Hard to believe it was 20 years ago.Saw both of them and they were exciting races.
I thought at the time typical asshole move by Earnhardt. I was sick of his antics, and when two years later he was taken out on the last lap, I cheered. I still feel bad about that.
Back when Bristol rocked. Now it had to be put on dirt to fill the stands in the spring and even then the stands were barely half full. Night race used to sell out a year in advance, sometimes two year waiting list.

I was in a southside Phoenix hole-in-the-wall bar wearing an Earnhardt #3 jersey, and the customers inside were not NASCAR fans. I asked the bartender to put the race on, and he reluctantly agreed.
I tell you what, by the end of the night, many were tuned in to the final laps, and a lot of new NASCAR fans walked out of that bar that night.

I watched the 95 Bristol in a cablevision control room working night shift my senior year in College. I loved that Corn Flakes Car of Terry Labonte.
It was an amazing race to watch. I knew it was going to be memorable seconds after the finish.
People forget he and Terry were really good friends, so I really think Dale was trying to move him up the track and did not care if he wrecked, but he really just wanted to move him up the track and pass him.
I really didn’t see him bump him that hard. I think what Earnhardt wanted to do, was bump and run him the same way Gordon did to Rusty in 1997. I believe it surprised Earnhardt more than anyone else.

My all-time favorite Dale Sr (my all-time favorite driver) and Bristol (my favorite track) moment. That race and the 2018 Overton's 400 at Chicagoland will always be my two favorite races. And in the words of Kyle Busch (my favorite driver in NASCAR today), "I don't know what y'all are whining about, but if you don't like that kind of racing, don't even watch."

I remember being there...Earnhardt got booed out of the stadium and he didn't have a lot of fans because he wrecked people to get wins. When he passed away, everyone was a Dale fan all of a sudden out of nowhere...lol. The power of the media.

I didn't know Toyota & Dodge were in NASCAR back in '99.
Not toyota, came to Nextel cup and Busch Series in 2007, but had them In the trucks earlier
Dodge came back in 2001. Toyota in Cup around 2007. Ford, Chevy, and Pontiac were the only makes in 1999.
I’ve always wondered what would’ve happened had that lap car not been right beside Terry in the 95 race when Earnhardt spin Terry into to wall to win?
I'm not denying Earnhardt's talent. He's one of the all time greats, but he was also one of the all time dirtiest drivers.

FOX Sports I was born a year after the 1995 race but I was a little kid when that spin happened in 1999! I don’t remember watching it though. I can’t wait to see the Bristol race this coming Sunday!!!

Labonte lifted to make sure he would hit the corner ...... and that happened right after he used up Dale in the two previous corners with new treads. lol
Well, and Dale probably brakes early to make the turn earlier. He could not go as far into the turn as Terry. I still think Dale was just trying to move him, not dump him.

watching it live back then I felt like Terry slowed down going into the corner
He overdrove the entry on fresh tires. So he ended up missing the center, which was easy to do at Bristol. Terry had the best car, yet Dale beat him through making the corner better than Terry.

Terry's car had sparks coming out from his right front going into turn 2 right before contact....
Why? Because Terry had a right front tire going down from contact and would've never made it to turn 3 ...lol
That or the car bottomed out maybe on new tires and maybe slightly lower air pressure.
I was there. The only people that weren't booing were the true hard core Earnhardt fans. I'm a Earnhardt fan and it was my first time seeing Dale win in person, so it was a night I will never forget. Still get choked up to this day!
