hi, I'm a new subscriber and I felt encouraged to write a little introduction, so here we go: I'm Sophie (she/her), I will be 22 years old in 3 days and I'm from Germany. I'm currently studying education and history and I always turn to booktube in order to find the inspiration to keep reading after a long day of reading scientific essays and stuff. I love the atmosphere you create in your videos, I guess that's why I'm already obsessed with your content and I can't wait to see more. I found you through the video where you list other people's favorite books (it was in my recommendations) and as my favorite book is 'the book thief' I actually made it on the list (yaaayyy). Anyway, thanks for reading, have nice day. Bye:))
Shared this one with my Aunt, who needs calming things, and I know of little, if anything, that calms and centers me like seeing Emma sharing her world and discussing books. Brava, and thank you. You have no idea how many you help.
You are spoiling us with all of your amazing videos! Also, I’m here to hell into the void to ask for an updated bookshelf tour! Des gros bises de la france xx
Hello from Edinburgh! I came to your channel because I was searching for content about Rilke, and I've stayed as a reading enthusiast and autistic woman who really finds your content calming and accessible. I find louder chatty vloggers quite distressing but I really like your content and your obvious love of literature. I'd love a bookshelf tour as well, although it always adds more and more to a TBR as long as my arm :D
Emma, this is to let you know something. I came across your channel about a month ago. And I love watching your videos. With everything going on, your videos bring a lot of peace to me. I'm having a particularly hard day today with online classes and assignments and everything. Watching your videos make me feel so much better. Thank you for making us feel at peace. Lots of love and light from India✨🌺
Oh I love the new setup and shelves. It looks so nice in that area, you did a wonderful job. Also I would love an updated bookshelf tour. Love the deers too in the beginning. That was so incredible that they came that close to you and let you feed them out of your hands. I was crying at that part. Love you!!
I just love how you always introduce us to writers that i would never have picked up. And this must be one of the few videos where i have read 2 of the books mentioned! Loved My Brilliant Friend and the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Also YES PLEASEE GIVE US THE BOOKSHELF TOUR! ❤❤❤
Hey Emma, i know that i'm not the first one to say this but there's really something unique about you that gives your viewers a kind of spark? Quarantine has been so depressing until i found your channel. You give off some kind of aesthetic vibes which feels like really cozy yk. Sigh why do i suck at describing things sobs Anyways i'm literally reading every book you recommend hehe BTW you should totally try out Diary Of A Bookseller ^-^ Byeeeee
Hey! RUclips randomly shared a video of yours last week (or the week before), and I've been hooked ever since! I have since added many of your read books to my to-read book list. Your presence is so calming and your videos are simply delightful! Thanks for inspiring my rekindled reading journey!
there's no better way to spend my sunday evening than this video, reading war and peace and rule of wolves (by leigh bardugo) and having an ice coffee 🌺 emma, i hope you're having a beautiful day as well✨
Im so happy to see that you are reading Ferrante! This tetralogy has such an amazing story, characters and writing. Also, as Brazilian, Im extremely happy to see that you are reading (and loving) Machado de Assis.
i see you’ve really been into animes and mangas lately. i recommend hyouka! it’s a slice of life collection of light novels that was adopted into anime. it’s about a group of high school students that are members of the classic literature book club and they just basically solve mysteries that occur in their daily lives. it’s really cute and soft. the animation is the best!!! a masterpiece!! i can’t stress this enough. unfortunately, the light novels that followed the anime have no english translation but you’d find different sites that translate it. the anime is here on yt too. 💗 anyway, i love this video so much. thank you, emma!
🎉 Congratulations on 100k! 🎉 I opened the video earlier and saw that you were at 99.7k and I've been madly refreshing for the last hour watching it inch closer and closer lol. xD You were somewhere around 2.5-3k when I discovered your channel about a year ago. It's been incredible to watch it grow the past year. Thank you for all the wonderful, cozy content. Also, I second everyone who suggested Whisper of the Heart. It's one of my favorites! I would also recommend Arrietty -- it's so delightfully whimsical. The soundtrack is absolutely magical, too!
One of the best manga I’ve ever read was The Silent Voice. It has only 7 volumes if I remember correctly with just an absolutely beautiful and sad story. There is also a really good movie adaption, but I personally think that the manga captures the whole feel of it even better))
You’re so close to 100k omg🥺 I’m so proud of how far you have come!! I found your channel in early March of last year before all the lockdowns hit and it got me through these hard times! Your personality is so captivating and welcoming, it always feels like talking to an old friend when I watch one of your videos. I’ve gotten so many good book recommendations from you and I can’t wait to continue to follow you throughout your journey! You have a beautiful soul and I hope you have an amazing day/evening/night❤️
Our dreams at dusk is a great short manga and my absolute favorite. The art style is stunning and the story absolutely beautiful! And i love watching your videos. I'm so glad i found your channel. Your uploads always make me so happy, thank you so much
It all started in my infancy with the Book The Cat in The Hat by Dr. Seuss later in Grade school it was EB White Charlottes Web read aloud at a classroom by the teacher in my young adulthood i discovered The Readers Digest Condensed Books and since on i caught up on my reading
My brilliant friend and the whole Ferrante saga is incredible!!! I read the 4 books last year and I absolutely adored them, her writing is amazing. I hope you like it!! 😍 loved this video, so beautiful with all the nature clips 💖💖
There was a deer that used to come to our yard at least once a week and she grew so comfortable with me that eventually she was eating from my hand while I was petting her with the other hand. So precious!
