51:14 “Do you think people like to be in the grocery store looking at people in the grocery store in the magazines?”
Zooey Deschanel is secretly a genius.
OMG I am overjoyed to see Martha Plimpton there. Love her so much.
After the fart admittance at the very beginning it would have been funny if all of them said I can't top that and they ran out and drove away fast out of the parking lot.
Martha is so cool
I absolutely love Christina Applegate just adore her and love that she's still working😊😊😊
@@Holly-hi1sm The scene when Judy admits to her that she was the one that killed her husband!
The reaction from Christina gave me goosebumps. It was so subtle and so real. You can almost see her character's thoughts forming in her head.
She's amazing.
Hoping for another season.
"A weird confidence in being terrible." Zooey, you know who I am to the core.
Martha Plimpton is such a laid back, hilarious broad. And she's had this grizzled, dry sense of humor and wit, since childhood -- she's a very smart gal. So watch "Raising Hope", everyone. We need to keep Martha around. She tells us what we need to hear.
This was incredible on so many levels. Just a genuine look at their personalities and almost felt like we were invited over one of their brunch dates. Loved some of the points they made too
Laura made a really good point about the popularity of reality TV making it OK for producers & writers to create more flawed & interesting characters, which is great for actors.
I don't watch "reality" shows but i agree
Julia is a queen. She's so intelligent and just naturally hilarious. I just love her!
I think some people make a very false assumption that 'comedy actresses' must be hilarious people in their every day lives... just because they're not cracking jokes all the way through and actually taking the conversation seriously does not mean that they are not wonderful at doing 'comedy', it's a whole different genre of comedy!
god bless laura dern. She's such a ray of light in every panel she's in and everyone seems to love her as well. Love you Ellie Sattler!
Christina Applegate is a goddess!
I couldn't take my eyes off from Christina Applegate
Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
I understand everyone pointing out Zooey's "awkwardness", but i dont think she was weird nor awkward by any means. I feel like is just her personality, we usually expect actors/actresses to be outgoing and talkative, but not everyone is like that. Many people fit into a group very easily while others need to develop some sort of connection or relation with others, in order to feel confortable enough to speak their minds.
Loved this group interview, my favorite along with the one with Lupita, Oprah, Emma, Julia..
Yea...but if thats your style don't do this style of interview
I forgot the interviewer was there till she said something at 43 minutes haha
The interviewer was busy fondling the fat camera man's breasts. But I digress.
I like Julia Louis-Drefus the best. :).
I forgot how much I LOVE Martha Plimpton. No wonder talk shows loved her as a guest. I remember David Letterman would rave about her.
Julie Bowen has the least to say but talks the most.
Privileged white women in a nutshell
I like Julie Bowen better than Zoe Deshanel
I like Julia Louis-Drefus the best. :).
By far the BEST Roundtable EVER! I could watch them chat for hours.
Good on THR for giving us more than a superficial 30 second interview - I love the discussion of substantive issues here. It's great to see women (especially of various ages) talking about the challenges they face in comedy on a meaningful and insightful level. I hope you do this again for this year's nominees!
Well I came here to listen to Martha Plimpton. I find her to be an extraordinary woman. Love her to bits
Where was Fey and Poehler!
Hannah Taylor And Amy Schumer, Ellen Degeneres :(
***** But she HAS been, so I think she'd qualify
+SomeNiceMovies this is a round table of women who were up for a prime time Emmy in 2012 Degeneres qualifies for a daytime Emmy
I like Ellen but she doesn't really make me laugh anymore. It just feels like she's doing shtick and not really having a conversation like how I felt she used to. Doesn't seem real and kinda fake nowadays. I still support her, being a lesbian, gay rights and all that but I don't laugh at her stuff like I used to. Ehh. *shrug* =p
Amy Schumer is just sex jokes lmao
Really enjoyed just about all the ladies. Julia, Martha, Christina, JANE haha. Such funny, talented women. They really deserve their success, I'm happy for them. =)
ExireHG Try Ellen's "Seriously, I'm kidding" audiobook. I laugh more at that than other stuff she does, try it out :)
This whole thing is amazing. Amazing and insightful thoughts by comedy actresses who are all killing it in their field.
i love you Julia Louis-Dreyfus, you are fantastic
This was such a fun conversation. All these women are lovely.
