Neither. It's a new helicon. This is the instrument Sousa took and had the bell changed on. Most companies quit making them around 1920 but Wessex started making them again a couple years ago in BBb, Eb and F.

So how is the playability of the new helicon? Pitch, intonation etc? It's nice to see a new piston valve helicon on the market.
It's not too bad. Nothing outside of normal parameters. I definitely enjoy playing it.