Hi Sis How are you? The weather here is so beautiful, it is raining 🌧 (perfect weather for reading and seeing Emma's beautiful, calming vlog) Your new Bookshelf is so good Love it 😘😍❤ The deers 🦌 are so beautiful and cute 😍💕💖 Loved This vlog ❤❤❤ Love you ❤❤ Bye.
You asked for manga recommendations, so when it comes to romance I highly recommend you these: • "Old-Fashioned Cupcake" by sagan sagan - this is actually one of my favorite manga overall. It tells a story of 39-year-old Nozue, who deals with a middle age crisis. He's stuck in his routine and he's extremely tired of it, but he's too afraid to change anything in his life. Togawa, who is his subordinate is the only one who notices how depressed he is lately and offers him his help - he comes up with an idea of an "anti-aging therapy" they could go through together. He offers it, because in the past Nozue helped him and motivated him to keep on going, so he wanted to do the same for him - all the more that Nozue is the person he's in love with. I adore this manga, because it deals with so many issues - middle age crisis, depression, fear of change, what it means to be in a relationship with someone younger (for Togawa is ten years younger than Nozue) and if it is really an issue. I love how it's explained in this manga, actually it's one of my favorite quotes as well. • "Orange" by Takano Ichigo - It tells a story of Naho, who receives a letter from her future self. In this letter her future self tells her to try everything in her might to save Kakeru - a boy who just started going to her school and whom she'll fall in love with in the future. This manga also deals with a lot of important issues - depression, grief, the way people lie about their emotions and they're often not as fine as they say they are. I had a problem with liking Naho at first, but the deeper into the plot I got, the more I started to like her, eventually ending up loving her. Her relationship with Kakeru is shown in a very soft and sweet way. The other characters - their friends - are also really great, especially Suwa. I think you'd like him, he's such a sweetheart. • "Girl Friends" by Milk Morinaga - this is a much lighter manga than the other two. I read this quite a lot of years ago, in my elementary school years, so I don't remember everything that well. But I still recall it very warmly, especially that it was one of the first manga that showed me what is LGBTQ+ - because I had no idea at the time that even something like homosexuality existed - and that same sex relationships are perfectly normal. Anyways, this manga tells a story of Mari and Akko. They're complete opposites - Mari is a very quiet, shy girl, who doesn't have any friends, while Akko is a loud, open, quite popular girl. The girls don't really interact with each other, until one day, Akko suddenly asks Mari, if she wants to go home with her. From that day, Mari's world completely changes as Akko teaches her to really live her life and truly enjoy it. And of course, the closer they get the more they both fall in love with each other. It's really a lovely, gentle romance and it's also one of my favorites. So if you'd like something lighter, I highly recommend you this.
My wife and I have been watching Studio Ghibli movies this year. I got her a compete studio collection for Christmas, and we just got to Spirited Away last week. 😊 Have fun with your watching and reading!!!
omggg I read Small Game Hunting at The Local Coward Gun club for a Maritime Lit class for my english degree!!! that book absolutely slaps (also, in that same class, I read George and Rue by George Eliott Clarke, if you want a great novel by a wonderful black nova-scotian author)
The beginning of the vlog was precious. Happy to know you loved Machado de Assis short stories. If you liked My Brilliant Friend, you'll love the whole serie. The tee, the postcard, the lamp from Ghibli Studios are lovely! Yes, please update your bookshelf tour.
I'm so glad you are enjoying Ferrante, I loved the first book but the latter three really blew me away. I still think about the characters every day, and I read the series almost a year ago!xo
Hi Emmie! How I recently found your channel was through your survey of peoples' favorite books video. It got recommended go me, and I was super impressed with all the work that was put into it. I saw a few more of your videos and soon decided to subscribe! :)
Pandora Hearts is my favorite manga of all time. It's based lightly on Alice in Wonderland, so it has wacky fantasy elements. Both plot and art are intricate and gorgeous and it's finished which I appreciate. There's only 24 volumes and I gave about half four stars and half five stars. I'm hoping to re-read them soon!
Did you know that the Ghibli soundtrack music is out on cd? I didn't until I saw it one time in Forbidden Planet. the music is just so awesome..i once saw The Cat Returns in a small independent cinema in London and when the credits rolled this older Japanese lady in the audience was singing along to the songs. KiKi's is my favourite.. I LOVE Ghibli but I find them a bit hit and miss.. if you like something a bit different My Neighbours The Yamadas might be easy for you to watch.. its just a series of sketches and so it would be really easy to watch in 5 or 10 minute chunks without having to follow a story
That's it she's officially a princess
Yeah. We don't make the rules but I do believe she qualified for Disney's Snow White after this video.
