I was a Baptist Preacher, raised in the Baptist Denomination, I met a brother from the Apostolic faith and he encouraged me to study, I studied and prayed and the spirit of God encouraged me to be Baptized in the name of Jesus, about a month later I received the Holy Ghost, and I have never felt empty since then. I felt empty before, like I was missing something up until I obeyed the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What most Pentecostals believe is that they don't receive the Holy Spirit until they are baptized in His name.
But the truth declares to us via Scripture that a person receives the Holy Spirit the moment they hear and believe the gospel, Gal. 3:2, and are immediately placed in the body of Christ.
This entire event of the Christian's salvation experience is spiritual and is referred to by Paul in the following verse in (1 Co 12:13) For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Water and Spirit birth is the New Birth! Water Baptism is Spiritual with Holy Spirit Baptism. Born of God is by Water Baptism in His Name and receiving the Holy Spirit in His Name. Sadly, people put man made Ideas above scripture. God gives Salvation, but we must receive it. Jesus gives repentance by His Spirit, He gives Baptism by His Spirit when His body, the Church, baptizes us, and when He gives us His Spirit. He does it by Himself by His Power. We just have to believe, receive, and obey! When you don't accept and obey, you don't receive the free gift of His Salvation. John 3:5/Acts 2:38.

@@lefonzopollock4345 . . (1 Co 1:17 KJV) For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
Keep in mind that the following verse points to a SPIRITUAL baptism, not a water baptism.
(1 Cor. 12:13 KJV) For by one "SPIRIT" are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
In other words, the very moment a person hears and believes the gospel message that Jesus Christ died for their sins and rose again from the dead, the HOLY SPIRIT places that new born-again believer into the body of Christ, the Church.
Keep in mind that this new birth has NOTHING to do with water baptism.
Water baptism is merely as act of faith performed by the believer to show other believers that they have NOW decided to follow Jesus Christ by going under the water (dying to the old life or old man) and coming up out of the water (living a new life unto God after the new man).
Water baptism doesn't regenerate anyone. But it is a form of sanctification.
Salvation is by grace through faith, Eph 2:8.
      God bless!

    • @lefonzopollock4345

      @Harvest Workers
The sent not to baptize doesn't mean believers aren't baptized to be born of the water. Paul was addressing the following of men and their ministry instead of following Him(Jesus Christ) through the Ministries He(Christ) left to the Church.
      First-Apostles
      Second-Prophets
      Third- Evangelist
Then Pastors & Teachers. People were following personalities and certain people who taught certain doctrines.
Of course, Paul was sent to baptize, so the "not sent to baptize" must be kept in the context of what Paul is saying, to who and why.

There's two types of speaking in tongues: the initial infilling of the Holy Ghost, and then giving a message to the Church in tongues, which is an additional gift and is one of the nine gifts of the Spirit outlined in Corinthians.

I spoke in tongues at 4 years old and went on to live a life totally contradictory to scripture until I turned 21 and completely surrendered my life to Christ without the "evidence" of speaking in another language and was granted power to overcome the sin in my life. I respect Dr. Bernard for engaging in this conversation with Dr. White. The topic moved from the original question to something else. This usually happens when someone doesn't have an answer to a question. Dr. Smith brought up the "Gift of Tongues", which is different from the initial evidence of the Holy Ghost. I usually bring up this example when discussing the New Birth. This is a shortened version that everyone, ESPECIALLY WOMEN, can understand. A Birth is accompanied by 3 things: Water, Blood and Life. 1) When there is a pending birth, there is the breaking of water (Baptism); 2) Whether by C-Section or natural birth, there is the flow of blood; (Repentance- without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins) 3) Once the baby is delivered, the Mother is still not satisfied and neither is the Doctor's job done until another phenomenon takes place. That baby has to produce an initial sound to denote life. He/she has to cough, cry, exhale...something! Whenever I engage in "debate" or conversation with someone of a different belief, I always remember I Corinthians 2:14.

On July 26th 2020 I was filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost and I knew it because I began to stammer and speak with another language of which I never heard before nor had ever learned. On August 2nd 2020 I then was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of my sins. Since then my life has never been the same. My heart has been forever changed. I used to be bound by a life addicted to sex, drugs, rock n'roll, lying, and stealing with no power within me to stop. It is only by the power I received of God's Holy Spirit that I am now able to live a holy life or even know what that is alongside God's Holy Word. @Silas Anguiano . . It is a biblical fact that every believer receives the Holy Spirit the moment they hear and believe the good news that Jesus Christ died for their sins and rose again the third day, which is called justification that accompanies regeneration of the spirit or simply put, to be born-again.
On the other hand, this experience of speaking in tongues that the majority of Pentecostals and Charasmatics claim they receive is most often subsequent to their initial born-again experience.
Once in awhile, as you claim your case was, it happens all at the same time, which I believe is a much rarer thing.

