ❤️❤️❤️
Got an F&M hamper for my aunt a couple of years ago. Next time, I will have to arrange to be there for the opening, especially if it contains a Scotch egg.
I was astonished in London how tastless bread may be, in good hotel serving a british tea experiance with italian (!) stuff. Good bread only on the small lokal market. In shop they sell only tost bread, white and taste like paper.
"London has the reputation of being the food capital of the world" ???? 😂 I've travelled extensively all over the world and I've never heard that before, ever.
Outside of fish and chips it tastes as if everything has been run through what I call the "flavor extractor" from steak to a carrot it just doesn't have much taste. No wonder they have to pile all those sauces on the tables.
Its true, no where could you find authentic cuisine from around the world. Might not have the best native food but the stuff you can find here is incredible.
The white bread sandwich needs to go on a grill and stay until both sides are brown. A little butter on the grill enhances the flavor. Try it-you will like it.
After I finished typing in my comments, I looked at the “desired” or “modified” sandwiches, I was shocked at the way they were presented. A little stacking would have helped ☺️
Paul it would be nice if you can give the how much flour , sugar. egg . butter baking powder thanks in advance . It was lovely . would like to do this this summer
Google/RUclips a recipe then have a go making em! Practise makes perfect. Then decide if you shld put the Jam or cream on first, after the butter of course! (BJCrm)
At 19:22 he touches his nose then touches one of those sandwiches. Yikes! I noticed he did this in another one of these Tonic video’s. He may be a celebrity chef, but hygiene has always been an important part of cooking. You should never touch your face and then someone else’s food. I agree about the money handling too. It’s entertaining, but I’m thinking Gordon Ramsey should give some tips he’s learned from Kitchen Nightmares.
There's an old 90s Gordon Ramsay documentary where at one point, in Gordons poshest restaurant he puts a plate down for the waiters to take and in a split second licks his thumb and wipes the edge of the plate! Another chef does it in the same kitchen later on.
I respect these lifers in the trade, but as a trained cook myself into whose brain excellent hygiene was drummed daily in culinary school, I notice cross contamination constantly on these shows, and it drives me bonkers! At least my training serves me well in this pandemic era.
Noticed that too. Happened on an episode of the Great British Bake Off when he was made a cake and gave the batter a quick lick with his finger. Mary should've given him a bop on the head: "Ew! Paul no, don't contaminate the food dear"
British afternoon tea a gift to the world
It's nice to see him smile an welcomed back to a place he worked
I watch this series time and again and never am I tired of it. Paul’s love of food and expert bake is absolute in every presentation.
this is the best food series i have seen in years

Love Paul’s baking shows, he’s not bad to look at either!
This is such a great concept for a cooking show. Paul is such an enthusiastic host and I love all the knowledge he bestows on us.
I Love this show. Guarding my sanity and keeping me in a light place.
Bless
Paul.
This one made me cry. I don’t know why?
Bravo, Paul. Welcome back!
I'm finding the show rather soothing in these... troubling times
Wow💕💕💕 Paul..that must have felt So good being back there after all that time, and the guests were in awe of seeing You...lovely!!
I hope so
Hello Maria.......I would like to know you more better if you don’t mind?
Stumbled across this series, fabulous!!! Really enjoying it!
watching from Thailand, I do love your channel, so informative, and entertaining. thanks. I do love the aspect of history you put in the journey.
I love this show. More seasons, please!!
Love u much Paul! Pray for u every day!
Hello Mary .......I would like to know you more better if you don’t mind?
Watching it on April, 18th 2021. Lovely - Paul is amazing ! Great to learn about the origins of the famous English afternoon tea.
I have been to Fortnum & Mason and it still takes my breath away. I would love to have a proper afternoon tea with a pot of Darjeeling and some walnut scones. I enjoyed the bit of history of the afternoon tea and the visit to Clifton house.
Oh dear! You said walnut scones. I’m making scones this afternoon and now I’ll have to add walnuts . Thanks! :))
As a German it makes me so happy that you appreciate rye sourdough an promote it. I've been to the UK many times, and it usually wasn't easy to find.
Its definitely becoming more common now, Aldi and Lidl are making it more common, but it was started by hipster bakeries
@Cats Cradle the M&S rye sourdough is delicious 😁
Good rye is wonderful. Mediocre rye is horrible
@@abbyabsB Thanks for that information.

Corona brought me here and this series is amazing😘😘💖💖💖
Love Paul Hollywood ❤
I completely agree with keeping all the items for tea the same size! 1 or 2 bites each , packed with flavor is all you need.
I see what they were doing before for the presentation was much prettier.
Having enjoyed The Great British Cook Off Series although it did take me a minute to peg you from it! I love traveling and taking food everywhere we go so thank you for this series since Covid has kept us from traveling.
Oh my those pastries are beautifull and sir so are you loved this video
Wow his eyes. Beautiful
Spirit of exploration
The smell and the taste of the bread's gorgeousness

So fun to see Paul truly in his element! My favorite episode of City Bakes for sure! :)
Hello Jennifer, how are you doing as your family?
Dragi Paul mogu reci samo veliko BRAVOOOOOO.💯💕
It might have been posted in 2020 but the original series was Spring 2016. So ages before COVID and distancing!
And before his divorce. LOL He still has his wedding ring on.
@@cherylroller957 hello Cheryl ,how are you doing and your family?
Its hard to beat afternoon tea made of classic British cakes, tiny bite sized sannies and scones. Tks Paul. Cheers from Tampa, FL

