GTA V has a car based after this car, but named differently. The Dewbauchee Massacro is one of the best sports cars in it's class. My character is sitting in one now. Just imagine driving a sports car that looks very similar to this car. Think about that for a moment.

6.0 V12 needs to be pushing above 600hp. Come on Aston, make a new engine already, this is the same old db9 engine with a few tweaks.
Agree on this one. 565HP is a lot but not enough for its V12 6-liter engine.

Aston Martin is not about the speed, its about the elegance. Like they said, this is not a race car and therefore it doesnt need a new engine.
***** Right and wrong. AM is about class, beauty, design, looks and quality of materials. But their cars are definitely for racing or at least you expect them to have powerful engines for what they cost. Just like Ferraris, they aren't track cars either but have better performing engines. What's wrong with taking more HP out of a V12 6-liter? I think 600HP would be the minimum. But yeah at the end of the day they're not meant to be raced.
AND the chassis is a bit out dated as well. I think Aston Martin has to redesign one of their next cars from ground up.

That red vanquish is so beautiful
0-60 in 4.1 seconds? Not bad for a car that looks much heavier than a Porsche 911 C4 with a 3.8L V6 engine. I've always loved the sound of the AM V12 ROARING!! to life, idling and accelerating. On par with the sound a of Ferrari 458 and maybe more exciting. IMHO. Not bad for a GT car.
Having said that I'd love to see AM tune their V12 to put out a sub 3.0 second car...not that i really place value on 0-60 times. I feel this spec means almost nothing on the street. But if AM produced a V12 GT car that could do 3.0 I feel we could still "feel" the added performance still.
In the end it's about the "driving experience" and AM already has that nailed. From the time they introduced the DB9. A shame they stopped putting out the DBS. Loved the rear light grouping the best. More so than the Vanquish. Good thing there's still the DB9.

As the world of performance cars is slowly being overtaken by forced induction, I am really starting to gain a new appreciation for these aston martins. Looks like the perfect blend of naturally aspirated goodness, responsive handling, and sexy styling inside and out. I see why these are worth the money now, they have a certain purity to them which is being lost among many modern sports cars.

The best thing about Aston Martin is not their beauty or sound, but their DEPRECIATION! These $330k Vanquishes can now be bought for $190k with just 5k miles.
Not the fastest 0-60 but after that it is very strong, seen them whoop enzos mc laren 12cs etc around a track. Impressed the heck out of me.
An Aston Martin just commands your attention is a way that so much more classy than a ferrari or lamborghini ever will!

I wouldn't say high-rev torque is a bad thing - just means that if you want to drive fast, you have to drive with intent - high revs, right gear, glorious roaring V12; makes you a better driver ;)

the one 77 IS known as the best Aston Martin ever produced. they wanted to release it later but they had to release it a little early as cars which consume massive amounts of fuel wouldn't be legal later on due to the upcoming underground oils crisis(as we barely have any left now). That's also why only 77 of these were made. apparently some crazy Saudi dude bought 10 of them.
At the speeds these exotics play in, the differences between them IMO is academic but not something most drivers will notice. Just like on any given day, an identical car will perform different, but still close enough to not be an issue. But what does matter is how they FEEL and LOOK. And these things IMO are what tends to drive (no pun intended) customers to one over the other. The Aston Martin Vanquish is truly a world class GT... designed to do what GTs are actually supposed to do (as opposed to simply calling a car a GT because it goes fast). They are meant to TOUR. And this car allows that in comfort, style, and SPEED. It is a car meant to drive, and not simply "take out to impress now and again". Bravo... and Cheers.
Gorgeous car. Not sure that I would care about the lack of torque or that an F12 is so much quicker. The Vanquish is old-school and beautiful.

It looks a bit like a Tesla S but with 2 doors fewer, 300 hp less and 1 second slower 0-60. For double the price.... Where do I sign up for one?
You mean Tesla looks like a cheap knock-off with an inferior interior, lower quality materials and less attention detail not to mention its no where near as beautiful as the Aston.

Well, maybe the Tesla has an inferior interior but I think it's nicer. I'm not a huge fan of cow peelings. Very heavy. Too hot in the Australian summer. But if you are, then I'm sure that there must be a coach trimmer somewhere who would cover the inside of a Tesla with lots of cow peelings for you for a lot less than the price difference between the two cars. As for lower quality materials, that's just wrong. Aircraft alloy vs Aircraft alloy with carbon farkles. They have their strengths and weaknesses, but one isn't "lower quality" than the other. Carbon is lighter and more rigid, Which is good in one sense, particularly for race cars. But it's more brittle, which is bad for road cars. To go for carbon (saving maybe 50kg at the cost of brittleness) is a strange design choice when you then fill the inside of the car up with 50 kg of leather. The designer seems a bit confused. Is it a race car or a road car? Maybe it's just a "LOOK, I've got more money than sense" car?
Oh, and they say in the video "Ahhrgh, it just needs more torque". No wonder it always feels like it's in the wrong gear, when it only makes 457 lb ft. The Model S is stomping down 864 lb ft and averaging 100 lb ft more than the aston's peak over the whole rev range.
I just can't see why anyone would lay down that much dosh on something that's frustrating to drive in the twisty road environment it's meant for. Apparently that's the price you have to pay for the "smoothness" and "linear torque". Of course the torque is far less linear than an electric motor and the smoothness just doesn't compare. The Tesla with one gear and an electric motor is much much much smoother. If you want a Grand Tourer, get a Tesla with nearly double the torque and double the power that comes on instantly for half the price.
Well then there's the prestige of owning an Aston Martin. Pussy magnet, attention etc. the Tesla Model S is the second most sold car of the year 2014 in my country (Norway) only being beaten by VW Golf. Teslas here are more common than a Ford or Toyota..
How many Aston Martins are there in all of Norway? Well between 1-5 are sold per year on average.. you do the math. I would much rather own a unique and prestigious car that only 0.001% of the population has than drive the EXACT same car my neighbours and a huge chunk of the population drives.

