This chart literally made my work soooo easy ..first I used to write the scale and transpose the chords...you also explained it amazingly..you are doing great work sir..take care stay safe...more power to you❣️🙏🙏🙏
Hi Thomas Like your good self rather up in the years I am 65 learning guitar already writing songs, Sir you have made my life far easier I so enjoy your videos had to comment you are so kind and fun yet very easy to listen to as you simplify everything for us beginners. A video on writing songs with chords could be helpful 🙏🙏🙏
We need information like these I am a beginner and i was searching for this I played for some months and quit I tried learning online but didn't know what to search What information do i even need and how to go around searching for it. I recently picked guitar again and am so happy i have found this video.
I stumbled acrosss your chart awhile back and printed it out. Love it. (Second part should read "Minor key.") I appreciate the added tip re using capo after transposing...go too low, then back up. (Sometimes finding a comfortable key to sing in is challenging, especially with more complex progressions.) Thx for all you do, Tomas!!!
Tomas once again thanks for your help. I've been following you off and on for 2 years and really like what you are showing. My playing has gotten better. But I've been trying to follow jam tracks but get frustrated by which chords to play, could you do a session on that ?thanks again.
I been playing like 3years not knowing tranpose chord ,i play only technique like legato ,statisco but doesn't know how to do chords change . Sheess im a mess thanks
Good question! Not a simple answer. I usually just put it on the first few friends and see how it sounds. Then I move it up or down one friend at a time.
I need this Key Change Chord Chart it's going to help me write songs. You've saved me soo much time! Thanks for this awesome video, and for getting to the point. I really appreciate it!
Great vid..im a new sub..one question i always wondered..for those not interested in singing (like me)..why would we want to change keys?..i prefer to play in original so it sounds like the original when im playing along..just my thoughts. Thanks for the vid🙏🏿
You would either want to change it for singing or to match other musicians and singers.. another use could be to get the sound you want. For example bands like Metallica tune their guitars half step down for some numbers and i guess so did GnR..
Great video. A future video suggestion is to walk through common strumming patterns and how to pick a good pattern to fit a chord progression. Also another suggestion is finger picking methods.
But I am confused on what a first chord or a fourth chord or a fifth chord is? How do I know if its a first, fourth fifth or a seventh that I need to choose? Im lost. Ive been playing for 30 years… by ear so im ignorant:)
Let's say I have a song originally in scale of C major and the chord progression is C Am D C......so if I want to play the song in D major scale...rather than transposing the chords in new scale...can we use capo on 2 frets forward and play same position??

Glad it helped Khush!
Wow this is so useful! I was just going to learn how to do it without a cheat sheet but then I saw this and I was hooked. It works really well!
Thank you sir, I've been playing guitar for years but know nothing about chord transposition. No one taught me how to do so, but thanks to you.😁
Happy to help Alke!
Wow lessons are good and understandable 💯

Thanks for your request, Ed. can you tell me more about this issue? Do you have the sheet music when you play we can tracks?
@@TomasMichaud
Good evening.
No I don't have the sheet music for it. The one other issue is they are back tracks, I was told that I shouldn't use that type. I have been rewatching your 30 Days and some from a few years ago. Last night I watched the video on " should I play with music or practice" I'm doing both and trying to get barr chords down, watched your video on that also. You have helped me a lot with learning Amazing Grace, thanks. I will continue watching your videos because they are the most effective to me.
I would still like to see a video on Jam tracks and how to tell what chords to use. I've been practicing + - 1 hour a night.
Thanks for responding so quickly. And sorry to be so long winded.

Did you just donate $10?
Thank you for your generosity, Alicia. Sorry for the late reply. I just discovered these.
Question: How would you use this to transpose from Major to Minor or Minor to Major?
Thank you.
You're welcome John!

Great suggestions! Thanks, Sharad. I appreciate it.
Hi where is the transpose sheet download?
Hi there, it is in the blog article linked in the description. Here is that link for you! www.tomasmichaud.com/how-to-transpose-guitar/.
But I am confused on what a first chord or a fourth chord or a fifth chord is? How do I know if its a first, fourth fifth or a seventh that I need to choose? Im lost. Ive been playing for 30 years… by ear so im ignorant:)
Tomas, I have 2 questions. Why are columns 4, 5 and 6 marked in blue? And what are A#m, C#m etc? I'm not familiar with them.
The blue columns are the most used chords in any key. They are what I have students learn first.
Instead of changing chords according to scale .....can we use capo and play same position??...does that sound same or am I wrong??
I'm not 100% sure I understand KHUSH PARMAR. Could you explain more Khush?
Let's say I have a song originally in scale of C major and the chord progression is C Am D C......so if I want to play the song in D major scale...rather than transposing the chords in new scale...can we use capo on 2 frets forward and play same position??
@@khushparmar5714 yes. but it is good practice to not use the capo as a crutch.
You've got "Major Key" on there twice. ;)
Thanks!
That’s what I do! Lol
