Currently I'm just being smart and frugal with my money, I'm in the green 47% over the last 23 months and l've accumulated over $70K in pure profits from DCA’ing into stocks, ETFs, dividends and futures. However I’ve been in the red for a month now. I work hard for my money, so investing is making me a nervous sad wreck. I don’t know if I should sell everything, sit and just wait.

Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look.

Given the current uncertain circumstances, it's crucial to grasp effective financial management, prudent investing, and adeptly maneuvering through economic downturns. However, my main focus revolves around boosting my stagnant reserve of $240k, which has remained idle for far too long with minimal to no growth. While I'm committed to the long-term approach, the erosion of my savings due to inflation and the daily depreciation of my portfolio demand immediate attention and a solution.

I like investing in close-end funds that pay monthly dividends. The trick is to hold long term and reinvest the monthly dividends plus buy more shares on a monthly basis or when ever you can afford to. This can be easily done because close-end funds are bought and sold on the stock market just like regular stock. That’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between $50k to $70k in dividend income

An important aspect to keep in mind for any investment is that they entail risk. Markets go up, markets go down. When that happens, your balance in the investment will naturally change.
That’s market risk and it’s just one type of risk you’re exposed to when you invest. There’s also interest rate risk, inflation risk, currency risk, and many more.
However, target date funds attempt to lessen the severity of some risk by gradually and automatically transitioning your asset mix of stocks and bonds to a more conservative mix as you approach retirement.

The market's uncertainty is one of the reasons I have my daily investment decisions guided by an investment advisor, as their skill set is built around going long and also shorting the market to maximize returns, both employing profit-oriented strategy and laying off risk as a hedge against inevitable downtrends, and when combined with exclusive analysis, it's nearly impossible not to outperform. The pandemic has shown us just how quickly decades of planning, investing and saving can be completely upended. This could mean your current financial plan might leave you without enough money to last your retirement. A recent Vanguard study found that, on average, a hypothetical $500K investment would grow to over $3.4 million under the care of an advisor over 25 years, whereas the expected value from self-management would be $1.69 million, or 50% less.

I began investing in stocks and Def earlier this year and it is the best choice I’ve ever made. My portfolio is rounding up to almost a million and I have realized that when a stock makes it to the news, chances are you’re quite late to the party, the idea is to get in early on blue chips before it becomes public. My advice is always to keep the majority in ETFs that cover multiple sectors. Then have a couple stocks, as a good percentage, picked out that you feel personally attached to or interested in. That way you can mitigate a lot of the risk but also have a personal touch to your portfolio. I feel this mitigates some of the emotional downsides or disinterest people have with investing. Also helps with the urge to constantly buy/sell with fluxes in the market.