The interior really needs a kick up its a***! The steering wheel is dated, all the switches look cheap. The layout is not up to scratch for a car with such pedigree and a price tag. No one can argue about the exterior styling, but the interior, specially the dash and the centre console is not worth the money.
Love the Vanquish. One question, in the description, why is it "Vanquish's" and not the plural, "Vanquishes?"

Two useless rear seats that'll never be used. Aston Martin should ditch the rear seats and have a bigger boot.
Or make those rear seats a shelve for luggage, a sort of 2+0.

F12 is a way better can in any aspect, but the Aston just looks like the best thing ever.
For me there is only one drawback. I'm 6'4" and the cockpit's leg room is about 3" too short for a comfortable touring car. However, no drawback around town and on short drives where its name is descriptive.

It's a steam locomotive hearse. They think they are entitled to remain stagnant, that their heritage will matter but that's the mistake that will kill them.
As Tesla expands their model range, several car makers will be killed off if they don't snap out of their stagnation in a major way. If you think technological progress is a fad, you will die.

I always prefer NA over forced induction. But for Grand Tourer cars like this Vanquish, a low-pressure turbo to help the torque at low-end rev won't hurt.

Let's be honest guys. The sound is great but the numbers are disappointing. How can a supercar with a big name is not faster than a saloon car Audi rs7 in everything ????. "Aston Martin" it's really disappointing coz ur almost in the same league as Lambos. So what what happened to the speed coz a supercar is all about speed ? Lamborghini Avantador does 0-62mph in less than 3sec and R8 plus in about 3.5sec even a Station Wagon Audi Rs6 does 0-62mph in 3.9 sec and has a top speed of 189mph out of a 4.0 litre engine not 6.0 litre engine .
You buy a Ferrari because it's a Ferrari, you buy an Lambo because it's mental & you buy an Aston because it's beautiful. If you buy a supercar because of it's numbers, then you are missing the point of the supercar, they are something you love to want, not something you buy using excel and a calculator.
Aston Martin are Luxury cars just like Bentley and Bugatti.
And to say that it is not faster than an RS7 and to imply that this means it is a lesser car is just ridiculous.
Rubbish car, engine is slooooww and gearbox is crap . 300k euros for a 11yo platform and for a brand who's begging Mercedes Benz Amg for engines? Sorry for that money you spend you get less than a 100k Porche. Dont even talk about what Lamborghini you can get for that money.

Car reviewers are definitely spoiled these days. You can tell when they moan about a 6.0 V12 engine not having enough grunt and needing to be revved... Seriously, the whole point of cars like this is the DEMAND you DRIVE them! They require a degree of skill to extract the best and reward when you get it right. Why would you want a car that does everything for you?
Geez some people are just lazy/spoiled. I'd never tired of stirring up the V12 to make it scream!

The thing about Astons is you only pay for the way it looks and the name .. performance wise it is poor (comparing what you can get for the same price) but once again all aston owners I know don't care about performance, including me :p
You pay for the luxury such as a beautiful drive. That is smooth and comfortable and fast.
There are fast cars on the market but they sacrifice their luxury in the name of speed. And the thing is that 99% of people that buy these cars do not really push them to the limit.
I find it funny that people who mention performance (not you) simply do not know what they are talking about.

I can easily spend one entire day looking to an Aston Martin and I will not get tired to look at it. They are absolutely gorgeous. They may not be as fast as a Porsche or a Mercedes AMG but they are beautiful.

It's like the Jag F-type, very heavy. When Chris Harris compared it with 911 and another Aston Martin, both the British cars were much heavier than 911. He asked: Is British aluminum heavier than German aluminum? I wonder why? I mean, F-type is a new car with a modern design and they should have been able to make it lighter. Now this Vanquish which is a small car and with all the Carbon but still so heavy?
Fast Er I think the F-Type Coupé was based on the reinforced Cabriolet, in order to save costs, which may be the reason why it weighs more than a larger Mercedes-AMG GT-S. The Vanquish is much larger than both.
Companies like Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes (AMG GT), Audi (Lamborghini) can afford more dedicated sports platforms and engines. They also do racing extensively.
Jaguar had to base their F-Type probably on a shortened XK. And Aston, in 2004 also under Ford ownership, probably also based the DB-9 on the XK, which in turn underpinned the Vanquish.
Power and weight specs have moved on since then.
Aston Martin is a small independent company, but with the support from Daimler, the DB-11 should get better technology.

Anyone know if I can fit the one 77 steering wheel from the vanquish in my vantage.
On the videos it appears that the stitching on the door panels (and the entire lining itself) doesn't line up with the stitching in the area behind the drivers seat. Are these preproduction models? Or is that 'character'? Or is it the effect of the camera? You'd expect something like that in a car that's 1% of this price...
Maybe it's the camera angle or something like that.