Julia Loui-Dreyfus is looking at Zooey Deschanel with such compassion, like Zoey a 15 year old virgin 😂
Yeah...I caught the sympathetic looks from her--not in a bad way, but like, "So sweet...so young..."
shout out to Christina Applegate!
This was really great to watch, thanks for uploading!
I love all of these women, all hilarious, all amazing, but really love Zoey in this, even though she was cut off several times and was super modest, she still kept it together.. love it.
christina applegate stunning
I really like these discussions. I find them interesting, and I relate to a lot of what they say even though I'm in a different line of work.
jane blamed a fart on an extra... i love that lol
What an astonishingly talented group of women, all in one room.
This actually turned out to be pretty insightful.
Martha Plimpton has always been awesome! I love this round table episode. More interactions and chemistry than this year.
I've noticed in more than one episode that this show's questions are sexist. The first question to these brilliant women was "What has been your most embarrassing moment ever as an actor?" Compare that to the first question of the show, "Top Actors Discuss Oscar Roles," (Dec 2014) with Benedict Cumberbatch, which was "Some of you have played real life characters, what most surprised you about the character you played?"
+Constance Huntsman I noticed this as well. These ladies are all amazing, wonderful, talented and phenomenal actresses, but are always the subject of sexism by male directors, which is very sad.
I see your point, the questioning was beyond weak. The interviewers obviously knew shit all
+C@ndidK omg and zooey deshanel that made me laugh out loud
+Constance Huntsman Watch the male comedian roundtable. They ask very similar questions. This isn't a question of sexism but of the acting background of the guests. LPT, don't go into videos looking for reasons to be offended, and maybe you'll get offended less.
Constance Huntsman I fail to see the sexism in what you have outlined. Care to explain it to me?
Zoey has beautiful eyes.
Where is Kaitlyn Olsen from its always sunny??? Sweet Dee rocks it.
It would have been nice if they introduced the panel at the . I know Julia and Jane...the others are doubtful.
Thanks for sharing this roundtable. Shoutout to the wardrobe, makeup and set designers!
love that they covered some real topics, but honestly i could hardly hear the conversation over Julie Bowen's triceps
I adore every single actress on this panel.
Chrstina Applegate's career at this point astounds me! Her work in comedies and many don't realize, dramatic roles should have catapulted her to major star status at point. But despite her talent she seems to have made alot of bad choices and I don't think has the best representation! Her to appearances on Saturday Night Live in two separate decades proved she is a natural comic talent! She should host every year but unfortunately Lauren Michaels made that show into an MTV flavor of the minute, vehicle plug fest! Applegate also seems to be aging gracefully and to be honest looks less surgically enhanced then someone like Julie Bowen!
+Adam W She was on FRIENDS for one episode.I never laughed more with other guests.I like her :)
Her career should have amounted to alot more!
That Martha sitting next to Dreyfus is funny even without trying!!
I love that woman!!
Sans the Katy Perry and in my opinion Krysten Ritter comparisons, Zooey Deschanel has an incredible natural beauty!
I honestly love how shy Zooey is. It's very charming.
everybody has there own opinions of who should'v been on this. NO ONE HAS MENTIONED SWEET DEE REYNOLDS!
I love that the journalists are barely asking questions at some point, like "oh we'll just let them talk, whatever right?"
Where is Kaitlyn Olsen from its always sunny??? Sweet Dee rocks it.
Thoroughly enjoyed this! Laura Dern and Martha Plimpton were my favs!
Tina fey, Amy poehler, Julia Dreyfus. Would've sufficed.
and don't forget Chaka Kahn.
