Awesome picks! I love SCHD, I really think the way to go is to add the growth separately, like a VOO or XLK or Individual stocks like AAPL and MSFT while keeping SCHD as the core holding.
I'm new to investing and will be making my first investment into etf tomorrow. I was initially going to just start off buying VOO but after some research and yt videos I was wondering what you think about buying both VOO and SCHD?
VOO is great. SCHD is great. Either approach is fine over the long term. Most important thing is to get started and build your income over time to continue investing more as time goes on. I put in 200k five years ago in equity index funds, ETFs and individual stocks, which allowed me to retire in my 40s! Current portfolio value is ~1.4M and growing.
Congratulations you're doing sooooo well! I lost a lot chasing individual stocks and I feel pretty stupid for not understanding how investing works. I have a double major in economics but I’ve been trying to make sense of the market. Quite frustrating
I’ve been Dollar Cost Averaging into VOO and SCHD for 18 months like this combination not much overlap doing well, looking to add either VGT or QQQM if there’s a downturn in big tech I'm older so I wouldn’t put more then 20% in this.
This is a great video and very clear for a noob to ETF's like me! Clear and concise explanation of all the basic details I needed to know. Thank you Chris!
the authorized participant is the one making money from the difference between the actual ETFs Value (NaV/ nr of shares) and the market price. they have an agreement with the issuer of the ETF to do so.
Hey dude, what programs do you use to track your portfolio? If you use your own spreadsheets, would you be open to sharing your set-up online for everyone to use as a demo?
In "1:25 Simple ETF Example", you tottaly missed the pint to me: You explained what is a SHARE... Not what an ETF is. Am I missing something? (EDIT: It's simply and beautifully well defined in few seconds right here *TO ME* : 4:01 Real-World Example: S&P 500 . thx again for this video!) Thank you a lot for this whole video anyway as it is a very good one! :D
Right now the Spot ETF's are only allocating 1-3% toward Bitcoin. Later they might offer 4,5 or even 10%. So to me it doesn't make sense to invest in such a low allocation in Bitcoin. Get it from a reputable exchange.
ETFS’s like QQQM have a closing NAV that is a factor of the NDX composite value. Makes sense but is there a way I can find this factor? (Is there a term for it?)
I buy LEAPs on 3xleveraged etfs when those etfs drop below the 200EMAdaily If I can't be leveraged more than an Olympic gymnast I dont want to be invested at all
SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust Vanguard S&P 500 ETF iShares Core S&P 500 ETF Since those ETF are investing in the S&P500, shouldn't they have the same market value?
Not necessarily since each ETF has different assets under management. As investors add money to those ETFs, the issuers buy s&p500 stocks with the money. As investors take money out, they sell the stocks. Each ETF will track the s&p 500 returns with little error but not necessarily have the same market cap value / AUM
I am in New Zealand. I wish to set up a small financial training trust for my grandchildren who are in many parts of the world. I have been investing in mutual funds and made just peanuts. ETFs are safer and more liquid than the rest. How can I start an account for them? Would it be good to run a trust ETFs as a collective or open it for them with some gift funds from me? I have 12 grandchildren and I want them to become smarter than you. by the age of 20.
But I still don’t understand what I am buying? Am I buying shares of an ETF, or the stocks inside of the the etf? What gives them the right to say they have those stocks inside? I don’t understand how you can own a stock in a company though an ETF I guess is what I’m saying???
You own shares of the ETF which owns the stocks. Your account does not own the stocks directly. Only the ETF shares that rise and fall with the basket of shares.
Thanks for all the great information Chris! Do you have any book recommendations on options? Books that helped you during your learning journey? Thank you in advance!
@@projectfinance sorry to correct you but if you rewatch your video you never said SOME and instead implied that all mutual funds charge you load fees.
The value of each share decreases as well since the size of the pie gets smaller. Each share represents a piece of the pie. If the pie shrinks then each slice does too.
Much more to come! I’ll be doing a lot of writing and I may fire up a newsletter to be more in touch with the subs. I’ll talk more about those things in future videos.
Pretty much, but it's pennies here and there. It's a win-win for everyone: retail investors get fair prices and the APs get small arbitrage profits from keeping the ETF price true to the NAV.

I have a 3 fund portfolio but I have finally decided to invest in ETFs, alongside. I’m looking at SCHD, VOO, XLK or SCHG.

Great content Chris. Also, fantastic video quality. You put a ton of work into your videos and it shows. Thanks!
There are 5 companies that have multiple share classes. The S&P 500 has stopped accepting companies with multiple share classes into their index.

So correct me if im wrong, now is the time then when market is down to invest in leverage etf’s ?

Do any ETFs pay dividends?
Thanks Chris for clarity on etf price movement. I was aways curious how it works prior to this video.
Doing my best! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for this lesson, it's been helpful indeed. How can I access ETFs if am based in Africa.?

SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust
Vanguard S&P 500 ETF
iShares Core S&P 500 ETF
Since those ETF are investing in the S&P500, shouldn't they have the same market value?

So basically ETFs are a share in the Monterey value? Therefore purchasing ETFs you are purchasing a share in the Monterey value of something?
Thanks. Informative.
A few S&P 500 component companies issue more than one class of stock like Google

A little bit misleading as some Mutual funds such as Vanguard mutual funds DO NOT charge a front load or back end load.
I didn't say ALL mutual funds charge them, but some do.
