Hoang going to the right and only finding two trees reminds of the first game I played on HD. It was a bugged nomad start that put me on an island that only had 3 trees, so I had to build a lumber camp there and cut them down so that I would have enough wood to even be able to build a dock->transport -> a new lumbercamp on the main land.
I love the struggle in these Hoang games. Every decision, every mangonel shot and monk conversion is so important when both players are on such low pop.
T90 "Hoang-like situations" when clearly no such thing exists --- there's reality and AoE and the whole circus on one side, there's Hoang on the other.
T90 missed something clever--while building that sneak tower behind the woodline, saymyname built an outpost as bait and Huang tried to take it down with vils. T90 refered to it as a "tower" that reached 91%.
@@lucianobuono3228 Ok, some of those are higher level players, I wasn't sure. I dont see where it says what day it was. Does twitch record videos? Maybe its there.
I'd love to see what would happen if Hoang teamed up with (i.e. 2 players, 1 Civ) someone who would just manage his eco in Castle Age. Like not even create any vills, just be on discord with him taking orders but micro managing the vills so they don't get picked off. I know literally no pros play that way but I'd be fascinated to see how much more damage he could pull off had he had someone in the background keeping his Castle Age eco from going idle/getting picked off easily.
What hoang really needed was stone. That 0 stone means no castle. If he wants to do hermit games like this, then his eco is essentially untouched by placing a well castle. It is estimated to be 0.36 stone per second per villager. 3 on stone means 100 wood, 150 food, and 3 pop space for 1.08 stone/sec, meaning 601.85 seconds till castle. Using 100 wood, 200 food, and 4 pop for 1.44 means 451.38 seconds for castle. These villagers really pay off because 7.5 minutes is literally nothing. The benefits of the castle would be securing resources, as it was essentially trash all game. Just hoang things. He could of also used his feudal stone walls to his advantage 1800 hp in feudal depending on version and they have 8 m. def and 10 r. def. Palisades 250 hp 2 m. def and 5 r. def.
@@stickmaker10111 I don't know Hoang's rush are strong because they are really fast. 3 vils mean a lot early on, with 3 vils on stone, he probably could not have made such a strong knight counter rush, when Saymyname was stil in feudal with spears not even created. His eco was trash, but he did manage to trash SMN's pretty well in return. He still managed to strip two gold vein dry, that tells how how busy SMN was and how little time he had to exploit Hoang (though he succesfully did it). claiming both gold back and securing food eco with a castle mightvery well be the best play according to the situation, it definitely looks strong, but you almost have to follow up with a boom. What Hoang did sure looks dubious (like most of what he does and that does not stop him from being very strong) but he definitely played to his strengths, that is low eco dirty wars.
@@stickmaker10111 4 moths later and he be evolving... Who would've thought, players like him and the slob seem to be pretty much preprogrammed to a certain playstyle. What these players reveal is that this is too stressful for them. They just go all in because it works well enough, feels familiar/automated and it requires less thinking, because they're basically on autopilot. You can also see this in that such players play thousands of similar games, yet do not get bored (I don't think the viper could do this. He needs to troll, like MBL, etc.). At any rate, I'm amazed hoang has shown he's able to adapt if he wants to. Maybe T90 inspired him. Most of us are on auto pilot by the way - in real life, in desperate need of inspiration ;). @@corbeau-_- Definitely amazing. Here is an example of a moba autopilot. Pro players have reactions without having to think about their movement. Think of it as knowing the feel of the game so much that if something unexpectedly went bad/awkward/buggy then they could very well FLINCH. They act on impulse and have their brain working on macro play as well as micro play. I've played enough league of legends to outwit and outskill opponents. My drawbacks are the macroplay. get cs -> look for kills -> get towers -> ward -> do objectives. My cs sucks, my kills aren't punished, my warding is crap, but I do enjoy a rousing rumble of objectives. I don't think I ever have hit that 100 cs at 20 minutes. AOE is a game of many playstyles because there are counters to everything, some of which will come out on top. My favorite game mode would probably be all tech no civ bonus because its a matter of strategy and answering to what is happening moreso attempting to pull of a civs traits which are already known. However, civ bonuses can't be disabled without mods. That being said I really have no interest in aoe anymore, as the nostalgia has died out and there is too much on the plate to handle. Without microplays such as towering walling etc, poor intel gathering, and not being able to play to strengths, I can't say I can beat anybody. I think my niche in games is endurance. I can last a really long time under seige doing tedious movements, repetitions, and adjusting to changes. I just can't project that into strategy games well. I often find improper balancing, matchups that shouldn't be played, and a reliance on a team who is probably less like me and I find them underskilled so I have to break my back to save them and do all I can to lose because nobody cares about reducing the healing of someone with insane lifesteal.

Not really to a problematic level, the player numbers are high enough to be split over 3 platforms (DE, AOE 2 (2013) and Voobly). T90 just likes to give varied content.
It did split the community. The highly Asian players are almost completely left out, while the South American community is doing whatever it can to hold on to DE.
