Dive deep into the creative minds behind FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH in this short film created as part of the exciting new collab between sports car manufacturer Porsche AG and SQUARE ENIX.
Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura, Producer Yoshinori Kitase and Director Naoki Hamaguchi hit the streets of Tokyo in two iconic Porsche 911s - a classic model from 1997, launched the same year as the original FINAL FANTASY VII, and the latest model from 2024 - to reflect on the legacy of FINAL FANTASY VII and what it was like to dream this groundbreaking RPG into existence with no existing roads to follow.

The collab is themed around life changing dreams that came true. The dream of the Porsche and that Final Fantasy was the dream that saved Square (VII being probably the most well received then and personally now)
I really hope to see Cloud driving a Porsche in some Rebirth DLC or the next part.
I think the 959 fits really well with the FF VII retro futuristic style.

FF7 isn't really anti capatilist though. There isn't a free market, and Shinra has functionally become the government of Midgar. For the game to be anti-capitalist, there would have to be multiple corporations vying for supremacy.

First they partnered with Nissan for XIII, then with Audi for XV, and now Porsche for VII Rebirth. I honestly thought that I was an outlier by being an avid sim racer who is also a FF fan, but Square seem to know that there is such a demographic overlap 😂
but again, FFXIII with Nissan is more like "ad campaign", but FFXV with Audi is more proper collab.... but this one? Extremely confusing, like I watching the whole video still like... what da hell the collab will be? 911 in limited color? or 911 in the game as well? or what??
Remember, Audi with FFXV is I think the most proper collab. The car is real, also you can see it in the Kingsglaive movie as well, there even story how the car is represented as the gift from king to Noctis. It was really well put collab. Even you can see it the movie quite often. But this one? not really know what the tail in the end between them... But, my best guess so far is a custom paint job & interior for Porchse 911 in real life, and the user likely Rufus Shinra... as the car is luxurious car with white paint job, which match Rufus concept really well; and the car style is matching with FFVII steam punk design as well...

It's just comparing between the two 911 models from 1997 and 2024, and FFVII in 1997 and FFVII Rebirth in 2024, and how similar they are in terms of innovation and other things they talked about in the video. It's most likely because Porsche paid them a lot for this. There's no in-game 911 or a limited edition 911.
It's all leading up to a Racing Lagoon remake.

Just like Final Fantasy, Porsche was at it's last leg before the 911 became iconic and made the brand what it is today. It's hard to imagine that this Porsche 993 came out around the same time as FF7 and what it was like at the time. Honestly I think it's a very suiting comparison shooting this in Tokyo too, but maybe this backstory isn't for everyone.

For this same reason, I wonder what fuel source the Tiny Bronco and Highwind use since it makes no sense that, in their fight to save the planet, they use mako-fueled vehicles to get around. I'm still waiting for a good explanation for this