The mistake that Dr. White makes is that of declaring that, we can’t assume the new converts in Acts 2 spoke in tongues. The opposite must be said as well. That. We can’t assume that they didn’t. We must move further into the Book of Acts to confirm or deny the elements assumed to be true. Bro. Bernard does an excellent job of pointing to those proofs in the word.
People don’t want to reject the gift of the Holy Sprit. They want to reject that they would speak in tongues, as proof of receiving it. Remember. Some thought they were drunk with new wine. How’s that for proof?

Remember in John 21:25 I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.

Pastor Bernard stayed on point. The general subject stayed coherent when the Word of God was closely examined. Pastor Bernard stated clearly that looking to speaking with tongues as an initial sign of the infilling Holy Spirit is not, in fact, in the category of extra-Biblical revelation. This concept of tongues is exactly the opposite of extra-Biblical revelation because it is found explicitly in scripture in the OT and NT. The early New Testament church did not require the association of speaking in tongues and God’s Spirit spelled out explicitly. They knew. Those who desired God’s Spirit desired the life-changing experience of speaking with new tongues because that’s what being baptized with God’s presence was and is-an experience! Mr. White’s accusation against Pastor Bernard of adding or assuming concepts outside of the context of the scripture was baseless because no evidence was proven against tongues within the scripture. Instead, Mr. White resorted to personal experience from his knowledge of Salvation; whereas, Pastor Bernard had the confirmation of both Spirit and Truth from both his testimony and the Word of God. We must be DOERS of the Word….we are only deceiving ourselves if we hear the Word exclusively and do not pursue an actual experience in God. (James 1:22)

Dr. White does has a point. Dr. Bernard's position is based on his personal reconciliation of Scripture and then reading that reconciliation into the text. It simply comes down to this: where in the Bible does it claim that tongues is the initial evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit? You would think for such an important topic, we could point to at least once verse on which one can explicitly make this claim.

Just for observation, James White says David Bernard has to assume that after Acts 2 other people who received the Holy Spirit spoke with other tongues as the Spirit gave utterance, but James white is also assuming they didn't speak with other tongues.
No scripture says believers following Acts 2 didn't speak with other tongues when they became filled with the Holy Spirit. What had happened in Acts 2 was a fulfilment of a prophecy made by Joel in Joel 2:28-29. The prophecy don't indicate that what would happen as a result of the outpouring of the spirit was temporary and only for a specific time; therefore, in Acts 2 we see a fulfillment of prophecy, and Peter stated in Acts 2:38-39 that the promise of what's recorded is to even as many as the Lord shall call. Those who have been called by the Lord will have this experience.

I'm not sure that speaking in tongues is a prerequisite to salvation but I think it is probably a result of it. In Acts 2:38 it says be baptized and then acts 8:17 it says the apostles laid hand on the already saved Believers that they might speak in tongues and this was my experience in the worldwide Church of God on April 12th 1970. We cannot always rely on men but with the Holy Spirit in us we do have guidance

James White gives monumental evidence at the 29:50 mark as to why speaking in tongues is not the initial evidence since it is only recorded in 3 books of the NT.

Question: In 1 Corinthians 14... Why did the KJV translators insert the word "unknown" six times before the word tongue throughout this chapter? It was not in the manuscripts being used by the translators and that is why they put the word "unknown" in italics.
That changes the overall understanding of the passage and leads to a lot of assumption on the part of pentacostals in saying extatic rambling is what is being talked about.

As a oneness for the first time I have to agree with White, I grew up with this unknown tongue thing and pentecostals have to explain away “ not all speak in tongues” it just gets to obscured!
When does Paul speak in tongues/languages more than everyone else if not in church?
Is Paul keeping score about in his closet private prayer life?
Benard stated on a debate with this other preacher, Cook, that we don’t follow signs they follow us! The signs that following the apostle’s was that the word is around the world in other tongues/languages! If 3000 were converted to the church,, body of Christ, and the evidence was not specifically mentioned it’s just speculation! Acts 2:37 ,,, and they were pricked in their hearts,,,,,and what shall we do? Peter didn’t answer you must speak in tongues and have the evidence! Trinitarians have their triune God, and pentecostals, have their unknown tongue/language! I do believe pentecostals have took descriptive to be prescriptive! Anyone who babbles in tongues compare yourself to Kenneth Copeland test the spirt and see if it’s real!! It just become one of the greatest gimmicks since Azusa St. ,,,people get con into the manifestation of the flesh.! no matter what anybody says modern tongue speakers is all a fake job! It’s all the Bethel movement! Paul thanked God that he could speak in more tongues/languages than anyone else to spread the word! And the evidence that followed is that the word is around the world in all tongues/languages! It was a prophecy of God, that other tongues/languages would bring the word because the Jews were just too stubborn! All 3 times tongues/languages were spoken in Acts Jews were present!
Some trinitarian’s explain it it’s the third person of the holy trinity speaking to the first person for you !
The TRUTH is that in Jesus Christ we are complete! Col.2:10!

