I own one for over a year now. I thought about getting an iPad but went for a ReMarkable instead so I don't get distracted. If you compare it to the price of an iPad it eases the pain. Think about what you really want.

Tbh the price isn't bad for an E-reader. Kindle paperwhite is like 100$, better ones are 200$+
Those are much slower, not designed for touch input etc. You can pay like 300$ for an E-reader and still it won't take written input. This 500$ E-reader is waaay more accurate than my 1k dollar Note phone. This also is 100% custom hardware made from scratch.
Also its price dropping still. I'm not saying it isn't expensive, but considering E-reader prices it's not bad.

The old days because a lot of people don't use pens and pencils anymore. For collage I only carried one pencil for the occasional scantron test. That one pencil lasted me the entire 4 years. Work is done on computers, payments are done on computers, packages are signed for on computers. Hell they don't even write your name of coffee cups anymore they print it on. So yea, "the old days".

I think Lewis hit the nail on the head when he said it's a niche product. Definitely not for everyone, and as an owner myself, I have to get used to telling people the pricetag and being okay with their reactions.
I will say this, I was an original pre-order purchaser and I've been writing on the tablet for school for over two years now. This thing is built to last. I use it for class daily and battery life still lasts me two days of heavy use easily. Writing is amazing as usual, and putting textbooks on it is great because I never have a heavy backpack.
This tablet works well for me, but I agree iPads are a better choice for most people. Just thought the comment section needed come contrast and clarification on the other "too expensive, didn't consider" comments.

I’ve always loved these type of displays for some reason haha. Imagine if they made e ink in color.
For someone like me who doesn't have space for real books, it'd be a dream to read comics that are in colour on such a display, especially if it's a 2:3 aspect ratio like a lot of graphic novels targeted at kids are published in.

I like the idea but I believe it would benefit this company even better if they aimed this for students. I personally would love this to take notes on. As Lew stated, it's on the expensive side. But if this company made an affordable one for students it would change the note taking game 2 fold!

@@Arnjeir Tbh I wouldn't mind a smaller screen as long as I can take notes and save them in the cloud. I'm pretty sure if the company puts their mind to it they can find a way to make a cheaper one. Even if they have to cut some corners when it comes to special features. All I want to do is take notes and replace all of my notebooks to something more efficient and lighter in weight.

X17H :D had my ipad and pencil for years now and it still works great. Just take care of your devices, and they’ll last long. I’ve had my windows-based laptop for years as well, which can run multiple Adobe programs simultaneously without crashing or slowing significantly, but I still don’t want to bring its heavy ass everywhere (in addition to another device like a wacom), when I could easily do the basic document work plus procreate, liquidtext, and onenote with my much lighter ipad when I can.
I can see why you’d compare its price to a new laptop, but I didn’t see the need to buy a new one when my current one works great, I simply needed a secondary more portable device that has multiple functionality compared to a just drawing tablet that needs to be attached somewhere.
In the end though...to each their own XD
I use my remarkable for more than a year. I love it! Not because it's just perfect for notes and sketches but it supports me to focus without social media notifications, calls and others

@@Willi5Watt Definitely. Althouh you have to select the erase tool to do it, you can't flip the pen (unfortunately). You can also erase areas, shapes, etc, not just a simple eraser tool.
Sounds like it'd be a great tool for students... Too bad I don't have $500 laying around :/
I also have one of these! I've had it for over a year now. I luckily got it off my friend for $200. Love it! The pen writing doesn't lag for me, but just selecting items on the menu can lag. Highly recommend if you can get it for a good price

Subarulah I’m sure it is and if I could spare $600 I would totally get one for note taking and reading, but $600 is a tough pill to swallow.
