- Bigme is no stranger to fully-loaded units. And this one seems to take the cake.
It feels strange to think how much faster EINK devices can get.
But the Bigme certainly pushes EINK into an all new realm

Why did you pick a “video” with hardly any movement?
They keep using the same video for all video demonstrations. It’s a bummer 😡
If they show a video of a RUclipsr constantly waving his hands, it would easily reveal ghosting. Darker videos would also be a great way to show the worst case scenario.
@@yensteel I saw someone show the video quality on the new Palma…it was really good. (For eink anyway)
@@jayvansickle7607 I absolutely love my Palma. I don’t know if I ever plan on watching a video on it, but for reading sand customization, it’s epic for sure!
The 2 things that are keeping me from these new improved faster e-ink devices. First, they are killing the battery life. Second, they are very fragile. I have the Tab Ultra C. The battery life on it was terrible and the screen cracked by simply being in my schoolbag. Never dropped it or anything like that. Did Bigme improve on either of these faults compared to Onyx?
Compare it with onyx boox air 3c please...............
This gets me excited for the next e-ink readers until the end of this year! Boox and Kindle!
Does the screen survive if you accidentally leave it under direct sunlight? All the panels I've tested for my own product suffer from UV exposure.
The video you used on it was extremely slow on purpose. I'd like to see it render some usual video.
Okay cool
Watching from Tab Mini C 😂😂 .
@goodereader he has a point, though. Why not show a more challenging video? People rely on these reviews to make an opinion. I use it now, so I know it is capable of rendering complex videos at an acceptable level with some drawbacks. All in all, it's about how much light comes to the screen (sun light is perfect) and knowing you will not go beyond 30 fps. But I think it is still great
Yeah, I agree. @goodereader since you guys use the same images to test the quality of reading magazines or comic, you guys should have a couple of videos to always use in the next comparisons, gets easier see the difference between the devices.
I'm still waiting for a gallery 3 device that isn't slower then my kindle paperwhite 2 from 2014 in at least 8inch screen for comic and manga reading (hope the kindle you guys talked about have this specs)
@@technobaatHave you ever gotten the feeling of “wow the colors look so nice” when going back to your phone? It happens a lot here 😂
Does it allow for an external big storage SD card? If it doesn't have it, to me that's a deal-breaker.
Quick question Peter, thinking about buying a new e-note device, got the Remarkable 2 but it's starting to feel slow, between the Bigme inknote color X and the Onyx Boox Note Air 3, which one would you buy? The device on the video looks really nice but so does the Onyx one...
Peter does not do any of community or comment management on RUclips
He comes into the studio to record videos with his voice, but that's it
If you want to reach him directly you have to email him
Peter@goodereader.com
But honestly, you could not go wrong with either one of those. Both Onyx and big me are competing brands with very similar dynamics and features. Neither one of them has an overwhelming Edge on the other
Thank you
@@goodereader Sorry asked Peter because he is the only one on your team that I know the name of xD
Thank you for the reply! Was thinking of the Onyx one but this one looks pretty good too, and the Remarkable is a good device but it feels a bit slow.
@@gonzalotoscano3310 it's totally fine :-) we have community managers that do the comments
But either way, you can ask us
I can't wait for kaleido 4!!!!
not happening
@@whiteglitch Maybe in two years!
The last news about Kaleido 4 was last year, when they announced they want to hire engineers for the next generation. No news or announcements are made so far. Gallery 3 is taking up more attention right now, and companies are betting big on it, even when the tech has a lot of issues at the moment. It might take a few years for devices to come out, or that gallery 3 will be fully usable.
My opinion is in the minority, but I don’t think the next generation should focus on higher resolution but focus on light transmission, which results in brighter whites. That is Gallery 3’s selling point. One way is to shrink the borders between the color filters, or improve the color filters itself.
Interesting fact, we’re more sensitive to black and whites than color differences in terms of details. That’s why YUV colorspace was invented and why color TV signals are backwards compatible with black and white TV. They use only a sliver of the spectrum for color information. So 150ppi is alright for color, so long as black and white pixels underneath is helping with the details.
Edit: to the reply about the comment below, ‘you’re right that cost is a concern. I personally have trouble with Kaleido 3 indoors myself, and the front light drains a lot of power. Hopefully Kaleido is as bright as carta.”
RUclips, please stop deleting my harmless comments!!!
@@yensteelI'm not a firm believer in Gallery. Firstly, it's more expensive to produce. Secondly, the cheaper Kaleido 3, even with a darker white, is still perfectly readable and in my opinion, has more character in its interpretation of paper because it looks like a textured newspaper or "jeans". The Inkpad Color 3 and the upcoming release of Kobo Colors show that Kaleido 3 can have respectable frontlight brightness, unlike the older Kaleido 3 readers which are dim even in full brightness settings. This new Bigme device is also using a Kaleido 3 technology and is definitely looking good
@@brownwallet942 Thank you so much for sharing, you’ve made a good point about cost. I’ll check out the Inknote. Good-reader must have covered it already.
