    Sorry your engine died. What's under that blanket? Got a 96. Blew a head gasket in my 1FZ here in the States. Swapping in an L92 LS 6.2l with a 6 speed auto with a light cam upgrade. Dyno'd at roughly 500hp and 500tq. Can't wait to get it out this Spring. MPG should improve from 10 to 15-20. Wish we got the diesels here in the States.

    Go a 15bft! Turbo a NA 4.1L 4cyl direct injected multivalve 12mm rotary inj and get 200hp+all the torques! You can run your h15x gearbox too.. find them in Dyna's and coaster buses. Worthy upgrade to a 1hz+t

    • @lronpaw
      @lronpaw 8 месяцев назад

      @@davidmilledge221 you can get a complete dyna for about 5k, use the engine and recoup costs wrecking the rest. 1k for an adapter, 1500 for turbo+manifold and you're about done. this is a very generalistic estimate as all engine conversions are different.

    Just plugging in to these videos mate. Great resource! I've recently (4 weeks back) blown up my upgraded 1HZ in my 80 series and in the process of installing a purchased FTE so what you document in this install and also the earler one with your dad's is so so relevant. Thanks again so much. I'm from NSW but your comments about SA off-road culture seem pretty consistent with my experience of travelling in SA......

      This is exactly why I make videos about what I do- to help people like yourself. I’m no expert, but I wish there were videos like this around when I was doing a conversion so if I can be the first to get some out there, I hope that’ll help others doing the same. Cheers mate and best of luck. Let me know if you have any in-depth questions that I don’t cover in my videos.

    • @peterthomson4535
      @peterthomson4535 7 месяцев назад

      Will...the videos i feel were well filmed and clear and methodical to follow. Thanks again. I do have a technical question or two. one is do you know the boost Toyota runs on the 100 series motor as standard? And do you know yet what you will be running with your (new) FTE?
      Peter

    • @WillsLandcruiser
      @WillsLandcruiser  7 месяцев назад

      @@peterthomson4535 I’m glad you think so, thank you. According to the initial dyno run on Dad’s 100 series- it looks like 12psi is the factory setting. The G turbo red wheel is set to 26psi out of the factory, so I will be running it at that initially. Eventually I will buy a unichip and boost controller to wind the boost up a bit further, as the ECUs can’t be programmed directly

    Hey mate. With yours being a late model 1hz. The crank and block is the same casting quality as the 1hdfte. If i was in your shoes, I'd grab your dads old fte head (if he still has it) buy some fte pistons and send your pump off to get built to 1hdft spec and make a 1hdftm engine using your 1hz block and front timing case assembly.

  • @jameszenfather

    If you were to redo the 1HZ Turbo upgrade and performance modifications what would you have changed or added to mitigate the engine blow out?

    • @WillsLandcruiser
      @WillsLandcruiser  4 месяца назад

      Ceramic coated pistons for one. A better high flow turbo (I was running a JB) and probably a front Mount intercooler to keep the exhaust temps as low as possible (top Mount is okay but you’ll naturally get more flow through a front Mount)

    yep stay off the fuel screw, just did my 1HDT back to blueprint, go genuinewith all parts, Most of mine came from the middle east. the build was form fuel to exhaust, Engine block was top and tailed, head rebuilt new pistons and not that ceramic crap, Genuine genuine, I want 1 million Ks, only mod was the 3 inch exhaust. Turbo and pump rebuilt to spec. Outcome is amazing from the get go power and enguine strength. The 1HDT is a remarkable design and the engines are available. I have a !HDT FTE in a ute and the 12 valve beats it in all departments. Gearbox next, possiblie the one from the V8 not sure yet. You will fix your beast just need to find the block.
