Sorry to hear things aren’t going so well of late, Emma. No cliche or piece of advice from a random internet stranger will do much good, so please just know I am sending positive vibes from the U.K!
As someone with chronic illnesses I can totally relate to that feeling of knowing it won’t be good for you to do something but without doing it, you get upset but when you try and it doesn’t work out the way you want even when you try your best (because your health is out of your control) it gets frustrating. Completely get that. I’m afraid there isn’t a simple answer or action but knowing there’s others who get it and having people around you try their best to understand can be so helpful. I love watching your videos on bad health days especially as they always bring a smile to my face and make me so relaxed so thank you so much 😊
Emma, just wanted to let you know that the power your voice and content has is admirable. I just fought with my mom and came barging into my room crying. I shut everything off, climbed under the covers and cried for a while in the darkness. I'd been putting off watching this video of yours since it was so long but I had nothing to do now, so I started watching it, still crying. 10 minutes later, all my tears are dry and my heart feels so full of love, I can't even believe I was fighting just minutes ago. Thank you for this Emma
Some advice from an internet stranger who loves your channel: 1) Even if it doesn’t feel like it, you accomplish a lot every day 2) Don’t be afraid to ask for extensions on papers because of your injury 3) Remember that self care is key 💕 Your channel brings myself and others so much joy and I hope this year is a joyful one for you
Emma, I'm so happy to have found your channel. I'm not a literature (or anything related) major nor am I a rigorous reader but watching your videos calms me down so much and encourages me to read more fiction. Over all reminds me that there is more to life than what i usually see (in a good don't-worry-so-much way).
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost my login password. I love any help you can give me!
As a previous owner of a limping laptop, I know the pains, frustration, complete tearing hair out and just walking away annoyance it takes to do high powered work - I managed to get a decent laptop on black friday and it was honestly the best thing because yes, there are things which I cannot change but this is something that can make my life easier... if that makes sense! Thank you so much for keeping us all company - your virtual friendship, passion for books and love for making videos and being with us all just made 2020! Sending lots of love and hugs and hope your struggles get easier ❤
Girl just know that someone from Kentucky is always rooting for you and praying for you!!! You are so awesome and have such a great attitude! I wish more people were like you!!!!! Thank you for making these videos! You have helped so many of us through so many things !
I loved Snow Country. 100 books is a good goal, that’s 2 books a week with a couple of weeks off. I am setting mine at 50 because that’s 1 book a week. This year I want to immerse myself in books one at a time and have a couple of days thinking about it. My son has fibromyalgia and migraines and he has to set his courses at 3 per semester instead of 5 and does summer school to catch up a little. It’s not unusual for students to do this so pace yourself as you feel you need to. And hopefully enjoy your courses. ❤️
This is my goal too! I did 21 books last year and this year I’m aiming for a book per week because it’s actually doable for me, just need to stick to it. Good luck, here’s to reaching our goals 🙌
I love these longer videos! Your voice is so calming that listening to you talk about books or school (or whatever else) is the perfect background for my own reading and writing! Keep up the grind, and good luck in school!
Love your vlogs alway, Emma! So heartfelt, cosy, and personal. Love your thoughtful, cosy reflections. Hope you feel better soon with your concussion and are as refreshed and comforted as your vlogs make me after watching them 💗. Wishing you all the best with the start of uni semester! Always love your literary discussions.
