A not well known Studio Ghibli that I think is one of the best is 'Whisper of the Heart'. I'm just going to leave the synopsis here because I think you will be interested in the theme of the movie : "Shizuku lives a simple life, dominated by her love for stories and writing. One day she notices that all the library books she has have been previously checked out by the same person: ‘Seiji Amasawa’. Curious as to who he is, Shizuku meets a boy her age whom she finds infuriating, but discovers to her shock that he is her ‘Prince of Books’. As she grows closer to him, she realises that he merely read all those books to bring himself closer to her. The boy Seiji aspires to be a violin maker in Italy, and it is his dreams that make Shizuku realise that she has no clear path for her life. Knowing that her strength lies in writing, she tests her talents by writing a story about Baron, a cat statuette belonging to Seiji’s grandfather" xau
I started it with a friend, we were like ''awful, boring''. Then we finished the movies with TEARS. It's a masterpiece. The wind rises too. They are not the best success but so freaking good. We have a private joke with the song country road
Good books, magic and rambling? It’s the holy trinity! Already has made my day 1000x better :) Also a splash of rain is quite the charmer too (though bless your little cotton socks, I’m sorry to hear you’ve felt sad lately - you got this gurl!)
Omg I had the same thoughts while reading the silent patient, i was a little bit confused about where the book was going but then the plot twist really got me and this happens rarely so i was shocked haha
I'm so tempted to watch Howls moving Castle after I finish your video. It's my favorite Ghibli movie and I definitely feel like I need some more wholesomenes today 💕
I love watching your videos so much. They bring me a sensation of peace and calm and inspire me to read books again and to lead the life I want. The way you spend your free days is very much how I like to spend my rare free days from work and classwork, and it just makes me very happy.
Emma, I relate so much to what you talked about at the end, and I feel so much for you. Going through so much change, being on what feels like a crossroads in life, dealing with health issues, and also being in a pandemic to top it all off, is just so overwhelming. To you, and anyone who can relate - stay strong, you are not alone.
After watching spirited away watch the secret world of arrietty! It gives the exact emotion you described, just pure warmth and joy and I absolutely love it! My favorite ghibli.
Emma, what you said about your friends really struck me today, because this week three of my closest friends are leaving too, one of them is moving to the other side of the country and two of them will be gone for the whole summer. I can't even imagine what it's like to have the lockdown and your concussion on top of that, and I'm just sending you love. Thank you for your lovely videos, and I hope you find happy things in the coming weeks! 💜
every time I see "includes paid promotion" I'm like YES YOU GET IT EMMA! I remember distinctly a few months ago when you had 43k subscribers and it makes me so happy to see your channel grow :) (watching this an hour before an exam to calm myself and relax, as one does)
You're such a lovely human and it truly is a treat to watch your videos. I've been binge watching you since yesterday and am very proud to announce that I have watched (almost) every single video on your channel! You are the whole entire sun Emma, I'm so glad to have found you and your channel, so much love to you
I know you're not a HUGE Young Adult reader but if you haven't tried already I would really really really REALLY recommend The Raven Boys series or its companion series Call Down the Hawk. In my opinion it's a really sophisticated ya magical realism series with great writing, a compelling plot and AMAZING characters! It's been my favorite series since I was a teenager and it still stands the test of time for me :)
I'm really happy that you were able to watch a movie and even more with that amazing one! My favorite Ghibli movie is called Whispers of the Heart, and I know you will love it because everything is centered around books and children dreams. It's soo wholesome.
So nice to be able to check out your video on Monday morning! it's a lovely way of starting a week. Your voice is so soothing and sweet. Hope you'll feel better soon ❤️
It’s crazy how different people’s taste in books can be! I absolutely loved House in the Cerulean Sea, it was my favourite book that I read this year so far. I love hearing your thoughts on books, even though I might not always agree I love how in depth your book discussions are. I often use your videos for studying and you’ve actually inspired me to take an English lit course this summer! Sending love from Newfoundland :) Deirdre
Oh wow I am apparently in the same zone as you this month! I am also reading Swimming in the dark and House in the Cerulean Sea at the moment. 🥰 I am enjoying the first one a lot so far, I agree that the writing so far has been gorgeous (and the audiobook narrator has been pretty good so far)! I hope you are having a good day! 🥰
My goodness I started getting teary while you were talking about your thoughts and holding Baby Yoda. I send virtual hugs from Down Under. Hang in there Emma. You are such a treasured old soul.
emma! the house in the cerulean sea feels like the warmest tightest hug from someone that you love so dearly and I hope you enjoy it! (eta I got to the part where you said you didn't enjoy it that much and that's fair). your videos are still the best part of my day and I'm incredibly thankful for that.