There are 2 reasons one will not receive the Holy Spirit w/ evidence in speaking in other tongues: (1) They are not unreservedly obedient to God. A prerequisite for reception of the Promise of the Father is to express our love to God by obeying His commands. Jesus directly ties the two together in the Gospels (John 14:15-17). (2) Considering this Gift from God something of the past, not for the modern-day Church. James teaches us that one who doubts is double-minded and unstable in all his ways, let not that man expect to receive anything from God (James 1:6,7). | It is God's desire to fill all with His Spirit, and He is still able to do exactly that. This genuine experience is not something anyone is able to "make" happen; it is of the Spirit of God, and is dispatched according to His understanding and His timing. May God bless you and lead you. Amen.

Wrong. I was a pentecostal before, I spoke and prayed in gibberish all the time. I was doing street evangelism and lay hands on people to let them speak in tongues. I was teaching these things before again and again and again coz I want people to experience what I've experienced. I thought that was the Holy Spirit. If I look back on that years of experience, the only person that I can see is a "confused, dishonest when exegeting the Bible, emotional high, and deceived person". And i don't think that's the manifestation of the Holy Spirit's power. However, I believe that the Holy Spirit is still gracious to me. Although I attributed a lot of things that don't have anything to do with Him, He still led me to the truth.
I can still speak gibberish right now just like switching "on and off" a light. And I sound like I really speak a language unlike other pentecostals and charismatics who obviously don't sound like they're speaking language, they're just babbling "bababababab dadadadadada, rororororo, bobobobobo,cacacacacap"... However, I consider this as flesh, not spirit. All we need to do is be honest in representing the Bible. Stop this kind of cherry picking verses childish hermeneutics. Study it properly. Be diligent in understanding the word of God. And the truth will set us free. God bless you my friend.

1 Corinthians 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a 👉sign👈, (not to them that believe), but to them that 👉believe not👈: but (prophesying serveth not for them that believe not), but for them which 👉believe👈.
😒This makes sense since WE don't believe the way WE should...
BECAUSE MEN SAY, "speaking in tongues needed for SALVATION"?
SINCE FAITH COMES BY THE HEARING THE WORD OF GOD, THEN FAITH IN THE WORDS WRITTEN IN ACTS 2:38 SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT, AND THE LORD HONOURS HIS WORD.
WHO IS IT THAT GIVES THE HOLY GHOST,?, MAN OR GOD?
THE PERSON THAT WAS BAPTIZED WAS BAPTIZED BY THE HEARING OF THE WORD AND BELIEVED AND THEREFORE ACTED IN AND ON THOSE WORDS AND GOT BAPTIZED, AND SO THIS REQUIRES FAITH FOR ANY PERSON TO ACT UPON, AND IT IS WRITTEN THAT FAITH ONLY COMES BY THE HEARING OF THE WORD OF GOD...AND Wherefore tongues are for a 👉sign👈, (not to them that believe), but to them that 👉believe not👈...
DO WE NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT A "SIGN" REPRESENTS?
HERE IS AN EXAMPLE FOR WHAT 1 CORINTHIANS 14:22 AND WHAT A SIGN IS RELATING TO,
Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the 👉sign👈 of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