I'm taking a 19-century literature course this semester, too! I'm sure you'll fall right back into the groove with essays and studying, especially since you've been annotating and reviewing books all this time. OMG I love Room! I read it for the first time in 2020, and it blew my mind. New fave contemporary novel. The hype was well deserved. It's definitely tempting with chronic illness to DO IT ALL on good days, but yeah, you always end up paying for it later. I find it absolutely essential, especially now that I'm doing university (online, even before covid), to keep myself balanced and stable and not over-work. Trust your body and brain to know their limits and you'll be just fine. You've got this! **hugs**
I definitely added snow country to my list for this year, sounds an interesting read! Thanks for such a long video, it's such a lovely calming thing to make a cuppa and just watch your videos School can be tough at the best of times, but with the online learning and a concussion you're really doing amazing 🌼 Sending postive thoughts and love from Scotland
I can see what you mean about the chair, but it is such an antique! That is one big thing I get into, is old furniture, even if it is uncomfortable. Nice little rundown of your office/ reading room. I enjoyed it much. Have an incredible 2021! 😃
I first subbed back when you were at about 2,000 subs and I’m so impressed to see how well your channel has grown in such a short time. People clearly love your aesthetic! You’re doing an awesome job. :)
Thank you so much for uploading this style of content. I love listening to you discuss life and literature while I’m getting ready for work and driving around 😁 What a wonderful channel you’ve created!
Hi Emma! I'm just writing to say how much I adore your channel, and how your you inspired and motivated me to improve myself over the past year. Your videos always comfort me and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy! Anyways, I hope you're doing great! 💖
An hour long video?? Yes please. The titles of the time stamps😂 Also congrats on 50k, you deserve it!💕 So sorry you're going through a tough time, wishing you the best
I found your channel, Emma, through these unfortunate times and you have made me reflect on books and life! Even though I’m just a teenager with big dreams. Thank you, and I hope you feel better soon!❤️
Emma, you're amazing and inspiring! Not the best week in your life, but it just proves how strong you are and how meaningful your presense is. You never know who might watch this and gets that she/he is not alone and that we all struggling sometimes in some ways. Hope everything's better now. P.S. Good luck with uni! Biggest of hugs from Ukraine
I'm sorry that things are taking a not so great turn for you but hang in there. Before things can get better they have to go badly. Sending you a virtual hug and prayers & thank you for making your videos. They are always something that I look forward to❤ Also, thank you for introducing me to Book Depository. I absolutely love it😸
RUclips recommended your videos to me last January and I clicked on it because it was something to do with classics but I subscribed because I got sick in Dec. 2019 and you are the first person I heard describe exactly what it is like to live with a chronic illness. We have different illness and are in different stages of life but I relate to you so much. When something effects our quality of life the emotional and mental burden on our lives can be just as difficult. I applaud you for being so honest with what you are dealing with although I am so terribly sorry that you have to deal with it. I hope 2021 brings you a lot of healing and good health!
Hi, I’m Polish so I’ll try to help with pronunciation, even though I’ve no idea how to do it. I hope I won’t make it too confusing. The “Je” in Jedrowski’s name should be pronounced just like you say ye in yes (just say yes without s). The rest you said correctly. I’m happy you’re reading so many Polish authors. And you’re so good at saying their names too.
As someone who has a cronic disease I completly understand the frustration of not been able to do what you want/ need to do. I' m still working on accepting but is all you can do. I want you to know that you inspired me to keep going. I love how pationate you are when you talk about books. There's always a way to go through bad things and I admire you for showing that to us all!! Send you all my love!!❤❤ Hugs from Argentina 🤗🤗🤗PS I cried my eyes out when you talk about audiobooks on one of lasts videos, it's the only way I can read rigth now but, on the other hand I've dicovered so many books that weren't able here yet, maybe it is truth after all when one door closes another opens. ❤❤
Am rooting for you as you go back to uni, Emma. You are clearly so accomplished and intelligent and even with concussion have managed to build a really successful channel that inspires, comforts and uplifts so many people. Which is just incredible. Sending all good wishes for your return to school, just know how valued you are whatever your health 🤗 I've struggled a lot with migraines in the last few years and I know how rough it is feeling like you can't realise your potential because your body has it in for you... I'm grateful for you sharing your journey and positivity, though I know it must be really tough sometimes. 💛
Watching your videos in the morning is great to start the day! Love your videos in general but this one especially. I can relate to your situation, I just have one exam before graduation and of course the thesis which I am really really excited about. Then a few months ago life happened, I experienced some losses and health problems (me and other members of my family) and I had to pause everything. I had to push back my graduation and initially it felt horrible. Now I understand that there’s a right time for everything. Still, in the midst of it all your videos are very motivating. Your videos make me want to restart my booktube channel again, which has been on pause for a couple of years. Stay strong!