@@raxorrrs I posted my comment before I got to the part where she says she finished it and didn't like it that much. sadly, I can't watch the whole video in one sitting, but I like to react to the things she says in real time, especially if it's about a book I really love. that is why sometimes my comments are all over the place and edited multiple times. I hope there's nothing wrong with that.
Thank you for sharing feelings and thoughts about your experience with having a concussion. You have such cute outfits! I want a baby Yoda like yours. I thought is it so sweet when there was moment when you were holding darling baby Yoda so close to you body. He gives you great comfort. Thanks for your lovely videos. You inspire me!
I love your videos so much and I want to say thank you so much for getting me through our lockdown here in Australia which hopefully will end on Saturday. 😊💕
I always love waking up to see you posted a video, was as calming as always.❤️ I also related to being sad about not finding a book that I loved completely, I’ve been disappointed with all the classics I’ve been reading as I usually love them but this year I just haven’t picked up the any that have blown me away. Hopefully you find one that you absolutely love soon! Hope you have a great day :)
So wonderful to hear that your journey with your brain injury is starting to improve! I'm in that stage with an autoimmune illness- finally finding treatment that works 🥳☺
Honestly, Spirited Away was one of my favorite movies growing up and I still couldn't tell you what it was about 🤣 I should really rewatch it now that I'm an adult, I'd probably understand a lot more.
Hello Emma! Thanks for such a relaxing and heart-warming vlog! When I saw you hug that baby Yoda close to your chest, I wanted to give you the biggest of hugs ❤️ Have a nice week, I sincerely wish you the best, everything's gonna be alright!
Proud of you for watching a movie!! It’s been so long. I started a new relationship, got on meds, graduated Highschool , became a political activist, ended the old relationship for my current one, cycled through some jobs, changed meds a bunch then got off of them, and finished an entire year of college during the time you spent not being able to watch movies. 😭You’re a trooper for sure! It must have been so hard during quarantine not to have something easy to spend the time with like movies/TV. I binge watched all the Marvel movies this Winter for the first time
Just discovered your channel this evening and holy heck you give me more asmr than any actual asmr channel. I don't know why. I think it's just your lovely, calming vibe. Anyways, I love your videos, so thank you.
so happy you’re enjoying Machado 😍 I know you have the Bras Cubas one but his most popular work is “Dom Casmurro” and it divided the country (even up to today) with a BIG question... people actually fight about this it’s awesome
My last week was terrible for me bc of school mainly, but i feel so good to watch your content again, I already feel Emmie like a friend :), also this is one of my favorite vlogs, I felt it so near. Some of my highlights: 1. Emmie listening to AM 2. Your unboxing, so cute you want to give them some back, i'd love to send you something :( 3. So incredible you got so much without watch a movie, but cool you can again and also with studio ghibli, I have on my list watch Howl's Castle 4. Nature, as always Also, I have been feeling this way about books, although u have read just little this year, all books are just 3 stars :(, last year the silent patient was great for me. At least war and peace is has been great. About the last thing, i hope you can get through that don't feel alone, i guess it has been so hard for all us, feeling relatable about this :(
I love when people mention my favourite bands!!! What’s your favourite arctic monkeys song Emma? Mine is do me a favour. I hope you have a lovely day 💖
i get what you mean when you say you were disappointed in yourself for not liking a book. for me that was the song of achilles. it wasn’t bad per-say but it just didn’t hit me like it did everyone else.
Spirited Away is my fav movie of all time! The song Sixth Station in that movie and the scene including that soundtrack...oh that is where I want to live. I want to get on that train and never return :)
I'm a lit student and I often get very tired from reading these very heavy books and texts, and long for something simpler. But I recently picked up "Waslala", by Gioconda Belli, and her writing has this magical thing to it I think you might like! She's always deep, but in this way that makes you feel very connected to her words and her characters and the worlds she builds. I read "Sofía de los presagios" last year and it was AWESOME! Lastly, I enjoy your videos so muuuuch. They are relaxing and help me focus - studying from home has been hard but you inspire me and I look forward to reading your recommendations! You speak of what you read and like with such love, it makes you want to devour books jaja. hugs hugs!