I love that they took over the interview.
Laura Dern looks so sweet
Utterly fantastic. This was both hilarious and enlightening. Not to mention they're all quite beautiful.
Christina Applegate is still smoking. Wow!
wow bruh you think white people care about you
@@itayig.kahari393 you’re disgusting
Martha spoke SO much truth in this. She's hilarious and brilliant. Love all these ladies.
The new JC Penny Spring Collection? Lol love these ladies - they're all funny, but it is hard to be out on the spot
I loved that they says ACTORS not ACTRESSES
zooey is so awkward its cute
Laura Dern looks so sweet
These women are so fabulous. I so love Julia. So funny! ❤❤❤
I'd get all awkward life Zooey haha
The more people talk about Zooey, the more brilliant I realize she is.
There's another name for an uncensored interview Interview.
Martha Plimpton is sooooo smart. Everything she says is well thought out.
Im sorry but why is julie bowen there.? How about wanda sykes instead.? Or like amy freakin poehler?
One of the best THR interviews I've seen. Just a great candid discussion.
This was a frustrating and disappointing interview. Who starts an interview with a question about most embarrassing moments? What is this, Teen Magazine?? (And let's be real - would she have asked the same question of men?) I was really disappointed with the quality of questions, which is funny considering that all of the women talked about that very issue. There was an awkward formality about this interview that was really irksome. I feel like The Hollywood Reporter should have aimed for a different vibe - maybe some comfortable seating, for one!
Just as I expected, HR's male version of this interview did NOT start with the ridiculous question about embarrassing moments. The questions on the whole were better.
@@laurad3145 They've gotten better over the years, but, to your point, they did ask this very question to male comedians in 2016. You should watch that one. There are pretty bad, as in, hilarious. Although plaster-waxing is up there with the worst of them...
I feel like women in general are more anxious about sharing these stories, even when they're mild, perhaps because they are judged more, and possibly because it actually affects, or used to affect their careers in a more direct and negative manner than men. So it's understandable that it would create this air of 'uncomfortableness', definitely a bad choice to *open* an interview with a question like this.
Laura Dern?
Agreed. Would they ask men the same questions? To be immediately self deprecating, when they are all amazing successful, talented, ambitious, savvy, bad ass business women actresses? I love this forum, but this is maddening.
@@kathymccafferty3 they actually usually do. these are their usual questions
All wonderful talented ladies. Was lovely to watch this and I as a fan think it sux when people put you down, or write false stories on you. Keep on doing what your doing :)
This would have been way better and perhaps funnier if they had done it at the actual ROUND table, like they normally do it.
This was an older video..
omgad this was a really good interview they were all so brilliant
Face palming at how insanely gorgeous Zooey is. Blows my mind.
I would "kill" for at least four of the dresses being worn at this Roundtable! Gorgeous. Love these women too.
What the hell is the whole flower theme going on here? Some of these dresses are nice, but who dressed them.
gutz1981 -Its like they got an invitation to a baby shower
the tension between Christina and Julie is weird.. super uncomfortable to watch.
What's up with people saying this is racist? There are lots of comedy actresses of all colors who aren't present. There is no indication why these specific ones were there or who was invited - couldv'e been all about scheduling.
I never said it was racist, what I had originally said (albeit not verbatim) was that it sucks not seeing any women of color in a group of what is supposed to be A-level comedic actresses. By saying "any women of color", I am not only saying African American, but all other minorities, which leads me to Rebecca's comment. I agree with Rebecca Cares comment "Why couldn't they get an Asian American woman or a South American woman or just get a single different woman from every populated continent?", which I hope was supposed to be interpreted as being rhetorical, sardonic, and a bit outlandish on purpose; oooobviously they wouldn't get a person to represent all the different cultures out there! If that were insanely possible though, it would be exasperating and annoyingly/unnecessarily P.C. And maaaad crowded. But I will definitely stand by my personal opinion that it would be great to view more of these "round table/panel" style interviews with a bit more diversity. Like Paul Provenza's "The Green Room" for example.
people just want to play the race card at every level, and it's becoming played out and draining because in the same sentence they require we overlook racesand be colorblind, they acquire someone get a position strictly based on their coloring. Funny how I as a minority can embrace all talented folks, regardless of their shade. Some minority folks are just yearning to moan and groan. Important to overlook their little hissy fits and appreciate this fantastic video for what it is.
