      @AA K Yes that's what I am saying, they do it for the love of their cultures and traditions but they know well themselves they can't compete with bakery companies producing the same stuff and to be honest, just how long can this go on? Probably not too near but perhaps not too far in the future, who knows?

      I a case like this, I kinda see it more as being “stubborn” rather than “tradition”
      Handmade =/= Tradition.
      They are fully aware that their only real source of income is tourism, and that making their product itself would never survive on it’s own simply because a more effective production method had been discovered.
      Compare this technique to “hand rolling it out” before the throwing technique they used to hand roll out the middle, but it took much longer to accomplish than the throwing technique.
      You can say that the hand rolling was tradition, and culturally significant, but was replaced when a better technique was discovered.

    • @godsama959
      @godsama959 4 года назад +7

      The thing is, the traditional handmade is not necessarily better than the industrial approach. A master can feed a street, a factory can feed a country. Many of the processes involved can be boosted by an industrial engineer, with little to no loss to quality. He could be doing a demo version while having a small production facility to produce for larger distribution.

      @SaltedCuredBovineSticks LLC But why do we need the outdated methods to still be in use? I completely agree that it's important to preserve culture, but this video right here is forever cementing this man and his families culture and ancestry. Not only that, but it has been broadcasted to 750,000 people, way more than it would be otherwise. Making the food industrially keeps the market and traditional food alive, and making videos, books, movies, or museums help to keep the culture of making it alive.

      Greek families are all like these. We stay close to our parents and we welcome them in our homes when they get really old and need help in their daily routine. Many Mediterranean countries are like these. I know italians and Turks are also like that

      Y'all mobbing on this comment, you better wait till you turn 80+ and you hopefully have half of the motivation and strength (physical and mental) the man at this age has in order to be able to stand on his feet and work after all these years of hard work. I guess you miss the point of the comment, otherwise you wouldn't be like "speak for yourself, you're weak, I'm strong" blah, blah..
