    Holy holy holy camoly😱 . Dude u r genius. Last couple of months I started to learn to play guitar. Suddenly I was confronted with capo. Not even a clue what it does. I Iooked for hours to explanations. No one is clear about it, untill now. This is so amazing. U opened a bandora box for me with this. U r da best. With ur explanation you don’t even need cheat sheets. It’s just about moving a half semitone for every fret the capo cut off from the neck. This video is epic along with the cheat sheet which made it so very easy now. Thank you soooooo much for this video mister. U r da best. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 🏆 🏆🏆🏆🏆

    As pointed out by the Administrator of Neck Diagrams, the notes on the fretboard do not change whether you use a capo or not. What changes is the shape of the chords.

    If you're playing in open G and it's a bit too high for your voice, is there anything wrong with using capo, eg around 4th fret, and singing an octave lower?

    • @davidfroman8281
      @davidfroman8281 2 года назад

      Not at all. The goal is to support your voice where it is comfortable. However, going to the 4th fret would raise the key. Think of it like the alphabet. To go lower you want F or E. You can capo on the 3rd fret and play D shape and your in F.

    I am playing The Word is Alive , casting crowns, on Easter. Rehearsals have been difficult with this song. I will be only guitar in the set and the arrangement I have is E, B, F#, G@/m, C@/m. This is a bar cord nightmare. I play bar chords fine, however, as you can see its a lot of movement across neck and for the opening song I want to make it simple without all these bar chords. Watching how to transpose songs with capo, I'm a bit lost. Can you help? Matt

    Question: is this song “In the Air Tonight” actually in the key of D minor, not F Major? Dm is the relative minor to the key F Major: a relative key will have the same number of flats (or sharps), thus the term “relative.”
    Thank you for your video. Please keep sharing your knowledge.

    Can I just put my capo further up the fret board and keep the same chord shapes just to make it higher? Thanks!!

    • @SimplifiedGuitar
      @SimplifiedGuitar  6 лет назад +2

      Yes. Exactly!
      If the song is too low for you to sing then add the capo to fret 1, use the same chords, and it will be higher. You can move it up one fret at a time until it's at the best range for you to sing.

    • @SimplifiedGuitar
      @SimplifiedGuitar  6 лет назад

      You could put your capo on the 10th fret, but personally, I would just transpose the song into another key, so that I don't need to put the capo so high. For instance, if the song is in E, but I want to play it in D, then I would need to put the capo on the 10th fret (or tune my guitar a whole step down) as you suggested. But instead I would transpose the song into the key of C, and then put my capo on the 2nd fret, and I'd be playing in D. Much more manageable. Or just transpose it into the key of D.

      Hey, I'm glad you liked the lesson.
      If ever you're in doubt, take a look at the chords you have already transposed, and you'll notice you are Transposing 1 whole step down. From Bm to Am, from A to G, from G to F, so just apply that to the E, which would become D.
      I always like to visualize it on the piano, it makes it very clear.