👉The purpose for this Holy Scripture is to point out that a 👉SIGN👈 will be pointed out for all the 👉unbelieving world👈 that Jesus Christ has returned because all the true believers already know that Jesus Christ will be returning at the sound of the 7th Trumpet.
..THROUGH FAITH, BY THE HEARING GOF THE WORD OF GOD.
      HERE IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE,
Matthew 12:38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees(UNBELIEVER) answered, saying, Master, 👉we would see a sign from thee👈.
Matthew 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, 👉An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign👈; and there shall no sign be given to it, 👉but👈 the sign of the (prophet Jonas).
WHEN A BELIEVER WITNESS'S A PERSON OBEYING ACTS 2:38, THE UNBELIEVER IS DEMONSTRATING FAITH IN THOSE WORDS EXPRESSED IN THAT TEACHING SO THAT THEY MAY BECOME A BELIEVER.
TONGUES ARE FOR A SIGN FOR THE UNBELIEVERS, AND NOT THE BELIEVERS ALREADY IN THE CHURCH, OR ELSE THEY TOO ARE UNBELIEVERS IF THEY NEED A SIGN OF TOUNGES...SO, WHO IS IT THAT GIVES THE HOLY GHOST,?, MAN OR GOD?
WE DONT PROVE OUR FAITH TO MAN, BUT TO GOD.
SO WHY PREACH AND TEACH LEGALISTIC DOUBT?
1 Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the 👉wisdom of God👈 (the world by wisdom knew not God), it pleased God by the 👉foolishness of preaching👈 to save them that 👉believe)...
      AND IT IS WRITTEN,
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, 👉Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins👈, and ye 👉shall👈 receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
John 14:15 If ye love me, 👉keep👈 my commandments
IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE HOLY GHOST INTO YOUR HEART, THEN YOU HAVE BECOME A LIVING TEMPLE FOR THE HOLY GHOST AND YOU SHALL HAVE THE POWER TO KEEP HIS HOLY COMMANDMENTS.
1 John 3:6 (Whoever abides 👉in👈 Him does not sin). Whoever 👉sins👈 has (neither seen Him nor known Him).
THERE ARE PEOPLE TODAY WHO PRAY IN TONGUES AND ARE COMMITTING ADULTERY DAILY IN A SECOND MARRIAGE, AND THEY THINK THEY ARE SAVED BECAUSE THEY SPEAK IN TONGUES?
NO, THEY ARE SINNERS IN ADULTERY, AND MEN SAY, ""speaking in tongues needed for SALVATION"?...NO FAITH IN OBEDIENCE TO THAT WHICH IS WRITTEN IS REQUIRED.
      LEARN WHAT A SIGN MEANS,
1 Corinthians 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a 👉sign👈, (not to them that believe), but to them that 👉believe not👈: but (prophesying serveth not for them that believe not), but for them which 👉believe👈.
1 Corinthians 14:39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by 👉hearing👈, and hearing by the word of God.
Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
1 Corinthians 12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?👉 NO

The issue I see with Bernard using Acts 2 as the example how a person is saved, in fact of a person takes the time to read Acts 2 (and other key verses Oneness use) Bernard’s view doesn’t actually follow how it happen in the book of Acts.
    1. Not one verse shows anyone seeking to receive the Holy Spirit. It came upon them unexpectedly. However, we do see people in his church seeking to receive the Holy Spirit to speak in tongues, and it is to complete their salvation plan.
    2. In all the key verses Bernard uses we read tongues were only given to 12 or more people at the same time.
    3. In Acts 3:19 After Peter preached the same message to a different group of Jews he didn’t tell them to repent and be baptized, and there isn’t any evidence that they spoke with other tongues.

54:08- it's not possible for a person who was a sinner which would be every person under the sun, to have a full-on Salvation encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ and it not excite you! If your salvation experience was humdrum and intellectual then you are not born again that's a guarantee! God can lead you to repentance but that does not mean you've been filled with his spirit that means he's extending Grace for you to repent and come back to him which would explain the heart change. I think it's funny that people insist that they love God but when others who really do love God get excited and express that love like any normal expression of love, they get offended but the reason they're offended is because they have a religious spirit! I don't see anywhere in the Bible where somebody had an encounter with God and they did not leap clap jump cry shout raise their hands dance praise God go tell everybody I mean just read every encounter someone had with the living God and not one of them walked away with the attitude of this caller or the attitude of James White. The people that had that attitude were people like Judas and other false converts who viewed their relationship to God as something that benefited them. It's called Head knowledge.

Following Dr. White’s comments the assumption would be that circumcision is not a sign of being a Jew because it is not mentioned in a majority of the books of the Old Testament. Dr. Bernard is not speaking of the gift of tongues which clearly 1st Corinthians 12 is addressing for the most part. I believe that much like circumcision was a sign that someone was Hebrew, tongues is a sign that evidences a new birth or born again experience. Dr. White argues that tongues is used by non christian persons and can be faked. So was circumcising. Yet those who were not Hebrews were not considered by God to be Hebrews just because they were circumcised. Anyone can claim to be something they are not and tongues or no tongues will not change that. Wolves in sheep’s clothing is a universal problem. Following Dr White’s rational he should not be baptizing in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost because it is ONLY spoken of in one place, in one verse. It is not ever expressly declared anywhere else and yet it is the primary mode of baptism worldwide within christian circles (not mine).