All race talk aside, this video isn't very good to begin with. An ethnic background isn't something you can use like a light switch. The world will never be colorblind, which is good because that term connotes a lack if true knowledge about that "color" (ethnicity). Being open to other cultural backgrounds is important to human development, such as ethical and cultural awareness; but even past all this, I still most definitely stand by my initial sentiments: that I would have liked to see some diversity in this video. And yeah no shit the video is already up and thriving, but hey they're my opinions.
i like that they weren't prepped too much. the flow of the conversation was more natural and impromptu :)
oooh everyone looks so lovely!!! :D
I 100% agree!! everything is better with Amy Pholer !
Zooey is so awkwardly uncomfortable .. I'm here in front of my screen like "damn you're an actress, why are you looking down all the time?"
I like her on new girl I think she's doing a good job
very inclusive THR
Christinaaaaaa Applegateeeeeeeee.................. =)
Julia louie dreyfuss my favvvvvvvvvv!!!
like like like - zooey's dictionary
THANK YOU. exactly. i'm surprised more people don't get this.
I'm missing Amy Poehler and Tina Fey here D':
Gosh! Julie looks so beautiful!
Love martha plimpton
All the great ladies here love you all
So many blonde moments in one video
Damn. It looked like Christina had some WORDS to say to Julie in response to her comments about paparazzo at 49:45.
It turned into a bitching match at the end. The moderators completely lost control. Then at the end the guy asks the very question that everyone already said they hated. I'm paraphrasing but essentially he asked "what would you be doing if you weren't acting?". So clearly he wasn't paying any attention.
If you watch two or three of these, the "moderators" literally ask the same questions to each table. It's more of a checklist and less of a conversational prompt. I feel like I've heard the same conversation over and over, with different voices saying the exact same things (watched 3 so far). A round table is intended to be a conversation that is only bridged when necessary by the moderator, this is...not a round table. However, the guests that are featured are wonderful so that's why I'll keep listening to this broken record haha.
I love that the conversation started with a fart joke, lol, good ol' Jane.
It looks like Christina Applegate doesn't like Julie Bowen. Especially when Julie Bowen said gibberish to replace Japanese talking and when she told the suicide joke.
I picked up on that too
Ed O'Neil probably likes Bowen better and Applegate is jealous....that's not true that's just the first connection that I could think of that they have.
Because Julie Bowen is a total bitch.
I think you all missed the primary point of not pitting women against each other.
+Michael Bernard yuh
I live in Germany and don't know half the actors there, so that description box does me little good! Really! How cheeky can a person be?!
Christina Applegate is not having a good time. Haha
I think that she just looks really uncomfortable on the crap stool thing. Try sitting up for over an hour with nothing to lean back on, as someone with back and hip problems i can tell you its not good.
The story about the pervy 'japanese ' men made her uncomfortable. The other lady said japanese at least 50 times
Comedy actresses ROCK!!!
I feel that Zoooey is a little overwhelmed by all the people in the room. She is very awkward and I can relate. She is also very funny and I would like to see her grow personally so she can let it all out. Oh my Gosh she is so wierd.... I love her
i didn't see that at all. she looked to me to be embraced by all the women as the 'darling' of the room.
I muted the video everytime Zooey Deschanel opened her mouth lol Her sister is a much better tv personality
How the f*** did I get here?....
It was the wardrobe theme for the shoot they did along with the interview, it wasn't just a coincidence ;D
Where was Mindy Kaling?
I actually really enjoyed this. I thought the conversation was intelligent, funny and relaxed.
