  • In this video I will go over the steps of changing the front sprocket from 14t to 17t. I will also go over motorcycle chain sizes and how to break down a longer chain to fit your application.
    In theory changing the front sprocket on the Vader/boom will make the bike more street friendly with than its stock gearing by increasing your riding speed by lowering your rpms and taking away a little of your torque.
    This is a great mod that doesn't require much hassle that anyone can do with the right tools.

      I depends on what the front and rear sprocket is, The vader has a F 14 band R 34 but I know most clones have like 15s and like 32 rears or something like that...In my case I needed 2 more links.

    Thanks for sharing, I have the same bike sold by Venom Motorsports as the X20, I am learning so much from you and others. I bought a front and rear lift stands and discovered on the rear was nowhere to hitch it, But no problem..On the inside of the swingarm is a big dent that I drilled holes and installed big bolts with 2 Nuts to space them out. Just got m 17 tooth sprocket installes and went for a couple miles of riding on my Vader...it did make acceleration a bit slow BUT MAN IS IT WAY BETTER OTHER THAN THAT!! Now crusing 45MPH GPS at 5000 RPMS and Im 200lbs. 1st and 2nd gear are very useable now--Before I would shift into third usually by about 17mph and that wasn't redlining it but the bike was screaming before in 1st and second and wasnt even getting me up to 20MPH--NOW? now it can climb up to the high 20's maybe 30 in 2nd gear --definitley at least the mid to high 20's for second gear for my normal shifts where I don't rev it too high---It is the single best/cheapest/easiest mod for performance on the Vader--Im hoping installing a new carb soon will help get either a little more top speed or some of my acceleration back too!! I mean on a lil 100 foot high hill I always ride and usually was getting up to 35 mph in 4th pretty quickly with stock 14t gearing and its pretty much the same or higher speed with the new 17t sprocket, just takes more time to get to speed, DOES feel a lil slow up hills but then the terrain flattens out to level ground eventually and BOOM there it goes flyin fast!! The new momentum gained with the 17T sprocket also makes me want to start using both my front and back brakes, especially downhill, whereas b4 I was only using the front brake and engine brake downshifts

      If you arent messing with the rear, there is no need to worry about it. It works the same in reverse if you go up on the rear you add link if you go down you subtract...
      Personally I wouldnt mess with the rear because things get more complex with the gear ratios, and changing both the front and rear with different values can negate benefit if you dont calculate it right.
      if you use a sprocket calculator to whichever you are doing will help. That is what I used. For my case, it said with stock- 14t front and 34 rear with 110 link chain, new- 17t front and 34 rear needed a 112 link chain. ..
      I bought a 116 chain and cut it to 112, but even if I didnt use the calculations I would visually know that 112 would be enough after the stock chain just needed two more links to fit perfectly... which I show in this video.

    Instead of buying a new chain you could have just made the chain a little looser

    • @yashiroku
      @yashiroku  3 года назад +1

      I explained that youll need 2 links because the chain will only be tight and you wont be able to adjust it anymore and even if you can run it like that youll be putting too much stress on those parts which can be a hazard.
      Granted all clones are different, I know with the Fuerza you might not have to change because the chain is longer for the stretch setup, same might be the case with the clones running a 15 front...Only way you know for sure before hand is to use a sprocket calculator. I personally would change the chain anyway because the replacements isnt much money for a decent one, the heavy duty unibear I had was night and day better than stock.
      The stock setup for the Gen 1 Vader is 14/34 and has 110 links so by going 17/34 you will need at least a 112 link chain to have it hang within spec...