A great point about 'The Education of a Poser' that João Cezar de Castro Rocha, one of the foremost brazilian machadianists, brings up, is that the call that the father makes for the son to deny himself any self criticism or deeper evaluation of what could be right or which things could be more intelectually coherent in any given circumstance actually drives the reader the other way, making them think as a reflex about their own behavior and what share of it could be mere "posing". As the father drops invectives against the use of irony and its veiled capacities, it's exactly through irony that Machado turns the story's discourse on its head; as Rocha puts it: "the reading of the text defeats the theory, and the reader ends up becoming the inverse of the text." 💭
Hey, take it from a guy who practically has ZERO friends, it gets lonely occasionally but you can always rely on wholesome shows like Bob's Burgers, Community (I recommend btw), and books to keep you company (books are the greatest friends). But I am happy about your recovery and hope you can go back to regularly watching movies soon. After you recover and finish reading War and Peace, I really recommend watching Sergei Bondarchuk's film War and Peace. It's seven hours long (the total hours of the three films) but it is REALLY good I cried in the end.
Big studio Ghibli fan here 🖐️My favourite movie of all time is spirited away (which is why I clicked into this video), the music is the most amazing as well! Personally don't like Howl's moving Castle that much, it's ok, but just don't connect with the characters that much. My next favorite from Ghibli is princess mononoke, highly recommend, again amazing music.
Congratulations on watching your first movie again! 💛 If you're in the mood for more Ghibli, I can recommend Arrietty. Seeing War and Peace reminded me of how far behind I am. I've barely had time to read this month and now I'm only on page 270 of about 1200. Aahhh. And I would love to sit down with it for a while to properly get into it, I just got to the beginning of the battle of Austerlitz and I can't just read it. It's cruel. I really feel what you said about the pandemic sort of catching up with you when you're slowly getting better with a chronic or long-going illness. I live in Germany, we've descended into bureaucratic chaos here and it's the first time I'm really struggling with the situation. :/
Emma, I'm really glad you started to watch Studio Ghibli movies, I love them all! They have beautiful animations and stunning soundtracks! It's hard to decide but I think my favorites are Princess Mononoke and Whisper of the Heart 💛 When you finish all of Ghibli movies, I recommend you to watch (if you haven't already) Your Name, Wolf Children, To the Forest of Firefly Lights, In This Corner of the World and Death Note And some book recommendations: The Neverending Story, Tigana, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Burial Rites I would love for you to talk about your favorite music and movies! P.s. I really like your style, you're so unique! Greetings from Croatia! 🌻
You should read The Razor’s Edge by Somerset Maugham! It’s about a character’s search for meaning through reading and traveling and “loafing” in Paris and India and other places. The movie with Bill Murray is also just awesome. It’s philosophical and beautiful and thought-provoking, however a little heavy. If you ever do read it, I’d love to know what you think! Hopefully it’d be more of a 4 or 5 star read. Also would recommend The Queen’s Gambit as a quick and delightful read! It’s so triumphant and satisfying at the end and lighter to balance out War and Peace!
I really recommend The Neverending Story and Momo by Michael Ende. They will give you what you wanted with The House in the Cerulean Sea, and didn't get.
I legit just stopped watching Emma to watch Emma, I have very good taste if I do say so myself.
Well Emma also started reading......... yay😁
😂😂
I finished watching Emma to continue watching Emma. Who needs therapy when you have Emma.

Personally don't like Howl's moving Castle that much, it's ok, but just don't connect with the characters that much. My next favorite from Ghibli is princess mononoke, highly recommend, again amazing music.
Congratulations on watching your first movie again! 💛
If you're in the mood for more Ghibli, I can recommend Arrietty.
I love the movie Ponyo xx
Emma, I'm really glad you started to watch Studio Ghibli movies, I love them all! They have beautiful animations and stunning soundtracks! It's hard to decide but I think my favorites are Princess Mononoke and Whisper of the Heart 💛
When you finish all of Ghibli movies, I recommend you to watch (if you haven't already) Your Name, Wolf Children, To the Forest of Firefly Lights, In This Corner of the World and Death Note
And some book recommendations: The Neverending Story, Tigana, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Burial Rites
I would love for you to talk about your favorite music and movies!