Love the new setup with your shelves, couch and desk. Looks so lovely and cozy🌾✨ I wish you all the best at the start of your semester, and in regards of your health. When our own bodies become our enemies is surely the worst😓 Your videos have been the best source of comfort for me throughout last year, and I wish I could give you even a small little fraction of that comfort back. Hoping everything goes well at the end, just hang in there Emma🌻🐝
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the work you put into your videos for this amazing community, even tho your laptop sometimes decides to eat them. :/ Take care of yourself and your health first. Also, finished C-B-Y by Tolstoy and absolutely adored it, can't wait for the vlog and the liveshow!!! Congrats on 50k, it's well deserved. :D Good luck with uni and your essays!
ahh i'm so happy you posted! i was having a not so good afternoon and your videos always uplift my mood and make me excited to read or to just be in general. i hope you're doing well!
Room is probably one of my favourite books. And one that I think changed me a lot too, or at least the way I think and see things outside. Like, I’m not sure how to describe it. I think it’s 100% a must read because it’s wonderful and amazing and the movie doesn’t do it justice. It’s amazing and heartbreaking!!~
i've been watching your videos since march 2020 but have been distant from the youtube in the last quarter of the year, so i came back to booktube community just now and i am honestly SO happy to see your grow in here, i feel proud? bc your videos are really calming and relaxing, they really do help my anxiety, i really appreciate the effort and care you take in each frame and glad to know im not the only one
Do not put too much pressure on yourself, you are doing more than I was when I had a concussion and rehabilitation takes time! You're doing more than great content! When I first found your channel I would just listen to your audio because of my own past concussion 😅I'm sending love and positivity your way 🌻
Im sorry to hear that you've been having a stressful time and things feel like they're piling up but just know that every season has its reason and even though things may seem dark now soon you'll see the light. I recommend F. Scott Fitzgerald's This Side of Paradise because it also talks about the stress of college and is very relateable to college students. I'm sure it'll help make you feel better.
I took an english class last semester for the first time in 4 years, and I was soooo scared about the writing portion of the class. I’m an accounting major, so critical essays are just not something we do. I felt so out of my element, but it went really well! I have no doubt if you can work despite your health issues, you’ll be successful this semester in your classes.
Congrats for hitting +51k!!! Since I’ve started watching religiously all of your vlogs, your subs count has doubled and I couldn’t be happier for you. May this year be more delightful for you emmie✨💕🥰 Thanks to you I’ve read so many great books! My goal is to read 100 books as well! I’m on my way to finishing the 5th one. Can’t wait to share this challenge with my favorite booktuber😍💖💕💗
its beautiful to see you choosing life i remember when i was ready to give up ,and then Jesus came into my life and healed me and everything turned upside down , i felt so fresh and joyful since . bless you ,you bring me so much comfort and calmness
I admire you so much. You spread a lot of positive and charm. Also, your voice is so relaxing. Thank you for sharing with us your existence and your thoughts
I read Childhood, Boyhood, Youth this week and loved it - Childhood most of all, I feel like it got a little stale towards the end. Youth reminded me of Milan Kundera’s Life is Elsewhere. Tolstoy is truly exceptional in his description of inner life and consciousness though, so much so that Call Me By Your Name (which I started today) is utterly failing to impress me. I read Snow Country years and years ago and it’s on my list of books to read again, together with The Old Capital by Kawabata, which was one of my favorite books growing up and I would strongly recommend if you haven’t already read it.
Snow Country is absolutely my most favorite novel of all time. I think it has perfectly captured the essence of Japanese aesthetics. I would highly recommend his other novels as well: Thousand cranes, The sound of the mountain, Beauty and Sadness etc.
omg I’m so early I was craving one of your book hauls!!!! and I have a book recomendation: Baltasar and Blimunda by José Saramago, I’m reading it for my Portuguese class and it’s brilliant. I think you’ll like it
i am fairly new here and your channel has become an absolute favourite of mine. I am watching your vlogs in the reverse order and it's making my days so much better.
