    Thank you so much for making these videos. I’m (FINALLY) getting ready to open my IRA and I’m feeling SO overwhelmed with all the information out there. You’re really doing a great job of explaining things in a simple and methodical manner- watching your videos is the first time I’ve found myself feeling hopeful and confident in my ability to pull this off successfully. ☺️
    Thank you again.

    The more i watch your tutorials on how to buy/invest on the Charles Schwab platform, the more I'm starting to understand the process of investing correctly while trying to understand the jargons. Most youtubers don't go into details and disect the site as you do. I really admire your teaching style. You have a new subscriber here. Thank you, God bless you. 🙏🏾

    Such helpful info! However, I do have a question. I currently have a Roth IRA with Charles Schwab and I got a lot of helpful information from you about how to run it and everything. My question is, if I have a Roth IRA with Schwab, can I also have a regular investing account that uses and receives money that does not go or come from my Roth IRA and rather from an external account like a checking account?

    • @AlexRaePersonalFinance
      @AlexRaePersonalFinance  Год назад +2

      Absolutely! That is called a brokerage account. You can create a brokerage account under your same Schwab login so you'll see both the Roth IRA and brokerage account side-by-side. You can transfer money from external bank accounts directly to your brokerage account, just like you do currently for your Roth IRA.

    I just opened a Roth IRA and am interested in mutual funds. The problem is that I don't know how to search for them. I understand how to search for stock since those are just company names, but how do I find mutual funds and how do I tell which are favorable to invest in? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

    I just watched about every video on your channel (lol), thank you for all the information!! One thing I was wondering is, when you choose to reinvest dividends, instead of have them paid out, why is it that this helps reduce your capital gains tax? If I'm not mistaken, you will pay taxes on those dividends either way? Is it because if you choose to have them paid out, you would pay short term capital gains tax instead of long term?

    • @AlexRaePersonalFinance
      @AlexRaePersonalFinance  3 года назад +1

      Thank you so much for the support! I'm watching that section back again and realized I maybe misspoke. In taxable brokerage accounts, you don't avoid capital gains altogether by reinvesting dividends, but if they're considered "qualified dividends", you get taxed at the lower long-term capital gains rate instead of the higher short-term rate. You'd be taxed if you took the dividends as cash as well, so it's usually better to reinvest them right back in your stock portfolio so you can benefit from compound growth. Of course, if you're investing in a tax-advantaged account like a Roth IRA, you can avoid capital gains tax altogether on dividend reinvestments.

    Can you make a video on setting up reoccurring trades?? If that’s even possible, like I set up a Roth IRA and money gets deposited every two weeks so is there a way to just have the account purchase shares of the same stock/etf every two weeks??

    • @AlexRaePersonalFinance
      @AlexRaePersonalFinance  3 года назад +4

      I've gotten a few requests for this topic so I will definitely make a video on it! Unfortunately, it's not possible to auto-invest in stocks/ETFs with Charles Schwab. However, some mutual funds allow for auto-investing. I'll put up a video guide walking through how to set it up!

    Thank you so much for the video, I have a question, so If I use roth ira account to buy stocks can I sell the the stocks and withdraw profile or I will have to pay the penalty for it. As I heard you cannot withdraw money from roth ira account until retirement ?

    • @AlexRaePersonalFinance
      @AlexRaePersonalFinance  3 года назад +1

      You can withdraw your contributions from your Roth IRA at any time without penalty or taxes. This is true even if you invest your contributions and sell them off at a later date. So if you contributed $15,000 to your Roth IRA over the last few years and it grew to $20,000, you can take out that original $15,000 without issue (after selling off your stocks and converting them to cash). But if you try to take out the remaining $5,000, you will be hit with a penalty.

      @@AlexRaePersonalFinance Thank you so much. I was doing taxes and I came to know that I am not eligible to contribute to Roth IRA further because of tax bracket . What would you suggest

      or b) traditional Ira ?