I love to follow your food adventures, amazing videos! 👌💕🌼
Every so often my mum would make us scotch eggs for school lunch, it was a seriously tasty and very filling lunch, healthy too.
As a Texan first time hearing of Fortnum & Mason, my jaw is on the floor. I want to go to there
Its truly amazing. I'm American too and i went to London. It was almost incomprehensible how beautiful it was.
If you do manage to get there go first thing in the morning as it gets packed with tourists later :-)
You can order things from them like jellies, tea, and cookies.
I was there last autumn; you should go there. Fortnum & Mason is awesome.
To Be Honest why would you say that?
I like watching you and the baking
I love it!
What a find! So fun and inspiring 🙌🏻👏🏻
Aw, some of my favorite spots. Borough Market, F&M. We were suppose to be there now visiting for a few weeks but I suppose this will have to do. Thank you!
My favorite places too! Love Maria at Borough Market... my go to for breakfast at least once every visit from the States! I miss London 💔❤️
I love Paul Liverpool accent.
like how he spends the first half of the video talking about high quality bread "can't find this in the shops" then uses normal Warburtons haha
i just love watching Paul's videos the whole day.... learned so much about baking from him that is being introduced and specially the different cultures as he tours around precious cities in the world ❤️❤️❤️
I'd be happy to go without breakfast and lunch to indulge in a really good afternoon tea. I'm enjoying that Scotch egg vicariously.
My mom used to make scotch eggs and they were fabulous!
Me encanta tu programa . ❤💋
Beautiful!
Hi patti.......I would like to know you more better if you don’t mind?
Definitely adding walnuts to my scones next time!
Thankyou for sharing...Paul.
17:22 Totally BRILLIANT! Now I know how to pronounce "CLIVEDEN"and
"SCONES". 🧐💂♂️
( Cliff- ton &

Baby Paul was fiiiiiine as hell that man is like a beautiful aged whiskey. He just gets more full bodied and flavorful.
Amen.

You are precious and I need someone like you in my life. You I bet are such a great person to be around!
so fine that he left his wife of 20 years and his family when the fame got to his head :)
beautiful on the outside but I guess rotten on the inside
Sourdough has been around since leavened bread was invented. All the various types of yeast derive from either sourdough starters or brewing.
I wish this was (re)uploaded in 1080p like the rest of the City Bakes episodes...
I used to work a market for a bakery and it is so stressful. people really want that bread and bakers really want it sold hahaha

Warburtons Bread! 18:37. Not to mention you can also see that they are about to expire!!!
How much are they charging for those sandwiches!
Well mugging off the rich so they pay for yellow sticker bread is hilarous
Hi can I get the recipe for scones please thank you very much 😊
"London has the reputation of being the food capital of the world" ???? 😂 I've travelled extensively all over the world and I've never heard that before, ever.
They mean Tokyo.
Exactly! I was shock about that. Neve heard that either and I travelled and read a lot. Zaida Puerto Rico

I stay in London for 5 weeks, I only had good food in the high end restaurants but the rest of the places only have either greasy or bland food
Hey Paul, little individual Battenburg squares there, got some inspiration from your Bake Off judging days eh? Enwezor, season 5?
The white bread sandwich needs to go on a grill and stay until both sides are brown. A little butter on the grill enhances the flavor. Try it-you will like it.
I want to go there. There is where I want to go.
6:24 - I had to stop and rewind that part ahaha
Yes, after downsize the sandwich, its really look stunning serve at top end restaurant
Love watching him. But it’s his accent is even better.
Michael Ellard that’s a Merseyside accent (near Liverpool)
I love Paul. And this video shows a photo of a young Paul. Handsome then. Handsome now. 🤩
Greetings Mr Hollywood, Love your perfect food 👑
I want to find the shop place in london where Paul was
like the scones
Mmmmm I want to try it all....
All I can think of is where did Paul's blue bandaid go???? He had it on while he was helping 8:30 and by 8:37 it's gone.
I noticed that too!!! Quite gross
@@OceanLover1188 Indeed. It's almost like there exists a collective amnesia re: editing

Paul so glad to witness your liberation from British baking show
Does Paul have ancookbook

Can I have the cute scones recipe somewhere?

Also called "The Recipe"....
RUclips just interrupted Paul talking about bacon butties with an ad from Kevin Bacon. Bakin', bacon...sure, says the algorithm. That's a match.
I miss my British scones so badly!
Hello Annie......I would like to know you more better if you don’t mind?
I simply love scones, clotted cream, strawberry jam, without nuts and raisins please.
Tea - rrific stuff ☕
The problem of these bake cooking programs is its not mentioned how if you've only got a halogen oven to cook as to how to recreate the dish/cake?!
23 year old Paul and current Paul are both so dam handsome
Warburtons Sliced bread for country house hotel afternoon tea at 18.39, Pinnacle of British baking .... Attention to detail
Brilliant
1:46-1:49 the London population was 8.173 million (UK Census 27/3/2011).
220 is equal to what temp in Faranheit?
428
Susan Anderson *google is your friend*
For scones 425
Formula is:
Fahrenheit =(Celsius x 9/5) + 32
Wow 15 years it was ... everything has evolved or should have 😜
I'm feeling limp and low. And it's only 10 am.
I haven’t had white bread in 10 years!
Educational
The sandwiches were not mistakes ... it was just bold British 😄