Sorry to hear that you’re going through a bad patch at the moment. But keep your chin up. You’re a very strong young woman and you’ll get through it. Take care
I think you talk so intelligent about health problems. Even if you accept them, it still effects your mental health and everything in your life. I hope you can get the most out of your courses. Sending you love. ❤️
A hopefully Happy New Year for you! I'm from Germany and here the novel by Kerstin Gier ist called "Wolkenschloss" which means the same as the english title. I loved to read the novel and I love the german cover (it's purple). But when I see the english edition with its beautiful cover I want to have it, too :D . It's like you showed us the english editions of the german poet Rainer Maria Rilke and I immediately think: they look so beautiful. I need to have them, too......
First comment to your channel because you seem to really need the positive right now. You’re so kind, clever, and real. Stay strong and we will be here!
I just started using goodreads and this year I set my goal to 50 books that I actually have interest in and NOT only what's popular. I'm kind of excited.
Thank you again, for a lovely vlog. I send positive vibes for you. I like the new layout with your desk and the bookcase in the background. Good luck with university!
Hey Emmie! New subbie here. Love your content, your honesty and authenticity. I am also excited for your Dickens Tolstoy read along coz I just finished war and peace and I want to read what you're reading now
Literally just finished reading Bunny a couple days ago and think it's going to be one of my absolute favorites of 2021!! So fun, whacky, and bizarre but at the same time such a touching reflection on the power of our imaginations & loneliness. Can't wait to hear your thoughts :))
I read a castle in the clouds in 6th grade in German and I ADORED IT soso much!!!!!! also your videos just motivate me so much and you give off amazing energy :))))
Wish you enjoy "Room". That was a worthwhile reading for me several years ago. Hope hearing your impression of it soon, whatever it might be. Warm greetings from Moscow :)
I've been committing to yoga more too! I'm doing yoga with adriene's thirty day challenge for the start of this year also! I'm so happy I'm coming back to your channel now, I've missed your energy and I hope things begin going in your favor!
i really hope things will go better for you, you truly deserve the best and i hope that life and also your health will give you a bit of a break this year, i'm sending u all the love
I am so sorry to hear about your difficulties and also the lost video :( will definitely consider hitchhiking to Canada to get you a better laptop 👍(And if you ever feel like you need some break time from making videos because you're starting university and e.c.t, take your tiiime.) In the meantime, this vlog was so wholesome and relaxing. Sending much love your way. ❤
🇬🇧 I’ve started reading Phantom of the Opera and so far I’m loving it. I was so surprised how easy reading it is, I was expecting it to be intense, so thanks for the recommendation 🙏 I’m fairly new to your channel hello 👋 how did you get concussed if you don’t mind me asking?
I just fought with my mom and came barging into my room crying. hey there, it's awhile since you posted this, but are you okay now? rough home life is no joke--I would know!

Over all reminds me that there is more to life than what i usually see (in a good don't-worry-so-much way).
"Getting life together" is such a mood lol. ALSO YAY SUCH A LONG VLOG I'M SO EXCITED. good luck for uni you can do it, Emma!!

one of the best parts of my weekend is watching your lovely vlogs curled up in bed with my dog. thank you, always, for making life easier ♡
Lé sigh. I wish it wasn’t almost two in the morning. I have missed your sweetness so much. I could honestly listen to you talk about books forever.

When I first found your channel I would just listen to your audio because of my own past concussion 😅I'm sending love and positivity your way 🌻
The unicorn hoodie is 🔥🔥❤️
i'm so sorry about how this new year is starting for you! We're all here for you. Love from New York. You're videos make my day
Also the titles of the time stamps are so hilarious and dramatic omg yes im here for it
Im sorry to hear that you've been having a stressful time and things feel like they're piling up but just know that every season has its reason and even though things may seem dark now soon you'll see the light.