I’ve watched children try to mimic and please their parents by going up to the altar and trying to cry with one eye open. I’ve seen so much gibberish because it’s just in us to want to please other people. Many people mistakenly think that the scripture and then end of acts 2:38 says “with the evidence of speaking in tongues” and it doesn’t. So much about the rules and what all you need to do takes your eyes off of Him and places eyes upon yourself. How long does it take us to sum up another Pentecostal? Scripturally speaking are we sure that conversion is being born again? Jesus taught Nicodemus that were to be born of the water and of the Spirit... It's a pretty clear testimony of baptism both water and spirit baptisms as John his cousin was his forerunner leading the people to repentance and baptizing them telling them to have faith in Christ. Jesus said you have to be born of the water and of the spirit to enter the kingdom... The Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force....I think many people have been converted and have received eternal life but necessarily have not been born again but I don't deny that they may have life in His Name. This may seem crazy to some of you to others you may know what I'm talking about but since I died on 4/6/2019.. now I didn't die technically but it was really close. I had a sudden cardiac arrest and my heart didn't pump blood for several minutes my only negative side effect was a coma for a day and I lost a little bit of short-term memory.
I have had several shifts in my thought process and teachings all based on the Word of God and the revelation of the Spirit..
one was a dream that was so clear in response to a prayer that I had been praying for 5 days asking the Lord for a dream over the right way to baptize he showed me clearly in the dream by me telling two people that they needed to be baptized in Jesus Name and then he showed me and said "so do you." I had already believed this was the clear teaching from the book of Acts but it is not traditionally a common practice nowadays but was the practice of the apostles without exception all of them were baptized in Jesus name and all of them were filled with the Spirit of God. Some believe that is the Born again experience and I cannot prove that wrong. So we are saved we are being saved and we shall be saved. Salvation is a process. He was raised for our justification we're justified by faith and he pours out the Holy Spirit on those who believe and obey the gospel.... But some are not fully taught the gospel so God deals with us on individual basis.

Being raised Pentecostal oneness I have heard tongues and in my opinion they were emotional I’ve heard people say ok everyone pray in your pray tongue I’ve seen people trying to teach people have to speak in tongues and that goes on everyday in churches, just like you hear people confess Jesus Christ and confess they are saved and live like the devil and on the other hand you have people that speak in tongues and it’s real it’s not a show and usually it’s a personal experience(in my case) in their prayer closet and I’ve seen people who really confess Jesus Christ and live it So you can find people who fake both tongues and as a follower of Jesus Christ but you don’t throw out the whole teaching because you have fakers.

What you said is correct. But people like Bernard would deny this, but for the many of us who left the movement can verify this to be true, and it also happens in the AOG church. They try to put syllables in a persons mouth and if a person speaks one syllable, then they will tell you that is tongues. The main one is “da” and if you repeat that over and over they will say that you have the Holy Spirit and are speaking in tongues. As Dr. White says, estatic speech.

According to Mr. White, Jesus is either false, incorrect, confused, or in error. Because absent from the "words" of Jesus stating that everyone must be born of water and of Spirit in order to enter into heaven, are all the following words: faith, believe, repent, obey, trust, and grace.

So basically he’s saying just cause it wasn’t recorded that they spoke in tongues they didn’t have too? His argument is weak because it can also be said the same for what he believes lol! Where does it specifically say that they didnt speak in tongues and that they didn’t have to?
    Weak stance.

Yes let us covet the greater gifts yet they are not... because their sensation is and believe these things are for not for today... but we should always be pursuing all that God has for us..
Salvation justified by faith saved ongoing salvation sanctification working out your salvation with fear and trembling making your calling and election sure continuing in him rooted and grounded being filled with all the fullness of God... This is the call of the minister of Christ that we might labor with his strength until Christ be formed in them... How can we grow up in Christ if we do not receive the promise of the father if we do not receive the gift of the Holy Spirit... Now first Corinthians 6:17 he who has been joined to the Lord has become one spirit I have a hard time believing that I wasn't born again or joined to the Lord at my conversion when I was a boy yet I was not water baptized nor baptized in the spirit but I do believe I was made alive in Christ because the spirit gives life... So I'm wondering was I converted in my soul and did I receive eternal life but was not born again and Born into the kingdom of God because I had not yet obeyed and received that which God commanded and promised.?
