I as the owner of Wessex Tubas have just come across this video. Pleased you like the helicon! For you mentioning the stuffy 4th valve, I have not heard of this before, so think it may be a valve alignment issue, and would suggest you get that checked out. For the unsoldered stays, sorry to hear that. It is not common, I would say less than 1% of horns sold ever have anything come unsoldered - but not good if the one you bought. We are always aiming to improve the quality further and it is really interesting to me to hear customers feedback, so we can incorporate improvements.
thanks for the wonderful video! I'm playing the sousa and concert tuba right now and trying to get a good feel about all the different options and workings of the instrument. a great watch!
I wonder if a brass repair tech could find a solution to that 4th valve response issue. Maybe it's only an alignment thing, but I see what you mean about the initial bends in the tubing from the casing. Maybe it's a valve alignment issue.
I'd like to say that you never put a sousaphone not a helicon on the bow on the ground. Only on your foot. It wears a hole in the bottom of the tubing. If you wanna set it down you have to put it down on its side, valves facing up of course. The slides shouldn't hit the ground if on your foot, where it needs to rest

Seriously thinking of buying this horn. Had planned on getting a sousaphone but this seems like a winner

Great review!