I personally have difficulty using my boox with Kaleido 3 indoors without front light, and the front light drains the battery a lot.
How much does the battery drain in an hour with continuous page flipping?
This looks great and seems to be worth the cost. My only question is would it shorten the life of the eink display if you were to watch a lot of videos on it?
Technically speaking, constantly activating the eink pixel would degrade its life. But it also depends on whether it is a full black to white full voltage change or something lighter.
I'd love to see the performance of these 10"+ readers with very large textbook style PDFs. I'd like to see them evaluated for both performance and legibility for text on those without the need to zoom in and pan between columns of text and such.
A pdf editor with automatic margin removal AND custom cropping is a must. Not a lot of pdf annotators have it.
It's running android, it should be good enough to read big pdfs that your phone can read
For now the note air 3c is enough for me. I'm going to wait to upgrade for a decade or two to see where the tech goes.
I had a BigMe color and lovvvvved the feel of it, but the ghosting seemed worse than Boox so I sold it for a Boox Ultra C.
2 weeks later that got a massive update so I was gutted haha.
How is the comic experience now compared to boox? Especially with ghosting/lag.
i'm on the fence for both of those. Is the Boox Ultra C the most heavyduty of the boox lineup? Thanks
Reading PDF books does it translate languages like the boox device?
Thanks.
I'm not sure why, but this is the third review, that is kinda really professional and awesome, BUT at the same time seems to display things I want to see the most at the very last.
Hello , any video,on the 2 new kobo colour ?
I like the glow light presets. You don’t have to use them, and they’re set by engineers who know a thing or two.
Does this device support the app Everand?
How is this "the fasted Eink of all time". Onyx with BSR is the fasted eink so far. I didn't see any fast 'movement' in your video.
Did you get a profit from that video?
I want this.
The world's slowest video is used to demonstrate video performance? It doesn't make sense, unless it was done on purpose 🤔
man i wonder how many years off a 24 fps e-ink display is
Kaleido 4 should be at least 175ppi of color
9:35 scary ghost! BoooOOOOOOOooooh! haha
Can you use this as your monitor for PC ?
Why are eNotes so god damn expensive??
Probably because theyre not mass produced in the same quantities as ereaders, costing more to manufacture
This
Three reasons, scale, manufacturing infrastructure and techniques, and monopoly/patents. The manufacturing techniques of lcds is much more mature and actively researched than e-ink.
To get costs down other corners are cut such as the chipset. That’s not too much of a problem for note taking and reading. People see a device with limited capabilities and intuitively think that it should cost less. So it is not easy to convince buyers unless they know how it specifically benefits and suits them.
Sorry, but Kaleido is a dead end. Sticking to B/W until Gallery gets faster.
Gallery is just too yellowish. I'm using Kaleido ad it's pretty good.
@@thibaldus3 that is easily fixed with next generation of Gallery. They just have use less yellow pigment, to make the colors correct. Kaleido's colors on the other hand will always be dim, because of the layer and the color resolution will be cut down to a third. Gallery is objectivity superior in quality. I don't care much about speed, since it makes no sense to watch video on Eink anyway, regardless how fast it is.
That's too much money,it's a no-go for me. It's not lcd or led or oled, but you want over 700.00 for it. I like eink as much as the next fan,but for this amount, just no
Another Android eInk Tablet :( Looks good though, I just don’t trust them maintaining the version for very long. And I don’t like google that much 😅 (yes, saying that on RUclips ;)) Thanks for the review :)
Ridiculous to show a slow motion video.
Cool
@@goodereader why are you saying cool, are you stupid?
@@goodereadereither you're using a bot/ai for responses or you are completely tone deaf and completely fine with showing an objectively poor quality demonstration video
That was not a happy comment
And if that is your serious response it comes off as trolling
Which makes worse the fact that I was seriously considering no longer watching this channel as that made me question the authenticity of these reviews
This is just a nail in the coffin
@@hen-tie6532 A well written reply ❤️
Hey, thanks but I think you move your hands way too much.
I still do not understand why anyone would pay this much $ for something that is still rather slow compared to real tablets
Correct, you don't understand
Actual note taking with real pen paper feel.
No distractions with multiple functionalities.
Non glare screen
Multiple weeks battery life
And the benefits are endless. It's a direct replacement for paper. Actual tablets aren't. The use case is different. E-ink tablets aren't for binge watching or playing games.
