We discuss how the stock market works, the questions you need to ask yourself before making your investment, how to choose an investment account type (Roth IRA, taxable brokerage, 401k, etc.), how to choose an investment brokerage, how to choose your personal investment strategy, and how to take the emotion out of investing to keep you level-headed during stock market downturns. Can you talk about REIT funds?
    And what do you recommend if I want to save for downpayment of first home probably in few years?

    • @AlexRaePersonalFinance
      @AlexRaePersonalFinance  3 года назад +1

      Thank you! I'll note down REIT funds for a future video. :) A few years is tricky - some people will say keep it in a high-yield savings account or a CD, while others would invest it in the market. Ultimately it comes down to your risk tolerance and how flexible you can be with your house-purchase timeline if the market dips when you were planning on taking it out. You also need to keep in mind your potential tax burden if you choose to invest.

    Is there any way to switch my Roth IRA on Charles Schwab into a traditional IRA?

    • @AlexRaePersonalFinance
      @AlexRaePersonalFinance  3 года назад

      It should be possible. I'd give Schwab a call and have them walk you through the process. I think it's a lot more common to go the other way (traditional into Roth). Keep in mind you should get a tax break for the conversion, *but* your withdrawals will no longer be tax-free, like they would be with a Roth.

    The only thing that makes me move so slow is LOSING money. But I think the more I learn the faster my fear would move out.

      For sure, it definitely is scary to see your hard-earned money diminish during a dip. But keeping a solid emergency fund, not checking my investments too often, and investing in "slow and steady" investments like index funds makes it a bit easier for me!