I have no doubt if you can work despite your health issues, you’ll be successful this semester in your classes.
sad to hear , hope thing improve for you , your content is great and helped me though all the lock downs, you do great work , i wish you all the best.
Can’t wait to share this challenge with my favorite booktuber😍💖💕💗
its beautiful to see you choosing life
i remember when i was ready to give up ,and then Jesus came into my life and healed me and everything turned upside down , i felt so fresh and joyful since .
bless you ,you bring me so much comfort and calmness
I admire you so much. You spread a lot of positive and charm. Also, your voice is so relaxing. Thank you for sharing with us your existence and your thoughts
I read Childhood, Boyhood, Youth this week and loved it - Childhood most of all, I feel like it got a little stale towards the end. Youth reminded me of Milan Kundera’s Life is Elsewhere. Tolstoy is truly exceptional in his description of inner life and consciousness though, so much so that Call Me By Your Name (which I started today) is utterly failing to impress me.
I read Snow Country years and years ago and it’s on my list of books to read again, together with The Old Capital by Kawabata, which was one of my favorite books growing up and I would strongly recommend if you haven’t already read it.
binge watching all your videos chronologically 🤍🤍
Snow Country is absolutely my most favorite novel of all time. I think it has perfectly captured the essence of Japanese aesthetics. I would highly recommend his other novels as well: Thousand cranes, The sound of the mountain, Beauty and Sadness etc.
omg I’m so early I was craving one of your book hauls!!!! and I have a book recomendation: Baltasar and Blimunda by José Saramago, I’m reading it for my Portuguese class and it’s brilliant. I think you’ll like it
I get truly truly excited whenever you post
i'm saving the video for tomorrow because i know it'll cheer up my monday morning, but the segment titles are Gold
Never clicked faster 😍 I love your vlogs the calm me down so easily !
i am fairly new here and your channel has become an absolute favourite of mine. I am watching your vlogs in the reverse order and it's making my days so much better.
I AM BLESSED THANK U !!!
Sorry to hear that you’re going through a bad patch at the moment. But keep your chin up. You’re a very strong young woman and you’ll get through it. Take care
omg yayy a long video!! i am so excited to watch this 😌
I think you talk so intelligent about health problems. Even if you accept them, it still effects your mental health and everything in your life. I hope you can get the most out of your courses. Sending you love. ❤️
I hope you're feeling better now, Emma. ❤❤❤ I loved this video, and you are absolutely hilarious. I laughed when you talked about that chair.
I am also excited for your Dickens Tolstoy read along coz I just finished war and peace and I want to read what you're reading now
Thank you for including that quote by rilke. I'd never read it before and it just might have changed my life a little bit ✨
We don’t really have the same reading tastes, but your videos are very calming and I feel like I learn a lot.
Thank you for uploading!
46:03 Whenever I hear the word 'illumination' I hear it in the auctioneer's voice from the opening scene in Phantom.😂😂
I am reading Frankenstein and The Pickwick Papers right now! I am really liking them so far.❤❤
I just finished Snow Country and the imagery is so beautiful throughout
Wish you enjoy "Room". That was a worthwhile reading for me several years ago. Hope hearing your impression of it soon, whatever it might be. Warm greetings from Moscow :)
I've been committing to yoga more too! I'm doing yoga with adriene's thirty day challenge for the start of this year also! I'm so happy I'm coming back to your channel now, I've missed your energy and I hope things begin going in your favor!

Lol you make me miss school so much! I love getting the syllabus and organizing it all I do hope it all goes well for you!
🇬🇧 I’ve started reading Phantom of the Opera and so far I’m loving it. I was so surprised how easy reading it is, I was expecting it to be intense, so thanks for the recommendation 🙏
I’m fairly new to your channel hello 👋 how did you get concussed if you don’t mind me asking?
I'd love to see a video explaining your mental health or something 💜
