I live in California and the majority of illegals either works in fast food flipping burgers, dish washers, and janitors. I have not once seen an illegal working as a nurse, doctor, or surgeon. This guy will say anything just to ease tension. He's so full of shit.
We don't know their true identity or their college education. Teachers in NYS are required to have a Master's Degree in Education. Foreign nurses have to speak English fluently and prove their education and certification. They also have to take the nursing boards for NYS. Plus we need to have a criminal background check before being allowed to care for these vulnerable populations.

You don't get work authorization until you're granted asylum. But most of these illegals have no chance at actually getting asylum. For central America and Mexico it's like 4% of the people who actually complete the asylum process get asylum. The vast majority of these migrants won't be able to make it on their own in NYC, aka the most expensive city in the US. So they'll always need government assistance or they'll end up homeless. Meanwhile, NYC's American homeless population increases yearly. The city will be forced to continually divert funds away from its legal residents to pay for these needy migrants. The taxpayer will end up paying more for less, which will drive out more residents, leaving NYC with a population of criminals and impoverished residents living in subsidized housing. NYC will become the new Detroit.
A sizeable amount of these migrants have nothing more than a 5th grade education by our standards. What jobs are they qualified for in New York City ? Hedge fund managers ? Something corporate ?

People who came in through Ellis Island were vetted and had to prove they had a place to stay and could fend for themselves. They weren't let loose into the streets. Ellis Islanders came through LEGALLY - they didn't push their way in.
Lived and Naturalized here in america , married my husband , hired an immigration lawyer to help me petition my husband, gave birth to our first child C section now still paying for my medical bills for my co pay . Worked and paying my taxes. Nothing is free here in america.

To get through Ellis island, you had to have a job already waiting for you or you had family to financially depend on. They also had physicals done on them and if they were sickly they were not allowed in this country.
